Day 69 - September 29, 2007

Note for all new kitten families for the Nuts, Detectives, and Water Babies........................ Okay guys, feel free to scream abuse at me because there will be a slight change of plan now to the date the babies are leaving. Mainly because I didn't get my act together and get them booked in for first set of vaccinations. Obviously with 9 babies, it's not usually a case of getting an appointment on the day I phone up because this many babies requires 3 consultations all rolled into one as it is time consuming. So I do apologise for this. I will know by the end of Monday and "official leaving date" so please bear with me until Monday afternoon when I can confirm this.

If ever there was a baby like a kangaroo, it is definitely our Thames. He sits up on his back legs and then springs up at people, and the other kittens, in the exact same way that a roo does. He is such a funny little boy and there isn't a baby or human in the home at the moment that has been safe from his attacks. I can't remember the last time I ever saw a kitten derive such pleasure from scaring the heck out of his littermates by leaping out at them. It is no wonder he is so energetic though because Thames has such an excellent appetite and he is always one of the first babies to run to the plate at meal times. He has even been seen eating from the trays with the adult cats during their own meal times.

Day 68 - September 28, 2007

I must first warn you all that there will probably be no photos until Monday now. Reason being is that today has been a very hectic day, tomorrow I have quite a lot to do, and we friends and a kitten family visiting on Sunday so I really don't have a great deal of time at all.

Nothing much has changed with Thames at all. He is such a live wire and I think he will probably keep Nicky and Karl entertained for hours on end when he moves in with them. He still has a fascination with his own tummy and not only does he insist he gets lots of tummy tickles, he also plays at trying to catch the "spots" on his tummy which is very funny to watch. Most of the small kitten toys in the home have now found their way upstairs to the kitten room and the hallway, mainly because Thames is in a real "toy" mood lately and every time he finds a toy, he carts it upstairs, plays with it, and then leaves it lying around when he becomes bored. Nicky and Karl may have to invest in quite a few toy mice and the likes just to keep their new boy happy.

Day 67 - September 27, 2007

Entries today are incredibly short due to lack of time.

Yes, today I actually managed to get photos of Thames whilst playing, instead of the usual sleepy photos that Nicky and Karl have to normally put up with. He was very funny last night because he decided to claim one of the cat toys as his own. It's a little fabric ball that at one stage belonged to part of a cat activity centre and he sat on the stairs with it, batting it about, then picking it up and growling at the other babies who approached him. He even carted it up and down the stairs with him wherever he went. As far as he was concerned it belonged to him and no one else.

Day 66 - September 26, 2007
Every now and then a very special little baby comes along, one who touches your heart more than any other, and that is definitely Thames. He and I have formed a close bond in this last week or so and every time he sees me, he springs up at me to be picked up and cuddled and naturally I always oblige. You just can't help but smile at him because he is such a loveable and happy little guy. He also gets these expressions on his face that are absolutely priceless. Again today he has been tearing around like a little hooligan, and this morning when I was brushing my teeth he decided to scale my dressing gown all the way up to my arm and then hung there waiting for me to "rescue" him and give him cuddles. Believe me when I say that there is absolutely no such thing as privacy when you share your home with Oriental cats :)

Day 65 - September 25, 2007
Sorry, they are just "photo" entries today :)

Day 64 - September 24, 2007
Thames, like all the other babies, has been a total little bugger today! No matter which room I go into, whether it's the kitchen or the 2nd kitten room, he has slipped into the room with me. I can't stop him as he is just so super fast. I've had to take him out of the 2nd kitten room 6 times today. He thinks it's a tremendous game, I am starting to become rather frustrated. It doesn't matter where I turn, he has been right there on my heels. It's now 1400, I am only just beginning the diaries for the 3 older litters and every single cat and kitten in the home is sound asleep. You can not imagine my pleasure at the peace in the home right now :) Of course it won't last. Would you believe he has even been ambushing me on the stairs. As I have gone up and down the stairs with plates in my hand and loads of other cat related stuff, he has quite literally waited until I'm half way up the stairs and the little monster has just sprang out of nowhere, straight towards my knees, scaring the heck out of me and trying to trip me up. He does this on purpose, I know he does. The problem is of course that you can't get cross with him because of his cheeky little smile :)

Day 63 - September 23, 2007

There are no photos in today's entry, solely because I'm having a day off :) I probably could have found the time to take a few photos but sometimes it's just nice not to feel pressured into getting the diaries online because the photos are the most time consuming aspects of each kitten diary.

I can't believe that Thames is 9 weeks old now. The time is flying by way too quickly and it's scary to think he is now old enough to have his first vaccination. We thought what better way for Thames to spend his 9 week birthday than by having a visit from his mum and dad, Nicky and Karl, and Sam and Richard. What a relief it was to see that this time around he was much more accommodating and actually allowed himself to be cuddled by his new family although he didn't hesitate to take a flying leap out of Karl's arms after about 10 seconds which is very typical of Thames. He is one of those children who hates sitting still. I think though that Nicky managed to get some semi decent photos of him. Of course, Nocino felt that the camera actually belonged to her so she knocked it off the chair, grabbed the lead in her mouth and started walking away with the camera. Torties! Who'd have 'em! I don't know that Nicky is as keen on Thames' registered name as Karl is but it will grow on her :)
