Day 62 - February 16, 2004
I've just got off the phone to the vets and the Charmed Ones are booked in for the first set of vaccines tomorrow. They will be having the 3 in 1 vaccine which covers, Cat Flu, Enteritis and Leukemia and I must admit that I am rather nervous about it all. Even though the majority of times there are absolutely no side effects, it doesn't mean that it never happens. Like yesterday, the Charmed Ones were awake for the majority of the morning and they are sound asleep at the moment so I'm making the most of it and am finishing off today's entry. Paige is the only girl who had the sense to go back to sleep for part of the morning although I'm not sure how she could sleep with the noise that the other babies were making. Paige & Piper's new owner will be coming to see them this weekend which will be great so let's hope the girls behave themselves.

Day 61 - February 15, 2004
Well the Charmed Ones weren't too happy with me today as I slept in until 9am! This of course meant a late breakfast for them so they were most unimpressed. They obviously felt that I was starving them because when I came back upstairs with their breakfast, they squealed at the top of their voices until I put it down for them. They got the revenge though by scattering litter throughout the entire kitten room. This is the 3rd day in a row now with no photos but I will definitely be putting photos in tomorrow's entry. Pru had lovely cuddles today with her now owner Jacqueline which was wonderful. She fell asleep in Jacqueline's arms and I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Jacqueline or Pru. It was also lovely to meet Jacqueline's sister, Marcelle who will be having a baby for Tia's next litter. The other 3 Charmed Ones were more interested in sleeping during Jacqueline's visit than they were in showing themselves off. Their weight gains were good again last night and once they reach 10 weeks of age I will probably stop weighing them. They girls had a lovely run around the lounge room yesterday and proceeded to climb the curtains, play chase on the windowsill and wrestle each other on the lounge. Paige fell off the lounge once whilst Phoebe fell off the windowsill.

Day 60 - February 14, 2004
Tia's and Cacao's diary entries are both exactly the same for today and I'm afraid there isn't a single photo. Hopefully I'll get back on track with the entries by tomorrow morning. I wasn't around today as I was showing one of our girls, Amaretto, at a cat show all day, so it was a case of getting up very early to feed the babies and clean up the kitten room, before rushing off to the show. I came back at about 11am to feed the babies again and clean up more mess, then went back to the show for the rest of the afternoon. It was really lovely to see Jacqueline (new owner of one of the Charmed Ones) and Caryll (new owner of Gabby) at the show. Even though I didn't get to spend a lot of time with them due to interruptions by other people, I hope they did enjoy themselves and I'm looking forward to seeing them later on this afternoon when Caryll will be seeing darling Gabby for the first time ever. I think it will be love at first sight. Arrived home approximately 5.15pm to feed the babies, clean up yet again more mess, spend some time with them before then unpacking show equipment, washing show blankets, etc. so I truly wasn't around a great deal at all which is why this entry has nothing in it :)

Day 59 - February 13, 2004
This afternoon, I will be putting the mums up in the kitten room, while the babies have the run of the downstairs at the same time that the dogs were in the house. This way, the dogs aren't at risk of being attacked by the mums, and the babies can explore the house and then go up to the dogs at their own leisure if they choose to do so. All breakable objects will be removed from Phoebe's reach and I will stay in the lounge room the whole time to watch everything that goes on. Our girls' all love their food and their weight gains are still going really well. Tia is still calling like mad and we are beginning to wonder if she will ever stop! She keeps trying to get out the door at every opportunity and on the few occasions that she has escaped me, she has gone straight to Ice who is usually lurking around the other side of the door. The Charmed Ones have spent most of the morning creating havoc here in the room with me. They are such curious little babies and very active ones as well. I'm pleased that their activity centre was such a huge success with them. Whenever they are awake, they are either climbing all over it, or falling off it, or pushing the other babies off it. It's now occurred to me that the Charmed Ones no longer rely on Tia for the food, even though they do still feed from her. I figured this out over the last couple of days because whenever the girls are feeding from Tia, if she gets up and moves away now, they don't care at all, nor do they squeal because they're still hungry. This indicates that they are feeding from her more for comfort than anything else. To prove this, just now, Phoebe & Pru were both feeding from her, Tia got up and walked away so both girls went straight to the dry kitten food and started munching away. I'm not sure when this food dependency from mum stopped but it must have happened sometime when I wasn't looking. Either they are really starting to grow up now or........I am just feeding them too much :) :) Don't look online tomorrow for Saturday's diary entry as it won't be going online until Sunday due to the fact that I'll be out for most of the day.

