Day 47 - October 17, 2007
Unfortunately there are still no photos today and all kitten diaries are exactly the same. I did originally have plans to do the diaries as per normal today however at approximately 1730 yesterday, one of our ladies went into labour. It was a long labour that didn't finish until around 0200 this morning which meant I have had very little sleep and have spent all of today doing the normal chores, taking care of all the children, and closely monitoring the newborns. It's now 1638 and I still have at least 10 loads of washing to sort through, as well as trying desperate hard to make arrangements to collect the newest fur addition to the Schimmel home. Tomorrow is going to be an absolute nightmare so please do not worry if there are no entries online tomorrow. The babies are all doing well however.

Day 46 - October 16, 2007

You will have all noticed I have missed a couple of days' entries in the kitten diaries and rather than go into any long drawn out stories about recent "disasters" (not cat related), I will simply say that this week, and next week, are going to be horrendous. As it stands at the moment, I will endeavour to get the kitten diaries online as per normal but would say not to be surprised if we miss days here and there. Today's entries are very brief text only entries but one way or another, I will be taking photos tomorrow.

Our Chefs are all doing extremely well and I was so pleased to hear Caryll say today how well Heston is doing and just how much bigger she has grown. It's been a few weeks since Caryll last saw her so now I know it's definitely not just me being optimistic and that Heston is indeed growing and progressing well. All 6 of our Chefs can be feisty little children but still, the best behaved baby out of them all is Jamie. Gordon will pick on anyone and everyone, regardless of their size, and today he was playing so rough with Ray that he actually made her squeal. Of course he is such a large boy in comparison with his siblings yet all of them are more than capable of holding their own against the Ray J's when it comes to kitten wrestling matches.

Day 43 - October 13, 2007

There will be no kitten diaries at all for tomorrow but they will resume as per normal on Monday. It's already gone 1600 and I am so behind today, mainly because for some daft reason I ended up taking way too many photos of the Ray J's and the Chefs and as a result, it has taken me in excess of 3 hours to sort through all the photos. as a result, diary entries are going to be short and sweet.

I looked at Heston this morning and thought that she is actually growing. For a while, even though she was putting on weight, she never actually looked any bigger but today, the change is apparent. I watched her eating and running around playing and she really is starting to pick up now and I am just delighted. You might not be able to tell by the photos but it's as if she has suddenly turned into a proper little kitten as opposed to being a baby. As you know I have been very worried about our little Heston, right from birth, but I do believe the time has now come to stop worrying about her and let her get on as she is just fine. All of our Chefs are doing extremely well and they are definitely little trouble makers, all apart from Jamie because each time I am in the kitten room, she is either "playing nicely" or snuggled up to the mum's. Wouldn't it be nice to have bred a "good" baby for a change, particularly as she will be living here forever :)

Day 42 - October 12, 2007
None of our Chefs have come downstairs today although James was downstairs again last night. Instead, they have been creating havoc upstairs in the kitten room, as well as in the bathroom. I did try to take photos of them playing but they really are just too quick for me so I waited until they were all crashed out. Now that they are getting a bit older, they no longer feel the need to sleep in one huge group and when it's nap time, they quite often just curl up exactly where they were playing and just snooze for a while. It's hard to believe they are 6 weeks old already and the first 6 weeks have totally flown by.
