Day 82 - January 6, 2008

Very short diary entries today due to lack of time etc. This coming week is quite a busy one but I will try my best to get diaries online each day as per normal.

Our Indians are all making very good use of the new scratch centres and have been having the time of their lives playing on all of them. I am going to try and make sure the camera is always with me so I can hopefully get some decent photos of them playing. They do all move incredibly fast with perhaps Casey being the fastest of all the babies. Trying to photograph her at the moment is totally impossible and all I end up with are images of her tail as she zooms past me or as she's running away from me. Kenny is really the only Indian who is always happy to pose for the camera.

Day 81 - January 5, 2008
Both entries are the same today. Today has not gone as planned at all and I did not have time to take photos of any of the babies or do a proper kitten diary entry. The babies are all doing quite well and the Indians and Monkeys had the time of their lives early yesterday evening as we were putting all the new scratch activity centres together. Even the little Monkeys were climbing right up onto the top platforms and Punky Monkey was adamant that her job was to help daddy put them all together. It's safe to say that the new centres are a huge hit with both the adults and the kittens. The only problem is that when they were first put up and the babies were all on them, I took some amazing photos and have somehow since lost all of them which I am really gutted about.

Day 80 - January 4, 2008

I have now discovered the answer to a mystery that has been bugging me for the past 48 hours. When I have gone upstairs to the kitten room to feed the babies, do the cleaning, or take photos, the majority of the Indians have not been in there. What was more puzzling though was then when I would come downstairs to look for them, I still couldn't find them. I haven't been worried in the respect that they can't get out of the home, but I really was curious as to where they kept vanishing to.

This morning when I was hoovering the room I went to move the brand new (and much larger) posh box that Tone made for me. At the time he made it, I wasn't able to store it in the shed or the garage because both of them need to be tidied up and cleared out so I just put it in the kitten room. I did turn the opening around to face the wall though as I didn't want anyone going in there and pee'ing in it, especially now that the kitten room door is permanently open and our adult cats go in and out of the room. Anyway, when I went to move the box I thought it didn't feel right so I moved it back from the wall and peered inside and sure enough, here was Kenny, Casey & Rafael! There is no bedding in the box at the moment, yet the 3 of them still chose to go into the box and have a nap in there. I really don't know how they managed to get in there in the first place but they obviously found a way.

I may end up just giving up and putting bedding in the box and turning it around so that they can make use of it properly.

Day 79 - January 3, 2008

Our Indians move way too fast for me to catch them now and they are certainly making sure I get my daily exercise! At meal times if the Indians don't happen to be in their room, I have to try and catch them to take them upstairs to have their meal and it's such a nightmare because they move so quickly and just when I think I've caught them, they slip out of my hands and are gone again in the opposite direction. As you can imagine, meal times are now taking a lot longer than they ever used to due to me playing "Find the Baby".

All of our Indians, apart from Casey, join in with the adult's evening meal which is really cute. At dinner time, I feed the adults their meal first, then the babies, and then the boys so while the babies are waiting for me to prepare their food, they go and help themselves to the adult's food. Our Tabby babies are the main offenders and of course, being Tabbies, they know that they are irresistible and that none of our adult cats mind if they join in their meal.

It always fascinates me how you can get some babies who really resemble their parents, whereas others seem to have a mixture of both parents and I have to say that Kenny is the spitting image of his father, whereas CC looks exactly like her mother, right down to that evil glint in her eye. When I watch the way they both sit and move it is like looking at younger versions of their parents.

Day 78 - January 2, 2008

Right, now that all this whole "Christmas" stuff is over and done with, things can now start getting back to normal thank goodness! It really is so very hard to get back into the swing of doing kitten diaries. We've had so much going on during the past few weeks and I just don't seem to have a spare moment to get diaries done lately. I think this is possibly the first time ever that I've not kept any kitten diaries up to date.

We have had so much going on lately that I am incredibly behind with the Indians and things like registration and vaccinations. As it stands at the moment our Indians will be vaccinated next week and registrations will be sent in at the same time. Once our Indians have had their first set of vaccinations, I will then have a definite "leaving date", although we still have to find the right homes for Kenny, Rafael and Casey.

Our Indians are doing quite well and are not really giving me any cause for concern. On the whole, they are happy little kids who love to play and get under my feet and all 5 of them have amazing purrs.
