Day 55 - September 1, 2007

There are no entries today in any of our kitten diaries. It's been a long 24 hours as one of our ladies went into labour. The labour lasted from 9pm last night until just after 9am this morning and we also had one of our older babies, Ice Maiden leaving home today. Entries should resume as per normal tomorrow.

Message for Diana: If you are reading today's entries, can you please call me ASAP on my mobile?

Day 54 - August 31, 2007

Entries are quite short today sorry, quite short with no photos, because our beautiful, but naughty, Canberra left us early this afternoon so it has been quite a busy day. I also seem to be getting the flu so I'm not particularly motivated to write entries to be honest with you. Also, one of our other ladies is due to go into labour today so my time has been divided between running up and downstairs to our bedroom to be with her.

Our Detectives really are doing quite well, it's lovely. They have been such a very difficult litter, and Morse is now exactly like everyone else, he is growing very well indeed and I would not be surprised at all if he were a real handful when he matures. Miss Marple is trouble, she really is such trouble. Today I was walking into the kitten room, she sprang out of absolutely nowhere, straight towards my legs, giving me such a fright. She does this to me all the time and I swear she laughs every time. I have a very good registered name lined up for her :) Nancy Drew is not unlike her sister, however, Nancy has a soft spot in that while she will try and cause trouble, she is more interested in cuddles than anything else. Little Sherlock is exactly that................little, bless him. He really is such a very sweet baby but he has such an incredibly long way to go before he catches up with the rest of his family. He is trying to very hard though and I am hoping and praying he will get there in the end. At the moment we do not actually have a home for him because I am loathe to accept any possible new family for Sherlock until I am 200% convinced that he is actually okay and nothing is wrong with him. Time will tell though I guess. He has gotten bigger in the past few weeks and if he continues along these lines, then maybe all will be well.

Day 53 - August 30, 2007

Again today, they are not the longest of kitten diaries as I have one baby leaving home tomorrow and another on Saturday which means I really should get some paperwork done or their new families will not be very impressed :)

Poor Nancy Drew missed out on today's photo session, mainly because I was aiming to actually get some photos of the babies while they were playing because our last few sets of photos are generally of the babies relaxing. Whilst I was taking the photos, Nancy Drew was actually out in the hallway in the bunk beds, trying to have a bit of a snooze while everyone else was creating havoc. She had initially been playing with the rest of the gang, but when Miss Marple bit her on the tail, she decided enough was enough and ran out of the room. Can't say I blame her really :) I do love to watch the babies play though and at this age, they really are such active little children.

Day 52 - August 29, 2007
Today, just for a change, all of our Detectives, barring Miss Marple have been extremely well behaved. They have of course been creating havoc in that way that only babies can, however, they have not been overly naughty, nor did they attempt to get under my feet when I doing the cleaning this morning. Miss Marple on the other hand, has been in fine form all day. She is back to her toe biting games and I am just pleased I've been wearing socks today because she really does appear to spring out of nowhere the moment she sees a pair of feet, and next thing you know she is chomping away on your toes. At this age, it can be an endearing habit but it is certainly not one I wish to encourage as I'm sure her new kitten family will not appreciate it when she is a full grown adult :) I love today's photo of our little Sherlock because I swear that he is most definitely smiling in that photo and he has such an impish look about him which I think is really adorable..

Day 51 - August 28, 2007

They are not the longest of entries today as our darling Liquorice left us to go and live with Linz and Lulu, so my morning was spent doing paperwork etc. but I did manage a couple of photos at least.

Our Detectives have become quite feisty little children during the past few days and they actually spend even more time wrestling than the Nuts do! It is Cashew's fault though as he loves wrestling and he taught our Detectives what a great game is it and I swear, that no one is safe at all. Miss Marple was in fine form last night as we had our friends visiting and whilst we were up in the kitten room, Miss Marple decided it would be a good time to show the world exactly how clever she is when it comes to toe biting and poor Caryll was the victim. She was innocently sitting there having cuddles with Pecan and next thing you hear is a cry of pain escaping Caryll's lips. Sure enough Miss Marple chomping on Caryll's toes. One thing I must say about Ashanti is that he is producing babies with such tremendous personalities. All of his children to date are very outgoing, very much "in your face", and incredibly naughty. That's all well and good when they are this age but goodness only knows what their new families will think of them if they continue to be mischievous once they leave us.

Day 50 - August 27, 2007

Unfortunately, there are still no photos for today's entry, not even for our newest babies. I had the best intentions in the world but sometimes, days just do now pan out exactly how we want them to. It's actually nothing short of a miracle that I have managed to get a few sentences in each kitten diary today.

The Detectives are in seventh heaven now that their kitten room door is open all day long, but they are just as equally fascinated with their bunk beds that now reside in the room. It's so funny because when it is nap time, you can see the babies staring at the bunk beds, then at the scratch post, wondering exactly where the best place to sleep would be. A couple of them couldn't quite reach to get into the bottom bunk so I put a little hooded bed underneath it that they can use as a little step up into the bed and they really are just delighted. Like the Nuts, none of the Detectives have come down the stairs yet, but I'm not really in any rush for them to do so. They aren't sure what to make of our older babies, all of whom had a total shock to discover that they weren't they only precious little children in the home, but despite a bit of hissing from the older ones, our Detectives took it all in their stride and carried on exploring.

Day 49 - August 26, 2007
As you will noticed, we have skipped a few day's entries. The reason for this is that on Friday, I was extremely busy and then on Saturday I was in Bristol at a cat show with Ashanti and Cacao, both of whom did extremely well. One of our older babies, Snow Queen, was due to leave us at 9am on Sunday morning, and then the biggest shock of all was getting a phone call from Graham during the afternoon of the show to tell me Amaretto had gone into labour. So between the cat show, the birth, and our baby leaving us, I have not had a spare second to get diary entries online. I am desperately hoping that the kitten diaries can resume as per normal tomorrow.
