Day 27 - November 7, 2006
I did manage to take individual photos of the Trotters today at long last and fortunately, they are becoming much more used to be handled and having their photos taken. Having said that, Rodney is still the loudest, and most determined of our Trotters when it comes to being picked up if he is not in the mood for it. Like every other Red series cat, that boy is going to be quite a hand full when he matures :) None of our Trotters are showing any interest at all yet in eating from mum's plate, but they will only be 4 weeks old tomorrow and they are all doing so incredibly well and making good weight gains so I am not bothered at all about weaning them. I know when they are ready, they will start to eat. Let's face it, there's not a baby in the world who can resist a plate of freshly cooked chicken :)

Day 26 - November 6, 2006

You will no doubt have noticed we have skipped a few entries yet again. At the moment, I barely have time to eat or sleep, let alone write the kitten diaries. Friday through to Saturday was immensely hectic as we had visitors each day and a couple of our old babies left us so it has been absolutely manic and I can not seem to find the time to catch with the entries. So yet again, this is a new week and it should (hopefully) be a fairly quiet week in the respect that we have no one due to visit so I am working like mad to try and catch up so that hopefully tomorrow's entries can have photos in them as per normal.

Our Trotters have had a couple of slight changes since the last diary entry with respect that they have now been evicted from our bedroom. During the past few days and nights, they had been running around the bedroom, getting into places that they shouldn't and were keeping us awake all night long. Neither Graham or myself have been getting much sleep at all. It finally came to the point where they had to move out. Of course, this then meant before that could happen, the Burps had to move downstairs, the Gamblers had to move into the upstairs part of the home, and then the Trotters could be moved into the kitten room. Let me assure you, moving babies around is no easy task! Eventually, last night, the Trotters had their first night as "big kittens" in a room all of their own. The kitten room is much safer for them than our bedroom, and they can now run around (and squeal) to their hearts' content which is exactly what they have been doing. Toussaint also seems to prefer having a room all to herself as well and I can't blame her because let's face it, living in a wardrobe for 3 weeks isn't really a lot of fun. Actually, it was fine until the Trotters started running around because up until they, Toussaint and her children were perfectly content in the wardrobe. This also means that I can now get my side of the wardrobe back to normal and might actually be able to find my shoes for a change! There is one other ahem revolution with our Trotters and that is that our dear Cassandra, has now turned back into Trigger as she is most definitely male, and therefore is a Seal Point Siamese. I can confirm to Jill though, that her darling Racquel is indeed, 100% female which is lovely :)

Day 22 - November 2, 2006

Entries are not particularly long today as one of our older fur children is leaving home to live with her new family so it's been a very busy day as you can imagine. I'm also slowly losing the motivation to do any entries because I have had quite a few other bits and pieces to get through as well and time is just getting away from me yet again.

These children are going to be out of control very soon. I just know it! Now who can answer this question for me? Why is it, when very young babies are exploring everything, they have this incessant need to tell the whole world, and their brothers and sisters, what they have found..............at the top of their voices? Our Trotters are very loud little babies when they are on the move and they do squeal in excitement at each new smell. When Toussaint feels that they have explored far enough away from the wardrobe, she gets up and walks over to them, tries to pick them up, only to find they are getting a bit heavy to be carried about now, so instead she has "words" with the offending baby who very dutifully follows mummy back into the wardrobe.

Day 21 - November 1, 2006
Our Trotters are 3 weeks old today and don't they know it! I have to admit they are a huge source of entertainment bless them. Last night in bed, Graham asked me what I was smiling at, so I explained what the Trotters were doing (he can't see them from his side of the bed so he misses out on all the fun). They are all learning to play now and they are so funny to watch. For example, Del Boy was lying on his back, waving all 4 legs in the air, trying to catch Rodney who was wondering what he should be doing when along came Racquel and with every ounce of energy she could muster, she plonked herself straight on top of Del Boy's tummy and proceeded to bite him on the ear. While Del Boy was trying to get out from under Racquel (no mean feat as she is a very strong little girl), it suddenly dawned on Rodney what he should be doing, so he came over and tried to bite Racquel on the bum! This went on for a good half hour and you have honestly never seen anything like it in all of your life. Now in case you're wondering what Cassandra was doing during all of this, well let me tell you. This girl is going to be something else in the personality department. She totally, utterly, has to be a tortie point because she has a mind of her own without a doubt and she is so incredibly determined. She was very busy exploring the bedroom when Toussaint came along and herded her back into the wardrobe. So she then tried to smack her mum on the leg, and when that didn't work (her aim was way off), she went over to her brother Rodney, bit him on the ear, then went around and scrambled on top of Del Boy and Racquel until she was lying on Racquel's back and starting smacking her and attempting to bite her on the leg. By this stage, poor Del Boy had a real problem as he now had both of his sisters on top of him. He did manage eventually to wriggle out from underneath them but they did not give up, they followed him around and around in the wardrobe and finally cornered him and it started all over again. Considering this is Toussaint's first litter, I have to say that she learnt very quickly because while the shenanigans were going on inside the wardrobe, Toussaint just sat in front of the wardrobe, watching her children, but ensuring she was far enough away so that she would not become a victim also. When she felt the babies had played long enough, she went into the wardrobe and told them it was time for a meal and sure enough, everyone settled down to feed.
