Kitten Diaries
Tia Maria
March 2005
Tia Maria's 3rd Kitten Diary - March 2005 to july 2005
Day 55 - May 22, 2005
As I had to recharge the camera batteries there are no photos today. This is the first day that Aramis has been very good all day long whereas D'Artagnan and Athos have absolutely been little terrors and have instigated fights with just about every other baby, and their own mothers. As usual, the house has been opened up all day long thank goodness because they have spent as much time in the cat run and in the main part of the house as they have in the back room. They are both keeping Tia Maria very busy and she's spent most of her day chasing after them and screaming at them. Athos has fallen in the water bowl once and D'Artagnan has chased Neptune into the water bowl. I've lost count of how many times the dry food bowls have had their contents scattered throughout the room today. It's time's like this, when it's a Sunday, that I'm wondering why I'm even sitting here at the computer where I could be elsewhere in the house getting some peace and quiet!

Day 54 - May 21, 2005
It's Saturday at long last and I'm really looking forward to this because for the first time in ages, there is no one coming around to view the babies, we don't have to go anywhere at all, and I can catch up on some overdue housework and just chill out a bit which will be lovely. The sun has also been out (for a period of about 1 hour!) which the Musketeers have been appreciative of because they were able to go out into the cat run again today and they had a great time out there, pretending to be big, ferocious tigers. I didn't have the heart to tell them that at this stage, their stalking skills were more like that of 7 week old kittens than scary wild cats. Aramis fell in the water bowl today, just for something different <sigh>. I told her that it serves her right and if she hadn't of been chasing Jupiter with evil intentions on her mind then it would never have happened in the first place. She was most put out by having wet paws and legs so I did dry her off as I couldn't stand the complaints that were coming from her. Why she can't be more sedate like her brothers I really do not know.

Day 53 - May 20, 2005
Athos was most annoyed this morning as he got a smack on the head by Sheridans who is still trying to prove his dominance over the Musketeers and the Planets. It has actually gotten to the stage where I have put Sheridans in the upstairs part of the house while the babies are roaming free throughout the downstairs because he seems to derive great pleasure at creeping up behind them, scaring them, smacking them and then goes after his next victim. Tia Maria is still screaming in full call and is starting to worry her babies because they can not understand why mum is singing in this way or walking around as if she is lost. It's made worse when the babies are wide awake and think they'll have a feed from mum so they follow her around, she stands still for a couple of minutes, the Musketeers stand underneath her and latch on and as soon as they have all latched on, Tia starts walking off and it is rather funny to see her trotting around the house, screaming loudly, with the Three Musketeers, still latched on, trying desperately to keep up. The end result is that they lose grip of the nipples, fall behind and then run after her and trip her up which annoys her a little. D'Artagnan had some lovely cuddles today with Gemma who is possibly going to own him. Gemma also owns Rosemary (now called Cleo) from our last litter (one of the Herbs). At one point in time, Gemma had all Three Musketeers as well as little Mars on her lap so the babies had some wonderful cuddles and actually behaved themselves during Gemma's visit.

Day 52 - May 19, 2005
D'Artagnan is the first of the Musketeers to become a leg climber. Up until now, neither the Musketeers, nor the Planets showed much interest in climbing up our legs however when I was sitting at the computer yesterday afternoon, I felt little pin pricks going all the way up my leg an sure enough, D'Artagnan's head poked out from under the desk and he sat on my lap. I do hope that he doesn't teach everyone else to do this because the first time they do the leg climbing, it is cute, however, after that, it is painful. You may be able to figure out by the photos below that Aramis is a real tomboy and is generally the first to instigate any sort of trouble. I sometimes wonder at my reasoning in keeping this girl here as a future breeding queen. I'm sure her mother was never this naughty, or if she was, I have conveniently forgotten.

Day 51 - May 18, 2005
Following the Planet's example, the Three Musketeers have now been exploring the outside world of the cat run. I found it interesting that they waited at the door and watched what the Planets did first and then when they saw it was okay, they then followed suit and went out into the run to play. They really did enjoy themselves and spent quite a lot of time practicing their stalking. Aramis, who is definitely the bravest of the Musketeers made an attempt to climb the little tree that it is in the cat run. After she made it about a third of the way up, she then jumped off because I think it may have occurred to her that she should practice climbing down before she goes any higher. They are also now starting to spend more and more time in the main part of the house exploring as opposed to playing here in the back room. During "sleep time" though, all Three Musketeers will invariably return to the back room and the security of their beds that they are used to.

Day 50 - May 17, 2005
Just like the Planet's diary states, I did not have time yesterday to do a diary entry as we had so much to do here. Our Musketeers did try and help me with some of my work by climbing all over my keyboard and running in and out behind the monitor. This on it's own is something I could have coped with however Tia Maria was most put out by what they were doing so she jumped straight up onto the desk and started telling off her three babies who didn't take the blindest bit of notice. Every time I put them back on the floor, they went running straight to the other chair to climb up it and get back on the surface again. There is not a single thing in the back room now that the babies are not able to get to.

Day 49 - May 16, 2005 (7 weeks old today!)
With each week that passes, the Three Musketeers get naughtier and naughtier. Typical Siamese babies really and we certainly wouldn't have them any other way. Tia Maria is now in full call...............AGAIN.........screaming her head off throughout the whole of the house. Whenever she is calling, she also gets a bit cranky with her babies and is constantly trying to stop them walking about and is herding them back to bed. Not that they listen very much at all. When I came downstairs first thing this morning it was to find one of the Musketeers on my chair, and 2 on the work surface. Even pushing the chair in overnight made no difference so perhaps it's time to tidy the desk before any damage is done by the babies. The boys have found a wrestling partner in Sambuca which they are really enjoying. Sami lies down on the bed and the boys will run over and pounce on her and roll onto their backs whilst batting Sami's face with their front paws. She in turn pins them down in one paw and starts play biting their ears. Athos has also now learn how to become possessive. He has been walking around today with one of the toy spiders' leg in his mouth, growling ferociously at his brother and sister and scaring them with the noise he was making. It's as if at 7 weeks of age, he now thinks he's a real little man instead of a mummy's boy :)
