I can't tell you just how delighted we are to have yet another Tortie in our home. Despite concentrating on the Tabbies, the Torties were, and still are, the first love of our lives and this little girl is a darling. Having said that, it is common knowledge that a Tortie will try the patience of a Saint and by adding a 5th Tortie to our cat family we must be totally mad :)

Mokatika was from a litter of 7 and we had a really tough decision in deciding between her and a Black Torbie baby. We had originally decided on the Torbie although I was always drawn to Mokatika right from the start. There was just something about her. As the babies developed, the more we looked at Mokatika the more convinced we were that she was the one. We are certain that we made the right choice.

As for names, well.................it's common knowledge that our own cats are all named after liqueurs and Mokatika is a coffee liqueur and we feel that it really suits her. The "posh" name is another matter entirely. Her mother is Ch Schimmel Shesadream, her half sister is Ch Schimmel Shesanightmare so of course we had to keep the theme going. Let's just hope that this is one little Tortie lady who will not live up to her name!

One of the attributes that we love about Torties is that they are real "in your face" kind of cats and Mokatika is no exception to this. She is constantly seeking attention from us, demanding cuddles, and oh boy is she mischievous. In fact, she reminds us of her mother when Drambuie was a baby but we are rather hoping she will be better behaved that Buie was! She has the cheekiest grin you could ever see on a cat and such a look of mischief in her eyes. This girl is one of those amazing felines that you just can not help but smile when you see her.

We love Mokatika's colouring and despite having bred Torties since 2003, this is the first time we have ever bred a Cinnamon Tortie and it's so odd having 4 Black Torties and now a Cinnamon Tortie. At the moment Mokatika is still incredibly young and is still finding her place in our home amongst our adult cat family but in typical Tortie fashion, she is making her presence known and she fully expects that all of our adult cats love and adore her just as much as we do. She also has a mind of her own and heaven help anyone who tries to make Mokatika do something that she doesn't want to :)

Mokatika will not be having her first honeymoon until the beginning of 2010 and between now and then we are going to thoroughly enjoy her kittenhood and shall delight in watching her grow and mature.
