Day 76 - September 22, 2007
The kitten diaries for the Nuts, the Detectives, and the Water baby are all the same today as it is regarding vaccinations and this concerns all of our kitten families. Originally we had decided we would vaccinate each litter individually when they came of age i.e. 9 weeks old, however, with me being so incredibly busy with Heston and the 2 hourly feeds, vaccines have not really been a priority. Tomorrow, Thames will be 9 weeks old and normally, first kitten vaccinations are done when the babies reach 9 weeks. As all 3 litters are now of an age to be done, then we will be booking the 3 litters in for their first set of vaccinations this coming week. This does mean that the earliest any of these babies can leave home is October 25. None of them can leave any earlier than this. The one bonus to having them all done at the same time is that we won't have to worry about any of the babies who have been done, shedding the virus, and causing mild infection for any unvaccinated kittens. It does also mean that Sherlock has had that little bit of extra time to develop although I don't know at this stage whether or not Jo will feel he is big enough to vaccinate, but we will take him along as well and just see what happens on the day. I do know that some of our kitten families like to ensure they book holidays at the same time their babies come home so that they can have a settling in/bonding time together, which is why I wanted to make a point of putting the date in the diary so that all families are aware of it.

Day 75 - September 21, 2007

There are no photos today sorry due to lack of time.

Today was supposed to be Miss Marple's special day as her new mum, Sarah, came to visit her. It was fantastic to see Sarah again, and to meet Graham who I think is a very brave man to be taking on Sarah and her fur family, one of which is Sukhothai (aka Desert Orchid) from our "Racers" litter. Miss Marple, and the majority of the other babies were far more interested in sleeping than anything else and even though Sarah did manage to have a cuddle with her baby, it was rather short lived. The only kittens who were not interested in sleeping was Pistachio who was in fine form as per usual, Macadamia who thought it great fun to see just what Graham's fingers tasted like, and Cashew was busy trying to create havoc as well. It was unfortunate I guess that prior to Sarah and Graham arriving, the Detectives had been playing chase/wrestle, throughout the home most of the morning so they were all rather tired. Whenever Sarah visits I think we could happily just spend hours on end talking about cats and kittens we really are delighted that Miss Marple will be sharing her home with Sarah and the rest of her fur children. Of course as Miss Marple was so well behaved today I am sure Sarah doesn't believe me when I told her previously in an email just how naughty Miss Marple can be. Toussaint decided that Graham would definitely make a very good cat dad and showed her approval by jumping up onto his shoulders to groom his hair and Graham was extremely good natured about the fact that Toussaint was digging her back claws into his back while she gave him a new hairdo. Every home needs a "Toussaint" :)

Day 74 - September 20, 2007
Today's entries are really photos only because as mentioned yesterday 2 of our babies left us today, and time has really gotten away from me this afternoon. Possibly tomorrow we will be back to normal, who knows :)

Day 73 - September 19, 2007
Yet again I'm afraid there are no entries for today. I have an awful flu and am having a really off day. We also have 2 babies leaving us tomorrow, so in between sneezing and cleaning, I have had mountains of paperwork to get through.

Day 72 - September 18, 2007

I'm afraid that today's photos are all "sleepy" photos as I made the mistake of going up to the kitten room to take photos of the babies when they were sleeping and none of them were keen to wake up and smile for the camera. I will try and do a better job tomorrow :)

Tia Lusso is driving us barmy at the moment as she is in full call again. Today is Day 2 of her call and she is screaming the house down, day and night, and naturally, Ashanti is screaming back to her. Believe me when I say it's not pleasant to be in our home at the moment. My mate Jill phoned me earlier today and made comment on the "noise" she could hear in the background while we were talking. It really is deafening, and it's also annoying Toussaint and all of the babies who are sick and tired of listening to her. Also, in typical Lucy fashion, when she's calling, she is spraying <sigh>. Nancy Drew made me laugh today because I was sitting here sorting out the diary photos and I heard this very low, rather ferocious growling and I knew some of the babies were downstairs and presumed they had annoyed one of the adults who was telling them off. You can imagine my surprise when I turned around and saw that it was Nancy Drew doing the growling. The reason for this is that she had found "Monkey". I won't bore you all with the story of Monkey but will simply say he is a beanie toy that the adults and babies love. Anyway, Nancy Drew hadn't seen Monkey before today and as soon as she saw him she fell in love with him. Picked him up in her mouth, and whenever any of the other babies approached her, she glared at them, and started growling, just daring them to try and take Monkey from her. Our adults cats just sighed and looked at her as if to say, "Another one!", while the other babies thought better of approaching Nancy Drew and left her to play on her own with Monkey.

Day 71 - September 17, 2007

We would like to begin this diary entry by congratulating Caryll and ray on Kyla's great results at her show on the 15th. There are no photos for today's entries but I am still trying to catch up after having such a very busy weekend. Tomorrow's entries will be back to normal with photographs.

Going back now to Saturday...................Morse had a very special day on Saturday because his wonderful mum, Bev, came to visit. We hadn't seen Bev since she came here to collect Shergar which was quite a few months ago. Bev is such a lovely, lovely lady and we know that Morse will have a fantastic home with Bev. This was actually the first time Bev had met Morse and in typical stubborn Black mode, Morse was having none of it. He didn't care that his new mum had come to see him, he was having none of it. Eventually, Bev did get some cuddles with her new baby, she also got some photographs of him which turned out much better than any I have managed to take so far! Our Detectives are all doing quite well and at 10 weeks of age, the time really has come to have them vaccinated so at some point this week, I will have to arrange to take them, and the Nuts, into our vets for their first set of kitten jabs.
