Cointreau is our Seal Point Siamese breeding girl and like the rest of our cats, she is named after a rather tasty liqueur. It is very unusual for us to keep a Siamese girl back from an Oriental dam (mum), however, Cointreau stole my heart from the moment she was about 2 weeks of age. I have no idea why but I really bonded with her and thought she was the most adorable baby I had ever seen. In fact, she had "a face only a mother could love" and was quite an unattractive little baby but that was part of her appeal.

What also makes our girl so special, apart from her personality and charm, is the fact that she is a 3rd generation family member in our house. We also have Cointreau's grandmother, Cacao, her mum Sambuca, and her Aunty Drambuie, .

Cointreau has a wonderful personality and is a super cuddly girl. She is extremely vocal, very demanding and is can be very intense. In some ways, she is extremely similar in personality to her mum, although she does not have her mother's evil streak which is found in Oriental Blacks. Many of our kitten family visitors fall in love with Cointreau when they first meet her and we have a lot of the children who visit us say "I want one like that one".

She is a devoted mum to her babies, or indeed anyone else's babies who happen to be in our home and she is extremely protective of her children while they are in her care.

If I had to say Cointreau had one fault, it is the fact that she is too protective of the children in the home. Cointreau is one of those mothers who feels the need to herd the children into one spot where she can keep a very close eye on them, no matter how old they may be. I have seen her try and pick up 14 week old babies, despite them being too large for her to carry, because she feels that the children should never leave her side.

Despite living in a home that is run by Oriental cats, Cointreau has no problems standing up for herself to our wicked Black Torties, and Blacks, and she truly is a fantastic addition to our home and our fur family.
