Kitten Diaries
Tia Maria
March 2005
Tia Maria's 3rd Kitten Diary - March 2005 to july 2005
Day 97 - July 3, 2005
The Musketeers have decided that their new sleeping place now is in the lounge room with Gonzo the Gorilla. For the past couple of days that is the only place they will sleep so I think our new owners should make sure they have some large, hairy stuffed animals in the house just to keep the boys happy :) I'm going to be rather sad when our boys leave us as they are such a pleasure to have and so incredibly cuddly but I will also be happy because at this age now, they starting to fully settle into our home and family life and I don't think they have any idea that their worlds are soon going to change, even though I have tried to explain it to them.

Day 96 - July 2, 2005
Both diaries are the same for today unfortunately. This was a very hectic start of the weekend for me as there is an awful lot of paperwork to get through, prior to Jupiter and Venus leaving me tomorrow evening. We also had a lovely visit from Marsaili and Ian who will be having Mars, and also from Andrea and Ellice who are having Athos. Then of course, the dryer that we recently bought broke down yet again, and it couldn't have come at a worse time as I had just washed all the lounge cushions, covers etc. and now had nowhere to dry them. Fortunately, all of this had absolutely no effect on our babies whatsoever who just continue to create havoc throughout the house with their fun and games and just get on with life as they know it at the moment.

Day 95 - July 1, 2005
I am not the most popular human in our house today with the Musketeers because I got out that dreaded hoover which on it's own was bad enough, but I also had the steam cleaner out and they were most put out. Up until then, they had been having fun and games all over the lounge and the windowsill which is exactly where I wanted to clean. For some reason, they hate the hoover even more than the Planets do. I keep telling myself that one of these days, rather than run away, they will offer to help me clean but no such luck as of yet :) There's not many photos at all today because just like the last few days, there's an awful lot to do here at the moment. All 3 Musketeers took over the small dog bed this morning, totally refusing to allow Shelley, our little do in there. In they end, I had to physically pick them up and put them on a chair just so that Shelley could use her own bed. I do find that Siamese and Orientals are unable to distinguish what is and isn't there. They are so incredibly arrogant that they automatically assume if something is in the house, then it belongs to them.

Day 94 - June 30, 2005
Today is one of those days where I have too much to get through and nowhere near enough time in the day to get any of it done, including today's entry which is why it didn't go online until the following day. Not that it's a particularly great entry anyway. The Musketeers are at that age now where they really are just like part of our own family and have integrated so well with all of our adult cats and even the dogs. It's going to be very difficult to let them go when the time comes. I was very proud of Athos today who stood up for himself to Sheridans and proved that he really is a man and no longer a little boy. Sheridans was eating from the dry food bowl and because he is such a pig, he will not share the bowl with anyone while he is at it. Even when our adults go near the bowl if he's at it, he will growl at them and bop them on the head. Athos however, was too hungry to care about Sheridan's lack of manners and refusal to share. He went up to the bowl and Sheridans lifted his head out of it, growled at him, and then continued to eat. Athos then went to put his head in the bowl and Sheridans growled again and went to bop him on the head and at this point, Athos stood up as tall as he could, looked Sheridans straight in the eye and growled back in his most ferocious kitten growl. This confused Sheridans as no one stands up to him at the bowl so he backed down after that and headed off to the next closest cat bowl and left Athos to it.

Day 93 - June 29, 2005
As mentioned in the Planet's diary, due to flat camera batteries, there are no photos for today's entry but it should be back to normal tomorrow. Again last night, while we had visiting hour (or hours in most cases!) in our bedroom all 3 of the Musketeers were up and down on the bed, playing games and having cuddles. The only small problem with this is that during cuddle time, because they purr so incredibly loud, you literally have to turn up the volume on the TV so you can actually hear what is being said. The Musketeers amazed me today because while the Planets had gotten themselves into some mischief, Athos, D'Artagnan and Aramis were all content to play downstairs and to mooch about in the cat run. This is probably the first time since the 2 litters were born that the Planets have outdone the Musketeers in mischief. D'Artagnan showed Sabre, our dog, exactly what he thought of her today because Sabre had come out into the back room to indicate that she wanted to go outside and D'Artagnan was eating from the bowl near the door. As soon as he saw Sabre, he growled at her and had a tail like Basil Brush. I'm not actually sure whether or not Sabre startled him or whether he thought that she may have been after his food.

Day 92 - June 28, 2005
As you can tell by the photos below, our babies have spent most of their day throughout the entire house. I have not actually known at any given time which area a baby is actually in but they have been having a lot of fun which is the main thing. Aramis made me giggle as she was showing off to the other babies by proving she could climb the clothes airer that I'd sat in the cat run and yes she did get stuck and no I did not rescue her, I was too busy taking a photograph and laughing at her :) It's been one of those days again where she has been getting into mischief as per usual, and D'Artagnan hasn't been too far behind her. He has spent a good part of the day seeing just how far he can pull the tablecloth down off the table and he did succeed as most of it ended up on the floor. My darling Athos was much more chilled out today and apart from the odd spell where he decided that it was a good day to climb into my filing cabinet while I had the top drawer open and managed to fall into one of the files and then decided to stay there, playing with all the paper, until I took him out and explained that no babies are allowed in the filing cabinets at all. Other than that, life is as per normal :)

Day 91 - June 27, 2005 (13 weeks old now)
Normally when we reach Week 13, I'm preparing for my babies "send off" however, as they are here an extra week, I don't have to worry about all of that just yet. They will be having their last set of vaccinations on Friday which I'm sure they won't be too pleased about. Just like their mum, all 3 of the Musketeers are incredibly clean little babies and I have to laugh after meal times because when they have finished grooming themselves, they then start to groom all the Planets which is really lovely and the Planets enjoy this, particularly as neither mum is now interested in tending to their babies much. Mainly because Tia Maria is now 5 weeks pregnant and her only concerns are the babies she is carrying and Sambuca is much too busy calling her head off and looking for sex than taking care of her own babies. Every evening now, Athos, D'Artagnan and Aramis visit us in the bedroom to play and for cuddles. Thank goodness we are keeping Aramis because when our babies leave, we are going to miss their nightly visits.
