All SCHIMMEL kittens are raised indoors. Our babies are all born in our bedroom and when they are a day old, provided there are no problems and I am not doing 2 hourly feeding, they are moved into the Kitten Room downstairs where they spend the first 6 weeks of their lives, handled by ourselves, as well as by our friends. After 6 weeks of age when the babies have been litter trained and are eating solid foods, the door to their kitten room is opened up so the babies can then have access to the home and can come and go as they please. From here, they can be introduced to our dogs, and they can interact with all of our adult cats. They can also then adjust to all household noises, such as dogs barking, doorbell, footy on the TV, the telphone ringing etc. When they are older, they also have access to the cat run, where they can be safely outside in the fresh air and sunshine. They can access the cat run via the window leading into the run so they can choose whether or not they would like to go outside, or they can remain inside. We are firm believers of not penning or caging our kittens at any stage during their time with us. We feel that is is relatively easy to keep kittens safe from household dangers without having to resort to locking them in pens.

Of an evening, our babies are taken back up to their own kitten where they can sleep and play all night, undisturbed by our older cats. We believe that by integrating our kittens from an early age and getting them used to everyday life, i.e. visitors, Hoovers, doorbells, TV, pets etc. they will be happy, confident kittens which will help them to settle in to their new lives with you. The one thing our babies are not particularly used to is small children as we do not have any ourselves, so the only time our babies see human children is if one of our kitten families has children and they visit us. All SCHIMMEL kittens are vaccinated for FCV/FVR (Cat Flu) & Enteritis, wormed insured, and they are all registered "Not For Breeding" with The International Cat Association (TICA).

All new guardians of SCHIMMEL kittens will be given:

Remember that like you, we also once adopted a kitten for the first time and were in the same situation so we understand the stress of being a new kitten family. No matter how silly you might think your question is, we can promise you that to us, it will be a perfectly normal question. You should also remember that we love to hear how SCHIMMEL kittens are getting on in the new home and we are always available for a "cat chat" with other Siamese or new kitten guardians.

Please note:
Our babies are only available to indoor homes. No Schimmel kitten is allowed outdoors, unless the guardian has a fully enclosed cat run, or a cat proof garden. We will not adopt kittens out to people who are adopting them for Christmas presents, birthday presents or as gifts. All Schimmel babies are placed in pet or pet/show homes, we will not home any babies for breeding.
