Kitten Diaries
Sambuca
September 2005
Sambuca's 2nd Kitten Diary - September 2005 - December 2005
Sambuca October 27, 2005 - Day 48
Again all entries are the same for today as I seem to be up to my eyeballs in paperwork and babies right now. I can't remember ever being this busy with babies but I guess it's the first time that we've had babies of varying ages in the house. I'm looking forward to the weekend when hopefully things will calm down quite a bit and I can get the entries back to normal!

Sambuca October 26, 2005 - Day 47
I truly despair of Loganberry sometimes and for the past 24 hours she has been so rude to her mum and so very naughty. I've lost count of the times I have seen Sambuca disciplining her but it's all to no avail unfortunately as Loganberry is extremely stubborn and won't listen to what her mum is telling her. Thank goodness Blackberry is so much better behaved because if they were both like Loganberry I'd never get anything done! It's just as well I took photos late yesterday afternoon because it's so chaotic in our house today that I would not have been able to take any. Also, the Berries are having a little holiday in mum and dad's bedroom because we are having some work done in the house which means the other cats and babies have to be in the downstairs part of the house and this meant that the Berries had to be moved. They still have not had any contact at all with our older cats or our other babies however I think from Monday onwards, the house will be opened up again and they can start to get to know the rest of the family.

Sambuca October 25, 2005 - Day 46

Due to the fact that mummy is busy doing paperwork today she's hasn't had the time to write out our diaries today, so we decided to do it ourselves and got our daddy to write it up for us. The problem is that we can't speak and he can't spell so this could be interesting!!.

Well i am just about going stir crazy in this room now, my sister Blackberry is being her normal self, obeying mummy's commands, eating on time, sucking up to the humans in the house etc etc. , me, I want adventure, I found this great hiding place yesterday in the radiator bed, where I could squeeze in and just poke my little head out, I mean, "ok, so no one else wanted to play" but hey it was fun. Then later I got a bit caught up and couldn't find my way out properly caused me a bit of stress but it was cool, I could handle it. After all I am a big girl......but ohhh no...instead along comes room service to takes my bed away !!!!. I mean how cruel is that. Now i have to find somethng else to play with. I keep seeing some big black fluffy thing walking past and then going out into the garden, not quite sure what it is yet, but I fancy my chances of jumping on the back of it and taking a trip out into the world.

Anyway better go, mummy's doing that washing thing again....blimley can a girl get no peace these days or what?

October 24, 2005 - Day 45
It always amazes me that 2 babies from the same litter can have such different personalities and Loganberry and Blackberry are no exception to the rule. For instance, Blackberry loves her food, loves to play and simply adores cuddles and human attention whereas Loganberry wants to do nothing with her life other than play and get into mischief! Whenever I feed the babies, Blackberry comes running over to the plate, along with her mum, whereas Loganberry has a look at the plate and then runs off to create yet more mischief and only venture back over to eat when it suddenly occurs to her that she might be missing out on something. Our radiator bed which used to have a small hole in it, now has an even bigger one due to the fact that Loganberry stuffed her fat body in there and then proceeded to get stuck and had to be rescued. Blackberry, I swear, sat on the floor, looking up at her, and was laughing at the predicament that her sister was in.
October 23, 2005 - Day 44
There really are no entries for today and again it's the same for each diary. I've spent most of the day trying to catch up on everything that I didn't get done yesterday because I was out. So I am just going to say that all babies are doing really very well, creating havoc and mess as per usual and are simply being typical kittens.

October 22, 2005 - Day 43
If you've read one diary entry today, you have read them all because all 3 entries are the same without any photos I'm afraid. The reason for this is that we've been out for most of the day, having a day off really which we don't get to do that often. Despite me asking them all to behave themselves and despite the fact that I sat them down and said: "Now that you are grown up kitties, you need to accept some responsibility and because I trust you, we are all going out for the day and will leave you to your own devices. Now I know that you won't invite your furry friends over for parties, and I know that you will make sure you still have your naps in the afternoon and I know that you won't make any long phone calls or leave the house and go out with your mates." They all looked at me, ears cocked, listening intently and when I had finished Twix, who is the spokesman for the Chocolate Bars and Dancers said: "It's okay mum, you can trust us and when you get back home you will be so impressed at how responsible we have been that you will feel happier about having another day off". Cacao, who is the Matriarch of the family glared at me and said: "You are having a laugh! These babies are too young for responsibility but as you insist on having a day off, then on your head be it!". It would appear that Cacao was right, as always, because upon our return, the upstairs hallway and bathroom looked as if a hurricane had torn through there. The bedding was not where it should be, there was food and litter scattered everywhere, paw prints on the bath, toilet and hand basin, to say nothing of the toys strewn from the downstairs entrance all the way to the bathroom. I think it's safe to say that today was my only day off until the babies leave! I'm afraid that the situation was no different for our Berries either, however, I didn't bother giving them the "responsible teenager" speech as they are still too young to do much damage (and I don't think they have any friends anyway) but I did warn their mother that she was going to have to keep them under control and that she would have to ensure they ate plenty of their dry JW kitten biscuits. Now I am presuming that she did this because the the bowl was quite a bit emptier upon our return and their was kitten biscuits all over the floor!

October 21, 2005 - Day 42 - 6 weeks old today!
As you can see I have marked our Berries 6 week old stage by going completely overboard with photos! I obviously have too much time on my hands. Sambuca also decided to mark this stage as well by coming into call which is something I could have done without. Our Berries have now discovered how to play "Football", at least Blackberry has whereas Loganberry has other ideas! For those who don't know, Football is when the babies play with a piece of paper that has been screwed up into a ball. I hadn't introduced the Berries to this game yet as I was waiting until they came downstairs and as soon as I batted the ball to Blackberry, her ears were twitching, she became fully alert, and within about 10 seconds flat, she caught onto the game and knew exactly what to do. She was having the time of her life batting and kicking the ball around the floor and she is super fast! Loganberry on the other hand, thought that this was a totally different game. I have no idea why, but in her mind, the game goes like this. While her sister bats the ball around at incredibly high speeds, Loganberry has to jump as high as she possibly can and leap over her sister back and forth whilst trying not to land on her sisters' head. It is the first time I have ever seen a baby do this. Normally, you give them the screwed up paper balls and they chase them around for hours, but not Loganberry, she has actually invented an entirely new game. If I were Jason and Mandi, I would be stocking up on lots of notepads now because at the rate Blackberry is losing/destroying the balls, plenty of notepads need to be available for more balls to be made.
