Mokatika will not be having her first honeymoon until early 2010 as we will wait until she is 12 months of age prior to letting her have a litter. At the moment she is still a baby and we are delighting in watching her grow and develop. We also have plans to show her at TICA shows during the next 12 months or so..

As our own stud cat, Ashanti, is Mokatika's sire, when the time comes for her to have a honeymoon she will go to a total outcross boy not owned by ourselves. Of course this means that we will be spending the next 12 months trying to find the right husband for our little girl. We also have to think about what we wish to breed from her and where we want to take our breeding program with regards to our Tortie line. There are 2 options here, we either go down the road of playing about with the Reds, or we stick with the Torties and Tabbies. Chances are, we will stick with the Torties because in reality, the Reds don't really interest me, and I have a few ideas in mind for what I would like to do with our Tortie breeding program.

I would say that it is far too early to make any definite decisions but as breeders, we are constantly looking at, and planning for 5 years down the line with our breeding program so our choice of future husband will be based on where want to be in the next 5 years.
