Kitten Diaries
Tia Maria
May 2004
Tia Maria's 2nd Kitten Diary - May 2004 to august 2004
Day 76 - July 24, 2004
As I stated in the Potter's diary, it's been a horrible day as I have a bad dose of the flu that looks like it will be here with me for a little while. So in between feedings, scooping litters etc. I'm trying to get as much rest as possible however that's not very easy with 2 litters in the house. The R's have completely taken over my office now and I've actually not spent a great deal of time in here today.

Day 75 - July 23, 2004
The R's aren't overly impressed with me today as it was worming time again. Thank goodness I will only have to worm them once more prior to leaving here. The older they get, the messier the worming becomes. Poor little Birchy has a scratch/cut on her nose where her big brother played too rough with her so I'm not very happy with Danny. Birchy is okay an it doesn't bother her and it's the first time any of our little ones have ever been so rough that they have harmed one of the others. Danny is a very naughty boy indeed and really needs to learn not to be so rough with his more petite sisters. All the babies are doing really well and as I write this, they are all sound asleep, it's very peaceful and I have managed to get quite a bit done on the pc today thank goodness as I've been very far behind with everything. The work in the kitchen will stop today thank goodness and won't be finished off now until the end of the year and I'm really pleased because every time the kitchen door is opened, the babies try to go running straight in there which is a problem as the back door in the kitchen is permanently left open which means the babies could get out into our back yard.

Day 74 - July 22, 2004
Well it's been another hectic day here as per usual, the kitchen work is still being done, and I seem to have babies all over the place. I actually said to our daughter last night that while it is so wonderful having the little ones, I will be looking forward to November when we actually have no babies in the house for once as it's been very tiring this year. Having said that, I know even now, that I'm going to be very upset when the R's do actually leave us. The babies are sick and tired of the heat I think and are all rather lethargic, although this morning they were incredibly active and were playing very rough games with each other. Some of them are asleep here on the chairs at the moment, whilst the smarter ones are outside in the cat run where it is much cooler. They are all eating loads and loads of the dry kitten food (eating me out of house and home actually) but are not particularly interested in any wet/moist food and I'm not surprised at all in this weather. Tia however, is still playing chase and fetch with her beanie toys and is not affected at all by how warm it is. The photos today are simply all called "The R's" as I really don't have the time to type the individual names on each photo sorry.

Day 73 - July 21, 2004
The R's had obviously had lots of fun in the room overnight because when I came downstairs this morning, there were toys everywhere, litter and food had been scattered all over the place, and there were quite a few CD's on the floor that they had obviously pulled out of the CD rack. When I opened the door this morning, they all ran straight outside to play in the cat run and fortunately expelled quite a bit of pent up energy because when they had finished playing, I fed them breakfast and they promptly went back to sleep for a few hours so I did have a bit of peace. They weren't given access to the rest of the house today because with the kitchen work going on and other bits and pieces, it really is too difficult to be locking doors and moving cats around at the moment.

Day 72 - July 20, 2004
You'll be pleased to see that there are actually some photos in today's entry. The R's did sleep downstairs last night which made it much easier for me again so from here on in, the back room will be their permanent bed time room. It's very difficult to concentrate on anything today as our kitchen is currently being re done and the kitchen is right next to the room that I work in. Fortunately, the banging from the kitchen has not affected the R's at all as they aren't taking a blind bit of notice. We had some good progress today with the R's and the other cats in the house. For the last 2 days when the R's have had the run of the house and mingle with our other fur kids, they were very wary of the other cats, however today, the R's were happy to go out into the cat run while both Kahlua and Sambuca were there and they played as normal and paid no attention to the other cats. Rosie actually sat on a ledge very close to where Kahlua was sitting and was not bothered at all so I'm really very pleased with how they are coping with being "grown up kittens" now.

Day 71 - July 19, 2004
I'm hoping to get back to normal today, particularly with the entries. I've now brought the diary back up to date, however, there wasn't really a great deal to say. The R's had the run of the entire house today, along with our other cats and the dogs which was quite a shock to the R's I think. I put Tia in our bedroom because she is still so over-protective that she will fight with any other animal who even looks at her babies. The R's coped really well with the new "change" in their lives, and spent the majority of the day just exploring the house. Their play sessions seem to last longer now than they have previously and whereas before, when it was play time and sleep time, all the R's would play and sleep together but now, it's not unusual to see some of them asleep while other's are playing and vice versa. Tia spent most of last night screaming her head off as she's still calling and she seems to get louder every night. I think tonight the R's will be sleeping back downstairs with their mum and at least that way, Tia won't be waking up the entire household.

Day 70 - July 18, 2004 (10 weeks old today!)
It's been such a hectic weekend which is why there are no photos and the entries are relatively short. I've had so much to catch up on today, particularly around the house so I thought it wise not to bring the R's downstairs at all today. They didn't seem to mind however as they now have their favourite sleeping places upstairs and they have tremendous games with the washing basket lid which is really funny to watch. We let them come into the bedroom for a little while last night which they enjoyed, as did we. As soon as the bedroom door is opened, the babies come tearing in and jump straight up on the bed to see us. Some of them will just snuggle up with and watch television, others will run around the bed chasing each other and playing games.
