Day 46 - August 23, 2007
There are no kitten diaries for today because we left the house at about 11:30am and didn't arrive back home until about 5pm so all the babies were fed just before we left, and then again as soon as we came home but obviously they all have countless bowls of kitten biscuits in their rooms. None of the babies appeared to have destroyed anything in our absence which was a relief :)

Day 45 - August 22, 2007
All is going well with our Detectives at the moment, even Sherlock is holding his own, although obviously he is still smaller than the rest of his litter mates at this stage of his life. He continues to feed from Toussaint, and we have had a few "hairy" moments between Toussaint and Tia Lusso and I'm really not sure who exactly is to blame. Each of our babies have very good appetites and when they are not sleeping, they are all incredibly active and zooming around the room. Last night, for a short period of time, I did leave the door to their room open while I was upstairs and doing the litter trays, and it didn't take long at all for our Detectives to all go wandering out of the room, all apart from Miss Marple who was sound asleep underneath one of the posh boxes. Of course I did regret that decision about 20 minutes later when I was playing "Hunt the Kitten" and was trying to get the right litters back in their respective areas. I had been hoping to get some "action" shots today of our babies playing but after trying that for 5 minutes and get nothing but a load of blurs, I figured it would be more time saving to again just take a couple of individual photos.

Day 44 - August 21, 2007

Many apologies as there are no photos today because I've just not had any time at all sorry and even though it's only half way through the day, I still have an awful lot to get through this afternoon.

Morse is determined that one way or another, he is not supposed to be in the kitten room and he is supposed to be running around with our older babies and having fun. I have lost count of the times today I have gone upstairs, opened their door to go in, and he has bolted straight out the door, onto the upstairs landing and then gone into the 2nd kitten room where some of our older babies are. Bless him, he is such a tiny little soul, however, he is not phased by any of the much larger babies, nor is he bothered when the other mum's, Drambuie in particularly, thoroughly check him out. In actual fact, all 4 of our Detectives are extremely confident young babies and they are very determined when it comes to getting exactly what they want. I do think that when the time comes and they do eventually leave us for their new families, they are going to slot into their new homes very well. This has been a difficult entry to type because I have to keep stopping every 2 minutes due to a certain Bengal lady is is demanding my attention, so much so that if I don't stroke her, she nips me on my arm to make sure that she gets the ear rubs she is seeking.

Day 43 - August 20, 2007
Today's photo session was hell! There was only one fur child who was prepared to look beautiful for the camera (although the others are definitely beautiful!) and that was Miss Marple. This, of course, surprised me as she is one of our more naughty children, yet she sat there like a little angel, trying desperately hard to look all grown up and regal so she could show her possible new mummies how adorable she is. I honestly thought that Morse and Sherlock would be well behaved but oh no, Sherlock was horrendous as you can see by the image of him with his mouth open. At that point he was screaming at me to take him off the top of the posh box and put him back with everyone else <sigh>. Morse, well, it wasn't that he was actually averse to having his photo taken, he was just more interested in trying to figure out exactly where he was and where he could go from there. Nancy Drew, who is equally as naughty as Miss Marple, was of the same opinion as her brother in that she was put on the top of the box to explore, not to look photogenic. I was actually quite relieved when their photo session was over and let me assure you that I muttered a few choice words during at our darling little monsters :)

Day 42 - August 19, 2007

I didn't get any diary entries online yesterday as I had a bit of a "lazy" day and then today I didn't get a chance to do any photos because by the time I'd finished all the floors, it was time to do the tropical aquarium. We set aside 2 days every month for the fish tank and it's on these days that the water is removed, replaced, the filters replaced, the pump pulled apart and cleaned out etc. etc. and as you can probably imagine, this is quite a large job so by the time that was finished, there was barely enough time to get entries online, let alone photos. I'm hoping to make up for this tomorrow with individual photos of our babies.

Toussaint has well and truly adopted Sherlock as her own now and I think even Sherlock has forgotten that she is not his mum, bless him. Of course, Tia Lusso has not forgotten and I often see her just sitting on the floor, watching Sherlock feed from Toussaint, and the whole time, she fixes that vivid blue, unwavering gaze, on Toussaint. If anything, she should actually be grateful that Toussaint is mothering the Detectives, as well as the Nuts, because it does give Lucy a break which she definitely needs having raised her own, and Amarula's babies. I'm afraid to say that the 6 week mark has totally crept up on me and I did get a bit of shock when I sat down to do diary entries today. I guess, for 6 weeks of age, our Detectives are all actually doing quite well. They are certainly holding their own and little Morse has come along in leaps and bounds. He is starting to become a bit of a naughty Black though in that he is now following the Nuts' lead and he presumes if I am opening the kitten room door then it means he is allowed to try and run out of it. I actually feel that I can relax about Morse now, he is just doing so incredibly well and there is no longer any need to watch him like hawk. It's nice to be able to just enter the kitten room and not have to look at him to see what he is doing, or to weigh him for fear of him having lost weight. Sherlock on the other hand, is still giving me cause for concern and it's going to be a heck of a long time yet before I can relax about him but he does still continue to eat and play, and feed from the mum's. He is using the litter trays without any problems at all, so I am hoping and praying he is just a slow developer. This then brings me to our naughty Siamese girlies, Miss Marple and Nancy Drew. Such very, very, mischievous and loving children. Both girls are definitely going to be trouble when they mature. But even at their naughtiest, you can't help but pick them up for cuddles because they just look at you with their expressive blue eyes, and hey presto, they become totally irresistible.
