Kitten Diaries

Tia Maria's 1st Kitten Diary - December 2003 to march 2004
Day 83 - March 8, 2004
Well our Charmed Ones had their 2nd (and last) set of vaccines today so as usual, I'll be watching them very closely for the next 48 hours. All girls were beautifully behaved and not one of them squirmed or cried so I was really proud of them. After coming home from the vets they had some fish and kitten food and then settled down to sleep. Again, there is no redness on their necks from the injection so I'm really pleased. Due to problems with Calisto, the Charmed Ones were put to bed reasonably early last night but fortunately, they were very good about it and just played in their room for a while and then went to sleep. Mind you, they were probably very tired as for hours prior to dinner, and just after dinner, they were tearing around like lunatics, jumping in and out of the bathtub and generally creating quite a racket. The girls have been getting lots of extra cuddles from me recently because they are going to be leaving me so soon that I'm trying to love them as much as possible between now and then. I didn't bring any of the babies downstairs at all today because after their vaccines, I wanted them upstairs where they won't be disturbed and can go where they like without any interruption or stress at all. This naturally means I have to keep going upstairs to check on them all but they are doing really well. I had to wake Pru and Piper up for lunch which was unusual, however, once they smelt the food, they couldn't wait to eat it and they then spent some time running about and playing so it is all looking good at the moment. Apologies for the lack of photos over the last couple of days but I will definitely take some much later on this afternoon and will put them up tomorrow.

Day 82 - March 7, 2004
I'm pleased to say that our registration papers arrived back for the Charmed Ones yesterday. For those who don't know, after I had registered the babies, I had to send the paperwork back in with a colour change as Paige turned out to be Seal, not Blue. At least it's all sorted now and I can get started on the new owner's paperwork. The Charmed Ones did not want to go to bed last night and for the first time in a while I had to go searching for them to put them to bed in the Kitten Room. Every time I put one in the door, another came out wanting more games. After about 10 minutes I finally had them all in there and they started to settle down. Phoebe enjoyed some lovely cuddles today with her new mum, as well as with her Aunty Viv. Unfortunately she did sleep the entire time, as did most of the rest of the babies which is always the way. I'm sure new owners don't believe me when I tell them how naughty their babies are because whenever they come to see them, they are always asleep. I'm sure they will find out soon enough though :)

Day 81 - March 6, 2004
It's not much of an entry today as I will be in an out so won't be with the babies all day long as I usually am. This is also why there's no photos for today's entry sorry. The Charmed Ones are just getting too fast for me now. Every time I open a door, they manage to dart through it before I can catch them, with Paige & Pru being the worst offenders! They made a big mess in the kitten room when I went in this morning, but fortunately, Graham took pity on me and cleaned it all up so I was rather happy. Each diary entry is another reminder that Paige and Piper will be leaving me in just 9 days time! It's going to be very quiet without them and I'm really going to miss their cuddles, perhaps it's time I had serious thoughts about mating someone else and having more babies soon :) Phoebe is still the most vocal and the loudest of all the Siamese. The other 3 still sing, just not as loudly as Phoebe.

Day 80 - March 5, 2004
The diary entries are going to be a bit behind for the next couple of days as we have quite a lot going on here. Our Charmed Ones weights seem to have stagnated for the time being, there's no huge increases at the moment, however all girls are a big healthy size and I'm sure when they go with their new families they will soon be eating them out of house and home! The older they are getting, the more loving and attention seeking they are becoming, just like typical Siamese really. All 4 girls now jump in the bath tub as I caught them at it last night. They play a "chase" game throughout the upstairs hallway where they start at the stairs and chase each other up the hallway and whoever is in the lead takes a flying leap up onto the bath and then in the bath and waits till the other catches up. In one way, they get more time consuming as they get older because you are forever having to stop what it is you're doing to pick them up, cuddle them, or sit down and scratch under their ears.

Day 79 - March 4, 2004
Unfortunately I still didn't manage to take any more photos last night as the batteries still weren't charged by the time I went upstairs. Our Charmed Ones weight gains are coming along really nicely and all babies still love their food very much. Now that they are older, I was expecting them to be more particular about their food but all 4 girls will eat just about anything, and while they may have some foods they like more than others, they will still eat whatever is put down in front of them. They haven't had their daily visit from Uncle Ice for the last 2 days as Ice is now growing up and has spent the last 2 days learning how to "work" (in other words, learning the aspects of courting women) and we don't want him distracted by the babies. It's only 11 days now until the first of our babies leave to go to their new homes and that time is coming all too quickly. The more they grow up, the more attached I get to them and the more attached they are getting to me. All 4 girls are extremely affectionate and they have all learnt how to "sing" to get attention from me (or anyone else in the vicinity). They still aren't sure of our dogs, however they are much braver now than ever. I caught both Paige & Piper going up to Sabre today to sniff her paws and sniff her face, while Sabre just looked on bored as usual.

Day 78 - March 3, 2004
It's been a very quiet day today with nothing out of the ordinary happening at all. The Charmed Ones came downstairs about 10am and spent the day either here in the room with me, or running about like mad kittens. When they are awake I'm always amazed at the amount of energy they have. The girls just do not stop running, playing, chasing and play fighting. This could be the reason that their appetites are so good because these girls really do love to eat. Now that the weather is improving, we open the windows up during the day (we have wire over the windows so our cats can't get out) and the babies think it's wonderful. They sit on the window sill sniffing the outside world and watching what goes by. I think the fresh air does them the world of good. I will be taking photos tonight and will them in here tomorrow as the batteries in the camera died and are currently re-charging.

Day 77 - March 2, 2004 (11 weeks old today!)
The Charmed Ones were little terrors last night and this morning. They spent hours and hours bounding about all over the place scaring each other and playing chase. At least they have stopped trying to climb up my legs so that's a bonus, although instead, they now spend most of the time trying to trip me up whenever I move about. I've had to give my chair up to them for the time being because all 4 girls took over my chair and are sound asleep on it! They had some "quiet" time today as both mums and the Oriental litter were at the vets, although Pru and Paige didn't want to be left behind and as we were about to leave, they were at the front door with us, wanting to follow us out. I'm sure they would have changed their minds if they had known where we were going. Paige should make the 1 kilo mark tonight as she was only 5 grams off it last night. They had some lovely games again with Uncle Ice this morning and it's really funny to see how fascinated they are with him.
