Day 48 - June 26, 2004
Our babies had a late breakfast this morning as their human mummy (myself) slept in. I then woke up panicking that the little ones were starving. Obviously that wasn't the case as they have plenty of dry food in the room. As it turns out, when I opened up the kitten room to give them their breakfast, they were all still sound asleep as well. I'm not sure how though with the screaming that the mother was doing because Tia is still calling! After much thought and studying of body parts, Tina has given me her opinion on the R's colours and I do agree with everything Tina said so it looks like the colours of our babies have finally been sorted once and for all (hopefully). We have:
Danny
Male
Blue Tabby Point
Gino
Female
Chocolate Tabby Point
Daisy
Female
Lilac Tabby Point
Birchy
Female
Chocolate Tabby Point (milk choc.)
Rosie
Female
Chocolate Tabby Point (milk choc.)
Rolly
Female
Blue Point

Rosie had a horrid (in her mind) experience last last night. The R's were tearing up and down the hall and in the bathroom like crazy babies and Birchy had jumped up onto a lower shelf above the water bowl when Rosie came up and was trying to climb up as well and Birchy didn't want her that so she pushed Rosie into the water bowl. I will say here that it's actually a dog's water bowl so is quite large. Naturally, Rosie got rather wet and had to be towel dried. She was most put out by the whole experience. At long last, our babies have now ventured down the stairs, well some of them anyway. I can not understand why, when they've had the run of the upstairs and part of the downstairs, they wouldn't walk down the stairs. Rosie was the first to come down the stairs this morning and was soon followed by Daisy. A couple of the other stood at the top and watched and then Birchy came down as well, promptly jumped into the book shelf in the hallway and started chewing on hubby's shoes. Hopefully in the next day or two, the others will all follow suit and start navigating the stairs as well.

Day 47 - June 25, 2004
Early yesterday evening, the R's were not impressed with me yet again as it was worming time again. (I worm the babies every 2 weeks once they turn 3-4 weeks of age). As they were older this time around, worming was a much messier affair and after each baby was wormed, he/she had to go in the cat carrier so that I wouldn't mix up who had and who hadn't been done. Rolly made me giggle today because I was sitting here at the pc and suddenly a little blue head appeared, going from side to side, at the top of one of the filing cabinets. I was taken aback as obviously she wouldn't have been able to climb up the side of the filing cabinet. When I leant over to see how she got up there I noticed that she had climbed up the curtains behind the cabinet until she became level with the top of the cabinet and then started swinging. .and was swinging on the curtains. Obviously I took her off the curtains and explained to her that climbing curtains is a naughty thing to do even though she looked very sweet hanging there. All babies are fully litter trained now and they have graduated from the show litter tray to a much larger tray. In the next week or so I'll be introducing them to a hooded litter tray as that is what we use throughout our house. It will be interesting to see what they think of it. Many, many thanks to my dear friend and great breeder, Tina of Maroochydore Siamese & Orientals who is giving me her opinion on my babies colours (from very badly taken photographs I might add!). Tina has been such a help to me since I started breeding not so long ago and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. The reason there is such a lack of photos today is because I had to take individual pics of each baby's body parts i.e. ears, tails, paw pads, noses to send to Tina and it was incredibly time consuming. Thanks also to our daughter Mo, for her patience in helping me with photos of the R's. Her arms and hands were covered in little scratches by the time we had finished and she never once complained.

Day 46 - June 24, 2004
As requested from one of the R's new owners, I've put individual head shots of each baby below. When the babies are viewed all at once and they're running around like loonies, it's very difficult to distinguish who is who and can be confusing for the owners so hopefully this will help some of you. I will actually try and remember to do this once a week. The R's have spent most of their day down here with me today and so far have tipped over my wastepaper bin 3 times and pulled everything out of it. Danny has run into the kitchen twice now and Daisy stood on the top of her cat carrier in preparation to jump over the barrier to get outside into the cat run. On the whole, it's been a normal day for my little fur terrors. When I opened up the kitten room this morning I soon wished I hadn't. I have no idea what the R's were doing overnight but with the mess that greeted me I think they must have had a massive party. There was litter all over the floor, toys scattered everywhere, the teddy bear which resides on the chair was now under it, half the contents of the water bowl was all over the floor so whatever they were doing, they seemed to have a good time of it. At the time of writing this entry, all babies are sound asleep in the cat bed with Tia and looking like little angels who would never do anything wrong.

