A kitten, no matter how cute and adorable, will not remain a kitten for life and your Siamese/Oriental baby will hopefully be with you for many, many years. Prior to adopting your new kitten, have you really and truly considered the financial responsibility this will entail? Just because your baby has come from a reputable breeder, this does not mean that he/she will never need to visit the vet. We like to think that when we home our babies, they are being homed for life, not just for the short period that they are cute, mischievous kittens and this is why we have listed below some costs you are likely to encounter during your cat's lifetime. The list is not meant to "scare you", it is simply meant to make sure you are fully aware of the financial side of being a cat guardian. All costs are approximate at the time of creating this page, and prices will vary in different areas.

Kitten Adoption Price - £450
Boosters - £35 - once a year
Each year, your cat will need his/her annual booster to help maintain his/her good health.
Spaying/Neutering - £45
Your cat will have to be neutered or spayed if he/she was sold as a pet only. This must be done to prevent unwanted litters and little babies ending up in rescue homes.
Microchipping - £20
This should be done to ensure that if your cat is ever lost, you have a far better chance of having him/her returned.
Worming - £5 - every 3 months
Your cat should be wormed every 3 months to prevent parasites. This is particularly important if your cat goes outdoors or is fed mainly on a raw meat diet.
Food & Litter - £10 - per week
Your cat should be fed on good quality, premium foods in order to maintain his/her health and cat litter should be changed on a very regular basis.
Insurance - £10 per month
You will find that insurance may come in extremely handy should your cat ever incur any health problems that will require ongoing or expensive treatment.
Boarding - £6 per day
There will be times when you go on holidays and your cat will need to be boarded out.
Emergency Treatment - £160
Your cat will not always get ill during office hours and there may be a time when your cat will require emergency treatment from the vets.
Scratch Posts - £35
Unless you want your cat to claw your furniture for the remainder of his/her life, it is advisable to buy at least one scratch post.
Food/Water Bowls - £10
Obviously these are essentials and remember that cheap, plastic bowls can become scratched very easily and bacterial will then build up in the scratches.
Litter Tray - £10
The majority of breeders will insist that their cats are to remain indoor cats, in which case a litter tray is an absolute essential part of life.
Toys - £25
Siamese/Orientals do become bored very easily and when no one is home, they will appreciate toys that they can play with until their kitten family returns.
Flea Treatment - £20 - every few months
If your cat is allowed outdoors, then flea prevention is an absolute must.
Cat Carrier - £20
Your cat will require his/her carrier when you collect your baby from the breeders, and will then use it to travel to and from the vets and boarding kennels.

Should your cat live until he/she is at least 16 years old then you are looking at spending approximately £17,824 during your cat's lifetime (not counting your kitten's purchase price)!
