Kitten Diaries
Sambuca
September 2005
Sambuca's 2nd Kitten Diary - September 2005 - December 2005
Sambuca November 10, 2005 - Day 62
Both Berries have been a tremendous help to me today...............not! I have spent all morning preparing all the paperwork for the Dancers who are in the throes of leaving me and both Berries thought I was looking stressed and could do with their help. By the time I finished the paperwork I was mores stressed than when I started. Both girls insisted on rolling about on all the paperwork, chewing on the corners or it, and they had a tremendous fascination with the laminating machine, so much so, as the pedigrees passed through one end of it, they were on top of the machine, heads down, trying to catch the certificates as they came out at the other end. I had to re-do two of the certificates because they managed to leave the odd white of black hair on the paper which I didn't notice prior to laminating it. I must admit though that both girls are a wonderful stress relief because just one cuddle and purr from them always makes me smile. On Monday of next week, the Berries will be off to see the vet for their first set of vaccinations and then from Monday onwards, the door to the back room will be left open permanently during the day and they will have full run of the house. Of an evening, they will be still be sleeping in the back room though.

Sambuca November 9, 2005 - Day 61
Today we were actually in and out for most of the day which is why I didn't have the chance to get an entry online. It is so incredibly hectic here at the moment due to the fact that 4 of our Dancers are leaving us within the next 48 hours. The entries should resume as per normal tomorrow.

Sambuca November 8, 2005 - Day 60
Every time I make a start on this entry I have been interrupted by either the doorbell or the telephone. I've actually had the page open on my system since 10am and am getting absolutely nowhere. Both Berries have kept themselves amused most of the day by playing out in the cat run and annoying their mum, who is already not in the best of moods due to being in full call and being extremely hormonal. I told Loganberry that it would not be a good day to upset her mum but she wouldn't listen and just couldn't resist smacking her mum in the head when she walked by the bed. I think at the moment the worst habit the Berries have is running into the kitchen whenever we open the kitchen door. They know they are not allowed in there so naturally to them, it's a wonderful game to see whether or not they are quick enough to sneak in through the door when we humans open it. Of course, as they move so super fast, they always get into the kitchen and then we have fun and games trying to catch them and put them back out.

Sambuca November 7, 2005 - Day 59
Apologies for the rather short entries with no photos but I've been rather busy today trying to sort out some things. Sambuca is still screaming her head off relentlessly and in turn, Sheridans is screaming back at her from his stud house (not that he would know what to do anyway!). I'm hoping that she will come off call soon and things will be a bit more peaceful here. Loganberry & Blackberry have both spent quite a lot of time in the cat run again and they don't seem to care that it's rather cold today. They still go out there and run around, chasing each other like lunatics. Loganberry has decided to become an Olympic diver because this morning she took a flying leap off one of the cat tubs, straight into the water bowl and managed to soak all 4 legs. Blackberry, not wanting to miss out on doing something spectacular has decided that she should get some practice in before she auditions for the next role of Spiderman so she started climbing the wire frame of the cat run, got halfway up, and then realised that she had no idea how to get down and had to be rescued.

Sambuca November 6, 2005 - Day 58
It's almost impossible to get any form of Berries diary done as both Berries have been in very feisty moods this morning, as you can see by the photos below and as I'm trying to type this, they are currently on my lap wrestling with each other. If that isn't bad enough, Sambuca is still in full call and has spent the whole day screaming her head off and rubbing herself all over my desk and pc. Needless to say, I now have a headache and am about to finish this diary entry here and now.

Sambuca November 5, 2005 - Day 57
Unfortunately today's photos are not great, what few there is of them, but I do love the ones of Sambuca cuddling her up with her miniature self (as I call Blackberry). Despite the fact that it's quite cool today, both Berries, and their mum have spent a lot of time out in the cat run today which did surprise me. Last night the Berries proved that the fireworks display that was going on next door <groan> did not phase them in the slightest. The loud noises and the explosions didn't worry about Berries, they didn't run and hide and they just carried on playing their games and trying to destroy the back room. I was really pleased at their reaction. I do so hate this time of year and the dreaded firework displays!

Sambuca November 4, 2005 - Day 56 - 8 weeks old today!
Our Berries are 8 weeks old now and growing up rapidly. They are so energetic and so large and get a bit more mischievous each day. Loganberry made a total, utter fool of herself this morning which annoyed her mum. I had just come in from doing the litter trays in the stud houses, sat the massive rubbish bag on top of the air cooler unit, went into the kitchen and when I came back into the room it was to discover Loganberry had jumped up on the unit, managed to find the opening in the rubbish bag (that contained the litter from the boy's houses), she jumped in, got a bit of a scare and knocked the whole darn lot off the unit and onto the floor, where she promptly proceeded to panic as she was still in the bag! I couldn't help laughing at her as I rescued her (I seem to spend half my life rescuing Loganberry) and she was rather relieved to be out of the bag and see daylight again. Both Berries have been having the time of their lives out in the cat run today, playing stalking games and chase games and they have really been enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.
