Kitten Diaries
Toussaint
July 2007
Toussaint's 3rd Kitten Diary - July 2007 to October 2007
Litter out of Champion Aportent Mixedminx X Schimmel Stripe It Lucky
Day 62 - September 22, 2007
The kitten diaries for the Nuts, the Detectives, and the Water baby are all the same today as it is regarding vaccinations and this concerns all of our kitten families. Originally we had decided we would vaccinate each litter individually when they came of age i.e. 9 weeks old, however, with me being so incredibly busy with Heston and the 2 hourly feeds, vaccines have not really been a priority. Tomorrow, Thames will be 9 weeks old and normally, first kitten vaccinations are done when the babies reach 9 weeks. As all 3 litters are now of an age to be done, then we will be booking the 3 litters in for their first set of vaccinations this coming week. This does mean that the earliest any of these babies can leave home is October 25. None of them can leave any earlier than this. The one bonus to having them all done at the same time is that we won't have to worry about any of the babies who have been done, shedding the virus, and causing mild infection for any unvaccinated kittens. It does also mean that Sherlock has had that little bit of extra time to develop although I don't know at this stage whether or not Jo will feel he is big enough to vaccinate, but we will take him along as well and just see what happens on the day. I do know that some of our kitten families like to ensure they book holidays at the same time their babies come home so that they can have a settling in/bonding time together, which is why I wanted to make a point of putting the date in the diary so that all families are aware of it.

Day 61 - September 21, 2007

There are no photos today sorry due to lack of time.

As each day passes, Thames because more and more adorable and never have I seen a baby who is so enthralled at having his tummy tickled like he does. He absolutely delights in rolling around on his back and he really is just the cutest little guy. He seems so incredibly mature for his age sometimes and I am sure that the reason for this is because from early on, he would take lead from the Nuts and just do whatever they did. If it wasn't for the fact that he was smaller than the Nuts, you would actually think he was part of their litter. I do still struggle with him when it comes to trying to get in and out of the 2nd kitten room because he still wants to know what is going on in there and who is making the noises that he can hear. Like all Oriental Tabby kittens, he is an extremely curious baby and naturally he does not understand the meaning of the word "No", nor can he comprehend why he is not allowed in that room.

Day 60 - September 20, 2007
Today's entries are really photos only because as mentioned yesterday 2 of our babies left us today, and time has really gotten away from me this afternoon. Possibly tomorrow we will be back to normal, who knows :)

Day 59 - September 19, 2007
Yet again I'm afraid there are no entries for today. I have an awful flu and am having a really off day. We also have 2 babies leaving us tomorrow, so in between sneezing and cleaning, I have had mountains of paperwork to get through.

Day 58 - September 18, 2007

I'm afraid that today's photos are all "sleepy" photos as I made the mistake of going up to the kitten room to take photos of the babies when they were sleeping and none of them were keen to wake up and smile for the camera. I will try and do a better job tomorrow :)

I am so pleased that this weekend, Nicky and Karl are coming to visit their little boy because I can't remember the last time I took photos of him when he was awake and it would be nice for them to actually see him in action. He was very adorable last night because at about 11:30pm I was about to come downstairs and do another feed for Heston and when I opened the bedroom door, here was thames, lying on his back, showing off his spotted little tummy and pleading me to tickle his tummy. Of course I bent down and much to his delight, started giving him tummy tickles. He was ecstatic and would have been happy to stay there for hours. I felt quite sorry for him as he looked rather despondent when I stopped and I tried to explain to him that Heston would starve if I stayed with him all night but he just didn't understand.

Day 57 - September 17, 2007

We would like to begin this diary entry by congratulating Caryll and ray on Kyla's great results at her show on the 15th. There are no photos for today's entries but I am still trying to catch up after having such a very busy weekend. Tomorrow's entries will be back to normal with photographs.

I don't know where the time has gone and I couldn't quite believe that today, our little Thames, well he's not so little actually, is 8 weeks of age now. For Nicky and Karl this will be exciting because that means that Thames is one week closer to be able to go and live with his new mum and dad :). He's spent quite a bit of time during the weekend, and today, popping downstairs for visits and to check everything out. Teen and I had another good look at him yesterday and we feel that despite the banded hairs we are seeing, he will end up being a Spotted Tabby. As of yet, I've not registered any of our Nuts, Detectives or Thames, and it's possible that will be next weeks' job because if our babies are to be vaccinated this week, it really does only give me about 4 weeks to get the registrations sent in, and sent back to us in time for their new families. As Thames has only just turned 8 weeks of age, he will not be having his first vaccination when everyone else does as he must be 9 weeks old so he will have his done next week at some point.
