Day 89 - August 17, 2007
I was sitting on the floor in the upstairs hallway last night, with the babies, as they were playing and I tell you, having watched the Capitals rough games with each other, I have no idea how they have made it to this age without actually doing themselves a physical injury! I looked on in horror as I watched London and Canberra locked in a bear hug and then roll down all the stairs. I am not kidding, and if that wasn't bad enough, Washington took a flying leap from the top of the stairs, and landed on both girls as they were still rolling and when they were about half way down the stairs. Yet they all just carried on, and when they reached the bottom of the stairs, with a huge thump or two, they just came tearing back up the stairs to start all over again. Canberra seems to spend most of her waking hours looking for someone to torment, or someone to pick a fight with. Due to her size, she can hold her own against the best of them, but Port-of-Spain was giving her a run for her money and even when Canberra had 2 of Port-of-Spain's legs in her mouth, she was still trying to bite Canberra's ear as hard as she possibly could. They are little terrors with absolutely no respect at all for each other's limbs!

Day 88 - August 16, 2007
Despite it being a bit cooler today, our Capitals and our other babies still spent an awful lot of time out in the cat run this morning which was nice to see. I really love to see them out there interacting and playing not only with each other, but also with our older cats. This diary is quite short today sorry as it was left until last and I desperately want to get the diaries online before we have to take Jag to the vets for his 2nd puppy vaccination.

Day 87 - August 15, 2007
I have now discovered the hiding place for our older babies as is evident by some of the below photos. I had a feeling that it was somewhere up there and sure enough I was right. When I went in to give the babies their lunch and take some photos, some of our Capitals started climbing down from the very top of the furniture. I am constantly being amazed by how agile the babies are, even at this young age. London refused to come down though so I ended up having to stand on the TV unit in order to take some photos of her whereas at least Canberra and Washington had the good grace to come down of their own accord and smile for the camera.

Day 86 - August 14, 2007

All entries are the same today...........

Actually, there aren't really any entries at all today. Last night, I had said to my mate Teen on the phone, that ever since the Nuts were born, I have spent so much time just trying to keep these babies alive, that I had gotten very little pleasure out of the babies at all. All my energy and time had been consumed with syringe feeding and 24 hour monitoring, and I think I had forgotten how to actually just enjoy the babies. So today, I spent some time doing exactly that. I was in the kitten room, sitting on the floor with the kids, just chatting with them and playing, and it was then that it hit me that THIS is what breeding is about and this is what I had missed with these babies because these litters have been bloody hard work, they have been exhausting, so I am now making up for lost time and am simply just going to have fun with our babies :)

Day 85 - August 13, 2007

Our Capitals have now learnt that their meals are in the 2nd kitten room and all 5 of them follow me straight in there now which I am pleased about although they still try to trip me up as I take their food into the room. Even now, Washington continues to be a bit of a "Whingy Boy" and if he is in one of the bunk beds, and wants attention, or wants to eat, he looks straight at me and starts "bleating" and continues to do this until I pick him up and give him what he wants. The only difference between him doing this now, as opposed to when he was so much younger, is the fact that he isn't quite as loud which I'm sure Diana will be glad to hear :) None of our babies have spent a lot of time downstairs today, mainly because it's quite cool today and there is no sun so they have preferred to stay in upstairs in the 2nd kitten room, creating chaos as per usual.

There are no photos of London or Washington today, mainly because I couldn't find either of them at the time I was taking the photos! They did eventually turn up, I have no idea where they were, but as soon as it was meal time, they appeared from nowhere :)

Day 84 - August 12, 2007
All 5 Capitals have been doing their level best to try and totally destroy the 2nd kitten room. To explain just a little, the 2nd kitten room is the room where we used to store everything. Most of what was being stored in there is now in the loft apart form some larger items which were all pushed towards one end of the room. The Capitals think that these items were all placed in the room for their own personal use, as depicted by the photos of London below <sigh>. I am not even attempting to keep them off everything, even when I entered the room today and saw London and Snow queen, right at the top of pile of furniture, mere inches away from the ceiling. My opinion is that if they managed to get themselves up there, then they must be able to get themselves back down :) The only problem our Capitals have really had with the room change is remembering where they are fed now. I am giving them their meals in the 2nd kitten room, and it's taken them a little while to realise this and some babies don't go into the room when I am putting the plate down, instead, they wait for me in the hallway wondering where their food is.
