Day 83 - October 13, 2007

There will be no kitten diaries at all for tomorrow but they will resume as per normal on Monday.

Unfortunately for Nicky and Karl, there is not a single photo of Thames today and the reason for this is quite simple. When I finished taking photos of everyone who was upstairs, I came downstairs with the camera to take some of Thames. I knew where he was as he still spends a lot of time in the box on the scratch post but this time, he was refusing to come out. The reason for this is that he, and Sherlock, were both in the box, being mothered by Amarula, to the point where she was feeding both babies. Despite the fact that Amarula is now spayed, she firmly believes she is still a mum. Actually, in one way she is because she is the mother of our older babies, The Nuts, and rightly or wrongly, she has adopted Sherlock and Thames. As such, Thames was far more interested in suckling from Amarula and when I did try to move him out, he was quite grumpy with me and was clinging on to the box. I did give up in the end although I tried to take some photos of him inside but it was just too dark and I ended up with photos of nothing just darkness.

Day 82 - October 12, 2007
Thames has not been upstairs at all so far today. It's now 1332 and apart from going upstairs to eat his breakfast, he has been with the adult cats, and some of the other kittens in my room. Now that he's all "grown up" he no longer feels the need to be upstairs at all. I think he is convinced that he lives here now and he has been ingratiating himself with all of our adults, all of whom are more than happy to accept him.

Day 81 - October 11, 2007
It feels like the first time in ages I've been able to get any halfway decent photos of Thames. He was more than ready to play it up for the camera bless him and had the camera batteries not have died half way through the photo session, I probably could have taken a lot more. Yesterday, Thames had a visit from his mum and dad, Nicky and Karl. It is always fantastic to see them both and I am certain that once Thames goes to his new home I will actually miss Nicky and Karl's visits.

Day 79 - October 9, 2007

I am extremely behind in kitten diaries as you can tell and there are no photos for today's entries. Over the weekend, Graham caught this awful flu that is going around, by yesterday morning I had the same thing, although I am recovering much quicker so by the time I did the floors and the usual cat chores yesterday I had run out of energy to do any kitten diaries. Tomorrow's diaries will have photos as per normal though.

Thames, well, not a darn thing has changed at all. He is still an amazingly addictive little fur child and he continues to leap out at everyone, myself included when least expected. The one thing I am now used to is his front legs and paw shooting out to "attack" the hoover on a daily basis now as I hoover the scratch post. I'm starting to think that my hoovering is the highlight of Thames' day! He really is an adorable, funny child and everyone seems to love him, all of our adult cats and all of the kittens as well. Like right now for example, he is curled up again in the box on the scratch post, having a sleep, except today he is sleeping with Ice who is his great grandfather (on Ashanti's side). Neither of them are aware that they are related, however they are both happy to enjoy each other's company while having a snooze.

Day 76/77 - October 6/7, 2007
At 11 weeks of age it is very rare now to see Thames upstairs. This little box on the scratch post in my room is where he tends to do most of his sleeping, more often than not, curled up with some of our adult cats. I do love it when our babies start to treat the adults as their own family and that is exactly what is happening with Thames. He will climb into the beds and sleep with any of the adults, all apart from Drambuie as she is not prepared to tolerate any of the babies being near her at the moment. The only thing with Thames is I do often wonder how he doesn't get a headache when he's sleeping in there because he usually sleeps with his head hanging down outside of the box (as pictured below) and he will stay like that for hours.