Day 45 - June 23rd, 2004
One thing I did forget to mention is that the R's have had some visitors recently. Over the last few days we've had 3 sets of their new owners pop over to see how their future babies are progressing. It was lovely to see the new owners, 2 sets I have met previously, and I do hope they were all pleased with our babies. In regards to temperament, I'm really pleased with the R's progress to date. They made the move downstairs with no problems whatsoever and within minutes of being down here, they are happily playing and tearing the room apart. The only thing they haven't done yet (still) is venture down the stairs. I really do not know why this is the case but I'm sure it won't be too long before they realise that there's another room at the bottom of the stairs. Their games are really getting quite rough now at times and it's not unusual to be sitting at the pc and suddenly hearing an incredibly loud squeal because someone has bitten someone else on the ear or tail. I'm also happy to say that I have seen the babies eating dry kitten food now which I hadn't previously seen. They didn't appear to be showing much interest in it at all however that does seem to be changing.

Day 44 - June 22nd, 2004
I've had to now start feeding the R's on two separate plates as their heads are too big too fit around one plate any more. When I weighed Danny last night I was stunned (although I don't know why) to see that at 6 weeks and 2 days of age, he now weighs a whopping 810grams!!. The other 5 R's are all in the 600-700gram stage which is more normal. The babies still aren't sure about venturing down the stairs yet although I was trying to encourage them yesterday. I think 4 steps was the maximum they would come down before scooting back up. Now I remember why I had the Charmed Ones downstairs at an earlier age.................because it's so much fun to have my babies here in the room with me, destroying everything, creating a mess, ripping my chair to shreds, going where they shouldn't etc. etc. They've had tremendous fun during the time with me today, and I must admit that I've enjoyed it as well. Within the first 5 minutes of being in the room, both Birchy and Daisy had run into the kitchen when I opened the door to make a coffee, Rosie went behind the tubs of food and litter and got lost, Danny was on his way outside into the cat run before I had the chance to get the barrier up. It's been fun and games all around and to watch them out here with me is a wonderful reminder of why I breed. Drambuie & Sambuca are stunned at the sudden onset of 6 new babies in the house and after I brought the R's down, both Ori babies just sat on the other side of the glass door watching everything that went on, begging to be let in. The R's had no interest in the cats on the other side of the door because they haven't noticed them yet, they're more too concerned with playing their games and exploring their new "house".

Day 43 - June 21st, 2004
The photos below aren't the best in the world, however you will hopefully get a general idea of exactly what terrors my little R's really and truly are. When they are awake storm throughout the upstairs, leaving a trail of destruction behind them. Even when I'm sitting downstairs I know exactly when they are asleep and when they are playing. I do feel sorry for poor Tia Maria because she can't control her babies any longer. When they are being really naughty and biting her tail, she turns around to chastise them and gives them a nip but it doesn't stop them at all. She is still calling at the moment so between the babies noise and Tia's screaming you really need ear muffs to live in our house at the moment. Mind you, I wouldn't have it any other way. We've had lots of arched backs and bushy tails on our babies today because they keep insisting on jumping out at each other from behind doors and scaring each other so that they leap into the air. There's not a single baby who doesn't participate in the rough and tumble games. It really is a free for all and is so very amusing to just step back and watch them. This is where the babies become "time wasters" and not a great deal gets done because it's much more enjoyable watching them play than it is to do the housework. I've decided that tomorrow is the day that the babies will come downstairs for a visit so that's going to be very interesting indeed. I'm sure Tia will appreciate it as I can put a little barrier up and she can then go out into the cat run if she wishes as she hasn't been out in the cat run since she gave birth.

Day 42 - June 20th, 2004 (6 weeks old today!)

There really is no entry for today as last night I lost my battle with one of Cacao's babies and then during the day today, I lost another little angel. This is been a very difficult day for me as you can imagine.

The R's are all doing really well and now have access to the stairs and the front foyer. Yesterday, I watched as they tentatively started coming down the stairs, however, after about 3 steps, their courage ran out and they scrambled back up to the top. Poor Daisy did have a little tumble down the stairs, however, no harm was done and after a lick or two from her mum, and after being examined by me, she was happy to go back to creating havoc with her sisters and brother. One thing that has definitely increased is their appetite which is now huge. The little darlings are eating me out of house and home and whatever they leave on their plate, Tia Maria is sure to finish it off. One day this week will be the start of bringing the babies downstairs during the day to be with me. It was supposed to be Monday, however, I'm just not ready for it at the moment.
