If you're showing for the very first time, then some show terminology may confuse you. Listed below are some common words and abbreviations used in connection with showing and hopefully will be of some assistance to you. Remember that this is designed for GCCF shows only.

Show Terms	Meanings
Novice	Exhibits that have not won a 1st prize in any class at a show.
Limit	Exhibits that have not won more than four prizes in any class at a show.
Debutante	Exhibits that have never been shown at a GCCF show.
Maiden	Exhibits that have not won a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd prize in any class at a show.
Breeders	Exhibits bred by the exhibitors.
Adolescent	Cats over 9 mths of age and under 15 mths of age on the day of the show.
Junior	Cats over 9 mths of age and under 2 years of age on the day of the show.
Senior	Cats 2 years old and older on the day of the show.
Aristocrat	Exhibits that have won one or more Challenge/Premier certificates but have not received Challenge/Premier status.
Radius	Exhibits that live within a 50 mile radius of the show hall (miles may vary)
Visitors	Exhibits that live over a 50 mile radius of the show hall (miles may vary)
Assessment	A class for experimental breeds only

AV	Any Variety
BIS	Best in Show
BOV	Best of Variety
BOB	Best of Breed
CC	Challenge Certificate
