Day 76 - January 29, 2008

Both kitten diaries start off the same today as I need to let everyone know where we are up to again. I spoke with our wonderful vet this morning and the Indians and Monkeys are now booked in for their first set of vaccinations on Friday. Now, provided everyone can actually be vaccinated, this means that the babies will be able to leave home any time from February 28, 2008. I am sure this will please some of their new families who seem to have been waiting for an eternity for these children to join them. I am hoping that from now until our babies leave, I can get some sort of short diary entry written and online with the odd photo here and there. It's been such a very busy time for us as we do now have some new fur children in the home and they have been very demanding of my time.

I really don't know whether I am happy about this or not but I can now confirm that darling Punky Monkey has a lovely new family waiting for her. The reason why I'm not overly happy is not because of her new family because they are absolute darlings and totally perfect for Punky Monkey. The problem is that I have become extremely attached to my little Chocolate monkey and I was considering very seriously about having her join our family here permanently solely because of her amazing little personality. I know that I could not ask for a better home for one of my babies than with Mary, Bob, and Meg and I know she will be spoilt and loved as much as she is here. It's times like this that I really do have to harden my heart a little and remember that the babies are not here forever and that they only on loan to me until they join their new families. Our Monkey who still does not have a home yet is our darling Chunky Monkey as the only inquiries we have had for her so far are from breeders which obviously is a %100 "No". Like Casey though, the right family will be out there for her somewhere and I do believe that both she and Casey will find someone to love them just like their siblings have done.

It will be interesting to see what Jo thinks of our Monkeys when she sees them on Friday because even though they are doing well, I can't help but feel they are smaller than I would like to see, remembering that they had such a rough time of it when both mum's came into call and it was not easy to get them back on track. I have no doubts though that Jo will examine each Monkey thoroughly as she does with all of our babies and she will make the decision that is best for them.

Our Monkeys do continue to be happy little babies although the 2 biggest problems with them are that a) they continue to sleep sprawled out on the top step and it is impossible to get up and down the stairs; and b) they still continue to be very dependent on their mum, Toussaint, for milk and this is where some of the problem lies with regards to their size. All 4 Monkeys eat biscuits and also eat their wet foods, but they still want mum's milk.
