Day 18 - February 22, 2008
You may have gathered by now that I have had to keep the ramp down on Sambuca's posh box. There is just no way on earth they can be contained any longer. As far as they are concerned, they are no longer little babies and they have as much right to wander around the room as the other babies do. I have given up trying to stop them and have come to the conclusion that if they feel they can cope with the demands of an entire room, as well as the boisterous games of the older children, then who am I to stop them? They do look so funny when they are running around the room because for such young babies, both of them move quite fast and co-ordination is not fantastic at such a young age so they are both prone to sometimes run into things (like other babies), or run through the tray of food.

Day 17 - February 21, 2008

There are no photos today sorry because I had a kitten family visit us today and our next few days are incredibly busy with quite a lot going on, including more kitten families visiting but I am going to endeavour to get at least a short entry and a few photos online each day.

Our Hotels think they are "big kids" now in the respect that they watch all the older babies and are convinced that they also should be running around the room and exploring everything. I do have my work cut out for me just to try and contain them in their posh box because they are now starting to scramble up over the top of the opening. This is fine if I am in the room but if I'm not in the room, I can't guarantee that one of the mum's will pick them up and put them back in their own box. Mind you, I am spending such a lot of time in the kitten room anyway that it's not going to be a huge problem. I do often find that when younger babies are in with older babies they tend to be a bit more advanced that they normally would be for that age.

Day 16 - February 20, 2008
I must apologise for the photos today in the Hotels' kitten diary because how I managed to only end up with 3 photos is quite beyond me. The biggest problem I think is that as the babies are all mixed in together between the 2 posh boxes I tend to forget which babies I have taken photos of and which ones I haven't. Still, I guess 3 photos are better than none at all. Both Ritz and Claridge's seem to be really happy about having new playmates in their posh box, even though those same playmates tend to change quite a bit. Sambuca and Lucy are also quite happy to be sharing the same box and they are often joined by Nocello as well who can't make up her mind as to which box she wants to be in.

Day 15 - February 19, 2008

All entries start off the same today..........................None of the mum's know who owns which baby any more and it is total and utter bedlam in the kitten room. This morning, I did away with the kitten pen and whilst there are still 3 posh boxes set up in the kitten room, the mothers and babies are choosing to use 2 of them only. Of the 3 boxes still set up, only 2 are being used and as for which baby is in which box at any given time is anyone's guess. Lucy is sharing Sambuca's box, but with other babies, whilst Cointreau, Nocello and Amaretto are still sharing their large box, with their babies and others. The biggest problem is that I have to keep a very close eye on Sami's children. They are only 15 days old and I can NOT let them be out of the box exploring or walking around as it is way too early for this to happen and we already had one little incident with Ritz this morning!

With all the confusion in the kitten room at the moment, when I was upstairs doing my 2nd visit of the day, I one of the Airports in Sambuca's and Lucy's box, as well as one of the Archangels, but what was worrying was that Ritz was not in there!. I looked around the room, standing very still as the babies were clambering around my feet, and spotted 3 Oriental Black Torties, all in different parts of the room. I then picked up the girl who looked to be the smallest (am beginning to think I need glasses!) and put her in with Sambuca. Came downstairs, thinking the whole time, came into the back room, and said "Oh Shit", I've just given Sami the wrong baby. I flew back upstairs, took the Black Tortie out of Sami's box although by this time Sambuca was already feeding and grooming her, scooped up the other 2 Black Torties, and knew straight away that I had actually given La Guardia to Sambuca whilst poor little Ritz was ambling along the floor looking rather confused bless her. I obviously returned Ritz straight back to her mother and have been keeping a very watchful eye ever since.

Day 14 - February 18, 2008

At 2 weeks of age I am extremely pleased with our Hotels' progress. Both babies are an absolute delight, they are not causing me any problems at all and they are both thriving. You may be able to tell by the rather awful photos below, that Ritz is going to be quite a big girl and even at this very young age she has outstanding Tortie colouring. Both she, and Claridge's are both very curious little babies who are becoming quite interested in what is going on outside of the posh box now. Fortunately, neither baby is big enough to be able to climb out thank goodness.

Sambuca is a doting mummy and rarely leaves the posh box other than to eat, drink, or use the litter tray. I did have to laugh this morning when Amaretto walked over to Sami's box, looked in, went back and picked up Heathrow, and then carried him to Sami's box, stuck her head through the opening and plonked Heathrow in with the Hotels. Sami wasn't bothered at all and automatically started grooming Heathrow while Amaretto wandered off again. Of course I did take Heathrow back out as he really does belong with his 2 siblings.
