Day 51 - December 1, 2006

There's not really much in the way of photos today as this darn cold seems to be getting worse not better and I am not feeling 100% at the moment.

As you can see by the photos below, the Trotters have chosen to sleep somewhere different for a change and I was rather surprised when I went upstairs to take some photos to find them all in the hallway snuggled up in the corner. I have no idea why they have chosen this spot, rather than their soft, comfortable bed, but they certainly seem happy enough. Yet again last night they appear to have had some sort of party because when I opened the door to the kitten room, all the Trotters came rushing out and as entered the room the reason why soon became apparent. The mess that greeted me was not a pleasant sight. The biscuits from the dry food bowl were absolutely everywhere and the bowl was virtually empty. Books were all over the place, and litter had been tracked from one end of the room to the other. Their little scratch post had been knocked over and there were toys everywhere. One of these days I will set up a web cam in the kitten room just so I can find out who is responsible. As they did run out of the room this morning, their little faces had rather guilty expressions on them. But how on earth could anyone be cross with such gorgeous babies :) At least if they are making a mess I know they they are having a good time and that is more important than a bit of cleaning.

Day 50 - November 30, 2006
Unlike the Gamblers, the Trotters behaved beautifully during today's photo session which was a relief let me tell you. As you know I was going to bring them downstairs today but it was a bit of a late night last night and I am starting to get what could possibly be the beginning of a cold/flu so I think it may be a day or two before they are down. Fortunately, they are all quite happy tearing around upstairs like loons and trying to make as much noise as possible bless them. Their appetites are still extremely good and none of the babies seems to have any specific preference for what type of food they are eating. They are at that stage where to them, all food is good which again, is something of a relief. After the problems with the Gamblers, to have such an easy litter again is an absolute blessing.

Day 49 - November 29, 2006
Time is really starting to fly very quickly now and when I look at the Trotters, it is not difficult at all to believe that already they are 7 weeks of age. This morning they have been having fun and games tearing about upstairs and all you can hear from above is thumps. Rodney had some cuddles with his new mum today for the first time which was lovely. Pauline and I have been in contact via the telephone and via email up until today and it was wonderful to meet her in person at long last. It was also lovely to meet Natalie, Pauline's sister. To say nothing of the wonderful surprise of a bottle of wine and some rather delectable chocolates. Rodney is going to have the time of his life at Pauline's home and will be spoilt rotten. He will also have the company of Pauline's other felines, and I was fortunate enough to see photos of some of them today, so he will not be short of a playmate or two. Rodney of course, was not in the friendliest of moods bless him, but he certainly was not as rude as his brother Del Boy. Having seen the babies' attitudes today, starting tomorrow they are going to have a crash course in manners..........Schimmel style :) Tomorrow morning will be their first day of coming downstairs into Graham's back room to spend the day. This will be quite a culture shock to the Trotters because up until now, they have had the security of their own room, the upstairs, and have not seen any of our other cats yet, to say nothing of the dogs so it will be fun and games. It will make life just that little bit easier for me in the respect that I won't be traipsing up and down the stairs during the day with their meals. It is high time these babies learn how Schimmel kittens are supposed to behave.
