Kitten Diaries
Tia Maria
March 2005
Tia Maria's 3rd Kitten Diary - March 2005 to july 2005

Day 60 - May 27, 2005
So far, it's quite a bit cooler today than it was yesterday and the babies' appetites are already increasing and are normal again. All Three of our Musketeers have been chomping away at the dry kitten biscuits which I am pleased about. They've also been out in the cat run again for the majority of the morning.

Day 59 - May 26, 2005
Just like the Planets' diary, there really is not much to say as a lot of my time was spent out in the back yard today and not inside with the babies. We also have quite a lot of catching up to do with other stuff here at the moment and find time to do a diary entry is not particularly easy at the moment. Our Three Musketeers all enjoyed the sunshine yesterday and there was lots of fun and games out in the cat run. Also like the Planets, the Musketeers' did not eat a great deal at all throughout the day, certainly less than they normally would and I am attributing this to the heat. I will be keeping an eye on them all though.

Day 58 - May 25, 2005
The diary went online later than normal today as I had a dental appointment this morning so I am a little bit behind. Our Three Musketeers have spent quite a bit of time in the lounge room today, more so than usual and Tia Maria has also been lying on the lounge so the babies have been jumping on top of her, feeding from her and curling up to sleep with her. It's the quietest she has been for a few days now due to calling. I must also admit that having the Musketeers out there, has made it much quieter here while I sit at the pc as well :) Mind you, it's not quite the same without them climbing all over my desk and keyboard and screaming at me for food. They didn't even budge when Sabre, our large dog went into the loungeroom to lay down on the floor next to the sofa. I had to giggle at D'Artagnan today because Athos & Aramis were up on the dining table. Yes they can reach it now and simply jump on the chairs and then up onto the table. (Can I just add at this point that prior to eating dinner, yes, the table is wiped down and a different table cloth is put on.) Anyway, D'Artagnan tried to jump on the chair but didn't make it so he sat on the floor looking up while Aramis & Athos sat on the edge of the table smirking at him. As the chair was a failure he figured that he may as well scale the tablecloth and get up that way. He was almost successful too. He got about half an inch from the top when Aramis bent down, bit him on the ear, and the poor little guy fell off. I couldn't stop laughing, naturally he wasn't hurt and oddly enough, nor was his pride injured however he gave up on the dining table then as a lost cause.

Day 57 - May 24, 2005
Despite the horrid weather we've had today, all Three Musketeers still ventured into the cat run first thing this morning after breakfast and played games out there. This was prior to the rain starting to fall and I was surprised that they weren't phased at all by the horrid wind that we had here. I must admit though that when it started to sprinkle and get even colder, I did call them in and close the door. Fortunately though, they then started playing chase in the lounge room and all over the sofa and generally creating havoc as per usual. This morning, I spent 15 minutes fighting with Aramis trying to convince her that her small bed is NOT a litter tray. I had just changed all the trays in the house and I noticed Aramis was scratching around on the bed making the obvious signs that she was preparing to go to the toilet. So I picked her up, put her in the small tray, where she promptly jumped out and went back to the bed. This time though, she knew that as I was sitting there waiting, rather than do it in front of me, the little minx dove UNDER the small bed (which sits on a small blanket) and started to scratch around on the blanket under the bed. Again I picked her up and put her in the tray. Again she jumped straight back out and went back to the bed so I crouched down and rested both arms along the edge of the bed so that she couldn't get under it which frustrated her and she started squealing. This brought Sambuca and Tia Maria running over to "rescue" their baby whom I was obviously doing mean things to <sigh>. So I picked her up again, put her back in the small tray and this time, she actually went to the toilet in the tray. Why is it, that her brothers use the tray with no problem in the world, yet Aramis, who does actually use the trays on a regular basis, refused to go in there because it was clean!

Day 56 - May 23, 2005 (8 weeks old today!)
Remember how yesterday I made a comment that Aramis had been so very well behaved and her 2 brothers were the troublemakers instead? Well about an hour after that entry went online, Aramis was back in full force. No one in the house was safe, including me! I do despair of this girl sometimes and it's actually just as well she is going to be remaining with us because I think within a week of being with a new owner they would bring her back :) At the moment, she is sitting on my lap, purring away like mad and is being incredibly loving which is quite nice. Tia Maria was still screaming this morning however it is starting to subside a little now thank goodness and I'm hoping that within a day or two she will have stopped calling altogether. At least she is no longer picking up the babies and trying to drag them around the room and I think they are very grateful for that as well. The Musketeers are currently on 5 meals a day still and this won't be cut down until they are about 10 weeks old. They all really enjoy their food and as soon as they hear me get a plate out of the kitchen, they are at the kitchen door make an incredible amount of noise because they know that rattling plates means food is on the way. I'm really thrilled with their progress to date and they're all doing really well :)
