Day 34 - November 14, 2006
I have suddenly remembered the problem with babies starting to wean..............once they eat, they then start leaving little nuggets lying around :( I'm not sure who it is though as I am forever seeing all 4 Trotters go in and out of the litter tray, but this morning when I fed everyone their breakfast, I spotted 2 nuggets under the work surface on the carpet. I shall be keeping an eye on the situation and if it continues, then I will put a 2nd litter tray in the place where I found the nuggets and that should solve the problem. In the meantime, as you can imagine, my carpet shampooer and I have a rather close relationship at the moment :) Last night I had some lovely play time with the Trotters. It was about 1am and I was doing the last nightly checks and the babies were in a playful mood so we had a session of tummy tickling and paw stroking which is always lots of fun. At the moment, their favourite places where they love to be touched is their tummies and their ears. Rodney in particular, adores having his ears rubbed, as well as his eyes.

Day 33 - November 13, 2006
I had a lovely chat today with Pauline and we have arranged a day for her to come and visit her new fur child, Rodney. I am sure Rodney is going to have the time of his life in Pauline's home :) Weaning is still a hit and miss affair at the moment as it depends totally on what mood the Trotters are in, as to whether or not they will actually eat anything. I'm still not pushing them towards weaning though because I know when they are ready, they will start to eat mum's food more regularly. I did have very good intentions of taking individual photos of our Trotters today but time has just gotten away from me yet again, so maybe tomorrow.

Day 32 - November 12, 2006
No entry today as I had the day off :)

Day 31 - November 11, 2006

They are not long entries today as we had a visit from a possible new kitten family so by the time I start these entries it's quite late in the afternoon. Before I go any further though, I must say a huge Congratulations to May of Mazpahs Siamese & Orientals for a wonderful show result today with Schimmel Mazpahs Castana.

Trigger had a lovely visit today from a possible new kitten family and it was lovely to meet Joanna, her mum and her partner. Del Boy was incredibly rude, hissing and spitting. He ended up running behind the unit and refused to come out for anyone at all. Fortunately, Rodney, Trigger and Racquel were okay with being cuddled although Rodney continued to prove to our visitors that he does indeed talk and protest and awful lot.

Day 30 - November 10, 2006

There's not many photos in any of today's kitten diaries as I'm rather behind today although goodness knows why! But as I've been on such a roll and have been managing to get photos in every day again, I figured better to put in a few than none at all.

Del Boy has also tried his mum's food now because I snuck into the kitten room at about 1am while I was doing the rounds and checking on everyone and was rather pleased to see Del Boy at the plate, nibbling away on the food. Of course, today, to the best of my knowledge, none of the babies have eaten anything at all from the plate. Toussaint's milk is still more than enough at the moment though as the Trotters' weights are quite good and they are all doing incredibly well. This is actually the first litter we've had that I have not had to use a small litter tray for. Normally, between 3-4 weeks of age, I put a small litter tray in the room so that the babies can start to litter train, however, the Trotters are more than capable of climbing in and out of their mum's large, hooded tray, and have been doing so for a week now. They really are very clever babies :)

Day 29 - November 9, 2006
The Trotters are going to be such demanding babies. I am sure that I have mentioned this before, but the older they get, the more demanding they become. Trigger is the first of our children to eat the wet cat food. I gave Toussaint her lunch today, she ate a bit, then wandered off to see what her babies were doing and when I turned around, here was Trigger munching away, really tucking into it. I'm pleased about this and normally, once one baby starts to eat, everyone else soon follows suit. As they have only just turned 4 weeks old, I'm not bothered at all whether they eat or not yet but obviously, the time is right for Trigger so it will be interesting to see whether or not the other Trotters give it a go as well. I did actually think that Racquel would have been the first to try mum's food as she is the baby who is constantly sniffing around the plate every time Toussaint is fed so it was a surprise to see Trigger eating.

Day 28 - November 8, 2006
Our Trotters are now 4 weeks of age and at this stage of their lives they are doing everything that they should be and I am over the moon with their progress. It's really funny that at the moment, all 4 of our Trotters are rather aptly named. For example, Del Boy is definitely the most outgoing of all 4 babies. Racquel is in dependant, but is not adverse to smacking Del Boy or having an argument with him. Rodney is just dozy bless him, still wanting to follow every one else's lead, and talks far more than he should. Trigger is often doing his own thing, on his own, and no one other than Trigger ever seems to know what it is exactly that he's doing or why he is doing it. They really do love being in the kitten room where they have so much more room now and whenever they are awake and not feeding, they are constantly running about, exploring, and playing little kitten games with each other.
