August 9, 2005 (approximately 2 days to go)
I can't believe how quickly this last week has flown by and Drambuie has put on even more weight. It looks quite funny on her because she is smaller than her sister. Buie has been in with us of an evening for the last couple of nights and will continue to share our room until she's had her babies. During the day she just hangs out around the house with our other cats and where I can keep a close eye on her. To look at the way she is acting, apart from the obvious signs, you would never believe she is due to kitten so very soon. She is incredibly active, bouncing around all over the place and is showing no signs whatsoever of slowing down. She is also still spraying! I caught her this morning out in the cat run spraying up against the wire. Her babies are moving around an awful lot now and I think they are trying to tell her that they want to come out. Knowing Drambuie though, they will only be born when "she" is ready and not a moment sooner. Please do check back in a couple of days time to (hopefully) read details of a safe and easy birth of some happy, healthy, beautiful Buie babies.

August 2, 2005 (approximately 9 days to go)
Drambuie is looking wonderful at the moment, in lovely condition and getting rounder each day. All she ever does now is follow me around the house and sit on my lap for cuddles and lots of attention. As this is her first litter I will probably move her into the bedroom to sleep with us at nights starting from next Monday onwards just to be on the safe side. So far everything appears to be going well and her babies are moving about quite a bit now. When Amaretto has her babies they will remain in the bedroom with us until the Chocolate Bars and The T's are moved downstairs into the back room. Buie still has a very good appetite although she is also rather active even despite her size. At this point in time, she hasn't shown any signs of nesting or even looking for somewhere to have her babies but I'm sure that this will change next week.

July 26, 2005 (approximately 6 1/2 weeks pregnant)
I now remember why the majority of our pregnancy diaries are not done on a weekly basis and that is because very little changes from week to week and there is actually nothing to say! Drambuie is getting more evil and more clingy as each day passes. There is not a cat or young kitten in this house that is safe from her, not even her own mother or sister. It doesn't matter who walks past her, she beats them up so everyone is trying to give her an extremely wide berth at the moment. She is demanding our attention though constantly and has become so very clingy. When she is awake, all she wants to do is spend time with us, on our laps and if we are patting anyone else, she comes over and pushes them out of the way so that we focus on her only. I do think this is all because she has absolutely no idea what is going on inside her. Some maiden queens are like this during their first pregnancy and unfortunately, there's not really any way of trying to make them understand the changes that are happening inside their bodies. I am sure though that when the time comes and she has had her babies that she will be a great mum. She is now starting to eat for England and it is beginning to show.

July 18, 2005 (approximately 5 1/2 weeks pregnant)
Well Drambuie has not been a happy pregnant girl at all, in fact, she's become an extremely evil hell cow and has been attacking every other adult cat in sight, including her own mother, and her own sister. Even when I told her that other other Black Tortie sister is now a Premier, that still did not put her in a good mood unfortunately :( whilst you may think this is not a serious situation with regards to her mood, let me assure you that it is. In multi cat households where the girls are pregnant, or where babies are in the house, it can put other adults in a very bad mood which then means separating the household for a while so it's definitely not easy at the moment because of Drambuie's attitude. With we humans however, she is incredibly loving and purry and is as soppy as anything. At the moment, we are hoping that as her pregnancy progresses, she will revert back to her normal loving self, or perhaps when she has her babies she will mature, like her sister did, because Drambuie never really got out of her kitten stage and even now, she doesn't believe that she is an adult cat. As you can tell by the photos below (hopefully), Drambuie is expanding quite nicely :)

July 7, 2005 (approximately 4 weeks pregnant)
Drambuie is progressing quite nicely with her first pregnancy. She isn't gaining weight too rapidly, it's all a very slow and steady progress with her which is great. Her morning sickness has finally finished which is something that we humans are very pleased about. She is just as active (and naughty) as ever and this also pleases me because I do like to see happy, health pregnant girls doing what they would do normally. I think if a pregnant queen just lies around and is lethargic throughout her pregnancy, then something definitely isn't right. Drambuie's temperament at the moment is very up and down. One minute she is extremely grumpy and evil, just like her mother, yet a minute later, she is grooming the babies that are still in our house and is mothering them. She can't seem to make up her mind from one minute to the next. At the moment, she doesn't appear to have increased her appetite a great deal, she is definitely eating more than she would normally, but she is not over eating.

June 30, 2005 (approximately 3 weeks pregnant)
I am delighted (I think) to announce that Drambuie is definitely pregnant, however, after her behaviour for the last couple of weeks, I actually shudder at the thought of little Drambuie's running around the house. All Graham and I are hoping is that motherhood will calm her down and make her slightly more mature. Well Drambuie pinked up on time which is really lovely, but I did have a feeling during the last week or so that she was pregnant because she had a touch of morning sickness (lovely, just what I wanted) but fortunately, unlike Tia Maria who also gets morning sickness, Drambuie had the common sense to be sick out in the cat run as opposed to in the house which we did appreciate. She's also become incredibly "motherly" towards Sheridans and Amarula and is constantly grooming them and sleeping with them all of the time. despite her motherly attitude, she is still an absolute terror and left to her own devices, or not being given enough attention, she will destroy everything in her wake. As this is Drambuie's first ever pregnancy, we shall be keeping an eye on her to make sure that everything is going along normally. If she copes with her pregnancy as well as her sister Sambuca did, then we will be delighted.

June 7, 2005 (The Honeymoon)
In one way, we are disappointed that Drambuie is having her honeymoon at the moment because we had plans to continue her show career to try and get her last CC prior to mating her. However, this wasn't to be because Drambuie was coming into call every 2nd week and as her mum's breeding career was cut short early due to having Pyometra, we couldn't risk the same thing happening to Drambuie. As much as we would have loved to get her last CC, her health obviously comes first so her show career is now on hold for quite a long time. She and Ice have had a lovely honeymoon and within 5 minutes of being put in the stud house with Ice, they had "done the deed". Talk about keen! She really is a bit of a tart. When I took her away from Ice on June 10, he was most distressed as was Drambuie and it was rather heart breaking to listen to their pitiful cries. I can say that without her calling in the house it has been so much more peaceful. We think that the colours in these litters will be Seal Pt Siamese & Oriental Black Torties and if the mating has been successful we should be expecting Drambuie to give birth in August which will be really lovely. Both Graham and I are a bit nervous about this litter because the thought of 4 or more little "Buie's" running around the house, creating havoc is actually a very scary thought but if we're lucky, they will not be quite as naughty as their mum.
