Kitten Diaries

March 2005
Tia Maria's 3rd Kitten Diary - March 2005 to july 2005
Day 83 - June 19, 2005
The Planets and the Musketeers entries are both the same for today and there are no photos sorry. As it was Fathers Day, we did make a "family day" of it and did very little in the way of working on the computers. We also went to see Batman in the afternoon which was really brilliant and well worth watching. So I really didn't have the time to do an entry yesterday but I am hoping that tomorrow's entry will be back to normal.

Day 82 - June 18, 2005
Just as I mentioned in the Planet's diary, I have had a toothache all morning and am waiting for it to subside so this may not be the best of entries in the world sorry. I thought that today I really had best include some "chilled out" photos of our Musketeers because having gone back and seen the photos in this week's entry there are an awful lot of the babies being very active, and a bit naughty and I would hate for Gemma and Andrea to think that their future babies were going to be a handful when they are only a handful for part of the day :) Still, part of the joy of being owned by a Siamese (or indeed Oriental) is enjoying their antics and mischievous moments. I'm actually really going to miss these babies when they leave because they are always "in your face" and we can always rely on them to make us smile. Both boys are so incredibly loving and it's not unusual for either of the to suddenly just appear from nowhere and climb up onto my lap and purr away and share cuddles.

Day 81 - June 17, 2005
The Musketeers were far too busy having fun and games in the cat run this morning and had no interest in having their photos taken so what's below is the best that I could do. Aramis has been in her typical feisty mood, as you can tell by the images of her and D'Artagnan wrestling. Even now, as I type this entry, she is sitting on my lap, Mars is behind me and she is bouncing from side to side of me, trying to smack Mars in the head. I was just about to say that as it stands at the moment, Athos is our most laid back baby, however, at the moment, he is standing on top of a keyboard, trying to climb into the shelf above him. Our Musketeers kitten biscuit appetite is increasing day by day. They really do love the James Wellbeloved biscuits and quite often, you will see them with their heads in the food bowl.

Day 80 - June 16, 2005
The Musketeers had some lovely visits yesterday, particularly Athos, by his new owner, Andrea. This did make him feel rather special as up until now, his brother had visits from his new owner and I guess Athos was feeling rather left out. Aramis, naturally has no visits from her new owners as she's remaining here with us permanently :) The babies are slowly learning their place in the cat family household which is never easy in multi cat households because the "pecking order" does change quite regularly depending on who is and isn't pregnant. It's been a bit difficult to keep track of all the babies as per usual because of a morning, when we give them "whole house access", they all vanish to different parts, some upstairs and some downstairs so every so often, I do a full sweep of the house doing a kitten search to make sure that everyone is okay. I found out who the culprit was that made the mess with the Chinchilla's sand bath and even have photos now as proof and it won't take a genius to figure out which Musketeer was to blame <sigh>

Day 79 - June 15, 2005
I'm not even going to describe the mess in the back room due to overnight parties by the babies. You can read about that in the Planet's diary. For the first time ever (that I can remember), D'Artagnan was the most mischievous, trouble starting, Musketeer this morning. Aramis was perfectly content to sit and watch him as he pounced on anyone who happened to get in his way. of course it is always possible that she was quietly egging him on from the sidelines. As usual though, when he'd finally had enough of stalking and wrestling with everyone else, all he wanted then was cuddles with his human mum. Athos seems to spend each day deciding which Musketeer he is going to take his cue from for that day. For example, some days, whatever Aramis is doing, Athos will follow suit and copy her, and then there are other days, where he instead is close to D'Artagnan and will copy what he is doing. Of course that's not to say that he doesn't have a mind of his own because he gave me quite a scare last night. I had picked up our daughter from Karate and then went to the back room to close the door to the cat run. As it's still quite light outside of an evening, the door to the run is left open much later. After making sure no one was in the run, I closed the door and started the baby count. I counted 2 Musketeers and 4 Planets which meant 2 babies were missing. After a minute, I found the missing Planet who had been snoozing in the CD rack but I still couldn't find Athos. I went back outside into the run and double checked all the hiding places he could be in and still nothing. Then 2 minutes later, I spotted something sitting behind the Chinchilla cage. I have no idea how he got up onto the work surface or how on earth he managed to stuff his body between the cage and the wall but he had. What was worse was that I had been calling and calling him and he obviously was sitting there watching me (no doubt laughing at me) and refusing to answer. I was rather relieved when I found him and did give him lots of cuddles. I then pushed the Chinchilla cage right back against the wall so that hopefully he won't be able to get back in behind it.

Day 78 - June 14, 2005
Our Three Musketeers have spent most of their day today out in the lounge room, running about all over the sofa and the windowsill until they eventually tired themselves out and went to sleep until it was time to wake them up for their lunch time meal. It's been a fairly busy day here (hence the lack of photos) as I've been trying to organise things like kitten registrations and other paperwork for our current babies and I haven't had a great deal of time to do much else. The Musketeers have been ruining my chair, or at least, making it far worse than it ever used to be. I really do not know how many more litters my chair will be able to cope with. The babies were happy today when the sun came out just before lunch and had lots of games as per usual in the cat run with their favourite game still being "stalking and pouncing" and I do have to say that the Musketeers are getting quite good at this game.

Day 77 - June 13, 2005 (11 weeks old today)
At 11 weeks of age our babies are still no closer to becoming, regal, demure cats as befits their breed but as I watch their mad games, I do think that I wouldn't really want them any other way. Athos now has a new game which is rather exhausting for me and one that he loves a great deal. It's called: "let's sneak into the kitchen". Every time I open the kitchen door, he is in like a shot. He just zooms past me from out of nowhere, totally unexpectedly and races to the other end of the kitchen where he tries to hid behind the bin. The first time he does this, it is a fun game, by the 4th or 5th time when I still have not managed to take my coffee out of the kitchen, it starts to become slightly less funny (to me anyway). It doesn't matter how I try to stop him coming in, nothing works and he always finds a way around me. I also think that Aramis has had a word with D'Artagnan about the fact that he wasn't as naughty as she is because since yesterday, he has been copying nearly everything she does and has gotten himself into as much trouble as she has. Of course, with him it is slightly more endearing because when he's finished, he jumps straight up onto your lap, gives you kisses and rubs his face against my cheek and purrs away non stop and with such love like this, we could forgive him anything.