Day 58 - February 12, 2004
A very interesting afternoon yesterday! Just after lunch, Pru & Paige spent 1/2 hour fighting all on our daughter's office chair, wrestling & biting each other's ears. Poor Piper hopped up to have a look and Pru & Paige took hold of one of her ears each and bit them. After this, Piper, in her usual fashion, decided to explore the work top where yet again she promptly fell off, although not in the litter tray this time. We thought we would give the babies the run of the downstairs, under very close supervision. Everything was going beautifully. The babies absolutely loved it as they had all this massive new space to explore. They climbed the curtains, jumped all over the lounge, played chase and scare each other for ages. We then brought out dogs in from outside to see how they would interact with the babies and vice versa, all under very close supervision by myself because even though I know our own dogs, I don't believe that young kittens and dogs should ever be left alone unsupervised. The dogs just lay down watching all the little furries run around and they didn't really have any interest in them at all. Shelley didn't really care about the babies at all other than to have a sniff of the ones who went near her. Everything was going great until Sabre walked out to the lounge room to see what we going on. She made the mistake of going to close to the lounge where Phoebe was so Phoebe hissed and spat. This of course brought both mums straight over to "defend" their baby. A massive argument broke out, both mums attacked Sabre who couldn't get away quick enough. The problem is of course that poor Sabre, would never hurt any of the cats as she is very used to cats in her life as our cats and dogs live in the house side by side. As a result now, whenever either mum see Sabre, they go berserk which means we have rather a large problem. If that wasn't bad enough..............20 minutes later, Phoebe somehow managed to get on top of the television and knocked off a really lovely ornamental clock we have (or used to have!) and broke it!!! After this, the babies were returned to the other side of the door to have the run of the upstairs and the downstairs foyer. It's Sabre that I feel sorry for as all she wanted to do was see what the furries were doing in the lounge room. I'm going to have my work cut out for me now re-socialising both mums with Sabre which is a shame because all the cats (apart from Tia) would share Sabre's bed, play with her tail and give her kisses. Fortunately, the incident didn't have any effect on the behaviour of Sabre and our other 3 adult cats.

Day 57 - February 11, 2004
I've had some really lovely cuddles with Paige today who wasn't interested in sleeping this morning. All she wanted to do was climb on my lap and play with my fingers and purr very loudly. Our babies have been getting into lots of mischief during the last 24 hours. Piper fell off my work top and landed straight in the litter tray which then required some "cleaning". She wasn't hurt, however her pride certainly was. Phoebe thought she would battle it out with mum last night and kept running up to Tia, smacking her in the mouth and then running away to hide in small places where Tia couldn't reach her. Tia eventually caught her, pinned her down and bit her on the leg. Pru, in all her stupidity, went running up the hallway and forgot to stop and hit the bath tub head on. Again, nothing injured except her pride! If that isn't bad enough, after I fed the babies this morning and let them all out to have the run of the place, 20 minutes later, I went up to clean out the kitten room to find they had pulled quite a large amount of toilet paper off the roll in the bathroom and took it into the kitten room where they proceeded to tear it all up. They've started using their new activity centre now because they have been watching both mums use it quite a lot so they are getting the hang of it. Paige and Pru were on it last night playing "Gladiators" to see who could knock who off the platform first! I am getting today's entry finished in one go today as all the little monsters are sound asleep at the moment :) I haven't really taken any good photos at all today so I will try and take some later on this afternoon or this evening.

Day 56- February 10, 2004 (8 weeks old today!)
Well our Charmed Ones have now made it to 8 weeks of age and are going to get a huge shock next week when they go for their first set of vaccinations. I bought the babies a new toy (photo below) today which I'm hoping they'll get a lot of use out of during the next few weeks. After finally constructing it, there wasn't any interest whatsoever from the babies, however their mums were delighted with it. Once the babies go to new homes I know that our other cats are going to love it as well. As I write this, only 2 babies are actually awake, Pru and Calisto, and they are both on my lap at the moment so I have to keep stopping so I can give them little cuddles. Tia is STILL calling and is driving us mad, particularly as Ice is on the other side of the door and when Tia calls, he calls back in response. This means that as soon as we open the door, both Tia and Ice are trying to "get to each other" so we have to be really careful at the moment. The Charmed Ones are following in their mother's footsteps when it comes to doors now because as soon as a door is opened, they want to be on the other side. Normally during the evening, the babies are kept in their kitten room but I'm considering giving them the run of the upstairs and part of the downstairs all evening now as they are getting to large really to be confined to one room of a night time.
