April 2005
Day 76 - June 19, 2005
The Planets and the Musketeers entries are both the same for today and there are no photos sorry. As it was Fathers Day, we did make a "family day" of it and did very little in the way of working on the computers. We also went to see Batman in the afternoon which was really brilliant and well worth watching. So I really didn't have the time to do an entry yesterday but I am hoping that tomorrow's entry will be back to normal.

Day 75 - June 18, 2005
Well I'm not having the best of days personally as I have the toothache from hell so I'm not a very happy bunny at all. However, the Planets on the other hand are having a lovely day, playing lots, enjoying the cat run, scaring the heck out of each other with their pouncing. One thing I will say about this litter in particular is how amazed I am at the size difference between the babies. At one end of the scale, we have Saturn and Jupiter who are typical babies for their age, whereas at the other end, we have Venus and Neptune, both of whom are incredibly petite and almost fragile looking. Prior to the Planet's birth, I was intrigued as to what the sizes would be like because Ice, in the past, has thrown some very large babies, yet Sambuca, like her mother, and her grandmother (Tia at Chinasea Siamese & Orientals), has the typical, svelte, Oriental figure. I must admit though that there are time when I look at the Planets and think there is now way they are even from the same litter. Jupiter made a bit of a fool of herself this morning and she was sitting on the other chair, along with Neptune & Mars and she thought she would be clever and jump from her chair to my lap, except of course that the gap was too wide and she missed by about an inch and ended up on the floor, looking slightly embarrassed. Naturally I picked her up and put her on my lap and gave her lots of cuddles :)

Day 74 - June 17, 2005
I'm feeling rather pleased with myself today and I'm sure Michelle would be pleased because at long last I've been able to get Saturn to face the camera, so at least we now know that he really does have a face :) This was no easy task though, let me assure you. All of our Planets have had a good morning so far, they have spent time out in the cat run tearing about like lunatics, and as per usual, the whole house has been opened up so they have the run of the upstairs, downstairs, wherever they want to go really. Mind you, now that I'm writing this diary entry, 4 of the Planets are all sound asleep on the other office chair so they have worn themselves out with this morning's antics.

Day 73 - June 16, 2005
Everyone was rather happy to see that there had been no parties in the back room overnight, unlike last night! Saturn got a bit of a fright yesterday afternoon because all of the babies were out in the cat run and our adults and 2 older kittens were roaming around and he thought he would play "pounce" with Drambuie. Unfortunately, Buie, who is normally a loving girl with the typical Oriental Tortie temperament was feeling rather hormonal as she's recently had her first honeymoon and is possibly pregnant, turned around and belted him one. This scared him so he came tearing inside with the other Planets & Musketeers on his heels. Sambuca came tearing out of the lounge room where she had been resting as soon as she heard her babies frightened cries and ran straight over to Drambuie and in turn, bopped Drambuie on the head. I then told Buie to leave the babies alone and she went back out into the cat run to sulk. It took me a good 3 minutes of soothing talking and gentle stroking to reassure everyone that it was all okay and they could resume their games.I do sometimes wish I had 2 houses, one for my hormonal pregnant girls, and one for my babies, mums and non pregnant girls <sigh>. Still, this is all part of the babies' learning process where they learn when to flee to safety, and when to stand their ground and it's much better that they learn this here with our own adult cats whom we can trust, prior to going to their new homes. Situtations like this are always very important to us because we need to make sure that the right babies are homed with the right owners and if for whatever reason, one kitten simply was not happy sharing his/her life with adult cats, then that baby would need a home where he/she was the only cat, or where he/she was homed with one of his brothers or sisters. I do apologise for the lack of photos today sorry but when I was trying to take some, while the Musketeers were awake, the Planets were all sound asleep and I feel sorry particularly for Michelle, Saturn's new owner as all the photos of Saturn appear to be of his bum and not his face so tomorrow I will be making a concerted effort to make him face the camera :)

Day 72 - June 15, 2005
As I will be in and out a bit today I'm putting the diary entry online early. The babies must have all had quite a party last night and I'm pleased that Graham was up first and not me because when he came downstairs he couldn't quite believe the mess in the back room. There were newspapers scattered all over the floor. Dry food scattered everywhere and, to make matters worse, someone had knocked down the Chinchilla's sand bath which, quite naturally, was full of sand which was scattered from one end of the room to the other. Fortunately, by the time I came downstairs at 7:20am everything had already been cleaned up by Graham :) I took quite a few photos of the Planets today and although they are not wonderful, I wanted to show all their new owners what it's like here in the morning when the babies are at their most active and playing in the lounge room. Hopefully they will give you an indication of how your babies spend their mornings. This activity goes on from about 8am until about 11am. Now do you see why the babies have full house access because could you imagine them doing all this whilst still confined to the back room?

Day 71 - June 14, 2005
I've come to the conclusion that our Planets are incredibly nosy little babies as they always want to know what is going on, or what something is if they don't understand it. Earlier this morning, I watched as Mars & Neptune walked up to "check out" the dogs who were both lying on their beds. After a few sniffs, they walked off, obviously having satisfied themselves that there is no point trying to play with "those" creatures. Also, whenever I open up the lounge room window (it has a wire frame on it), all the Planets come running over to see what on earth I'm doing and they sit there and watch everything I do. At the time of writing this entry, all of the Planets, except for Venus are out in the cat run enjoying the sunshine. Due to the lack of time I've had today, there are no photos, but I'll try and make sure there are some in tomorrow's entry.

Day 70 - June 13, 2005 (10 weeks old today)
Some of our Planets are still having their mad spells but fortunately, they have whole house access at the time of writing this entry so they are creating havoc both upstairs and downstairs. Their mum's appreciate this as well because it means they can both take a break away from the babies and have a bit of a rest. At this age, the Planets are incredibly demanding and they are quite a handful. Saturn has started to become a "typical boy" in some aspects as he is now a bit rougher than the girls and he is forever showing off. We all know that Blacks and Black Torties are incredibly vain, proud cats and it would appear that Saturn has just realised this as over the last couple of days he has been trying all these daring stunts while his sisters sit there and watch him. Venus and Neptune are the real little "thinkers" in the litter. After they finish their mad moments, they will often sit on the chair, watching the antics of everyone else and studying what the other babies do, as if trying to find a reason behind some of their actions. Jupiter is very much like Saturn in some respects, she is a bit of a tomboy and does enjoy the rough play that the Musketeers will dish out every so often. As for Mars, well she's not sure who she wants to be just yet, some days, she is in a very cuddly mood, just wanting to be loved by people, yet on other days, she is as active and as mad as the Musketeers so her personality is still developing and she's trying to fine her own place in the kitten pack. On the whole though, at 10 weeks of age (where has the time gone?) they are truly are a joy and we're very lucky to be able to share our lives with them.
