Day 34 - February 25, 2008

All 5 diary entries are exactly the same today.

Many apologies for the lack of entries during the past few days. I could not begin to tell you just how incredibly busy it has been here during the weekend. We had a stream of visitors all day Saturday and then on Sunday, I was at a TICA cat show and had a fantastic time with some very interesting results. As such, today has been spent doing mountains and mountains of washing, and it's already 1419 and I'm only halfway through it. The problem with being away for just one day means that I have twice as much to do now. We also have our Indians who are in the throes of leaving us so I also need to spend quite a bit of time sorting out an awful lot of paperwork.

The babies were in Graham's care during my absence on Sunday and when I arrived home from the show that evening all the babies and mum's were doing perfectly fine and had coped extremely well without me. It will probably be another couple of days before I can manage to get some new photos online but I'm hoping that by the end of tomorrow afternoon I will have caught up with everything and will be back to normal.

Day 31 - February 22, 2008
You can probably tell by the photos below that Depeche Mode has been learning some bad habits from our Archangels and he now likes to play pounce and wrestle games with all of the other babies. His brother Genesis is much more petite and he definitely loves the company of the mum's and the much younger babies, he is a little dolly really :) I don't think I could actually describe Frankie Goes To Hollywood particularly well at the moment because she never stands still in one spot long enough to actually be able to determine anything about her character. As far as she is concerned, there is always somewhere exciting to be or something to do. As such, she alternates her time between the 2 posh boxes and will happily go to every single mum in the room whenever she wants a meal.

Day 30 - February 21, 2008

There are not many photos today sorry because I had a kitten family visit this morning and our next few days are incredibly busy with quite a lot going on, including more kitten families visiting but I am going to endeavour to get at least a short entry and a few photos online each day.

All of our kittens had their first set of visitors today and every kitten bar one was happy to be picked up, cuddled, stroked, etc. The baby who was most unimpressed at seeing "strangers" was darling little Genesis bless him. Speaking of Genesis, he decided that he would turn into a Blue Tabby Point, wasn't that nice of him? :) His brother and sister were perfectly happy with being handled by people they did not know but Genesis was not having it at all. This tells me that I personally need to spend more time with him touching him and picking him up until he is as relaxed as his siblings when people come to visit.

Day 29 - February 20, 2008

Things definitely seem to be settling down now with Tia Lusso and the babies and I think finally allowing them to mix in with everyone else has made a difference to Lucy's attitude although there are still tensions between she and Cointreau. Our 80's Group are little darlings and are really do enjoy life. They don't spend all of their time in Sami and Lucy's box though as sometimes I do see them exploring the kitten room although I'm not actually sure how they are managing to get out of the box as I've not seen them scramble over the opening yet. Still, it won't be long until Sami's box is permanently open and they will be able to come and go as they please.

Genesis is now happy to eat the kitten mixture as well which pleases me and she makes the funniest little noises while she eats and it's fairly obvious that she is going to be a girl who really enjoys her food. Frankie Goes To Hollywood still does not want to eat the kitten mixture but she is doing quite well so I'm not that bothered at the moment.

Day 28 - February 19, 2008

All entries start off the same today..........................None of the mum's know who owns which baby any more and it is total and utter bedlam in the kitten room. This morning, I did away with the kitten pen and whilst there are still 3 posh boxes set up in the kitten room, the mothers and babies are choosing to use 2 of them only. Of the 3 boxes still set up, only 2 are being used and as for which baby is in which box at any given time is anyone's guess. Lucy is sharing Sambuca's box, but with other babies, whilst Cointreau, Nocello and Amaretto are still sharing their large box, with their babies and others. The biggest problem is that I have to keep a very close eye on Sami's children. They are only 15 days old and I can NOT let them be out of the box exploring or walking around as it is way too early for this to happen and we already had one little incident with Ritz this morning!

At 4 weeks of age, I'm pleased to say that our 80's Group are doing quite well and Depeche Mode is the first of our children to actually start eating from a plate. When I took the mum's breakfast in this morning, I was trying to encourage the Archangels and the 80's Group (to be honest, anyone who happened to wander near the plate) to sniff the food and perhaps try it. Of course, no one was really interested because let's face it, at this age a tray of food is there solely to walk through and not for any other reason. When I happened to try with Depeche Mode I was stunned to see him put his little mouth in the food and start eating as if he'd always been doing it. If I can also get Genesis and Frankie Goes To Hollywood to follow suit I will be extremely happy.

Unlike our other kitten diaries, there are no entries prior to this one. The reason is that Lucy was causing immense problems for dear Cointreau and as a result, I spent more "personal" time with Lucy and her children than I did with the other babies. It was more important that the problems between Lucy and our other mummies were resolved than it was writing a kitten diary.

Now that everything seems to be in hand and Lucy doesn't require my undivided attention, I can actually begin a kitten diary for her darling children.
