Day 83 - August 11, 2007
None of our Capitals are speaking to me today because I evicted them all from their main kitten room. They now have the smaller, 2nd kitten room that the younger babies used to reside in, and obviously they still have the full run of the home as they have had for ages now. I did try explaining to them just why they had to be evicted but they did not want to listen at all. All 5 of them made it extremely difficult for me to move all the trays, boxes, beds etc. and as I was taking stuff out of one room, they were trying to run in the other room. We had one serious altercation when Drambuie slipped into the room where the younger babies were and a war broke out between she and Tia Lusso so it took me 5 minutes to sort that one out. By the time I had moved everyone, and their possessions, and done all the cleaning and litter trays, it was already 2:30pm so obviously, photos are just not possible today but we will have images in tomorrow's diary because I am planning on having a slightly more relaxing day tomorrow.

Day 82 - August 10, 2007
If I had to pick just one Capital who has turned out nothing at like I thought, it would have to be Port-of-Spain. She has turned into such a very long, lithe, and elegant girl. She started off being very similar to London and Dublin, however, she has since overtaken both of them in height, and she such a lovely length on her. During the past few weeks, she has changed dramatically, she is also the "purriest" of all the Capitals. As you can see, I did manage individual photos today at long last. I'm sure some of you had forgotten what your children looked like :) Canberra has calmed down a bit as she matures, but I still think she is going to be trouble. I also now think she will eat Julie out of house and home. She's definitely the biggest Tortie girl we have ever bred, so much so, that in reality, she should really be a boy! Both Canberra and Washington are quite alike when it comes to size because Washington is also a very large boy, he looks an awful lot like his dad and he will have his father's size as well. You can no doubt tell from the photos below that London and Dublin are our "petite" females.

Day 81 - August 9, 2007

Tomorrow, I am going to find the time to individual photos of our babies as this is long overdue.

No matter where I turn during the day, the Capitals are right at my feet, or trying to get into something that they shouldn't! It doesn't help that their mother, Drambuie, is constantly opening up our bedroom door and letting all the babies into the room, all day long, and all night long as well. The Capitals then go into the wardrobe and climb into the clothes shelves and settle down in amongst all the sweaters and have a snooze. Now as a rule, this wouldn't normally be a problem, but the fact that Drambuie has always been one of these cats, who will sometimes choose to wee on the bed, she is not allowed in there unless we are in there. Yet, for over a week now, she has been going into the room, with all the other babies, and I have to say that she has not done anything inappropriate at all. Meal times take a lot longer now because if the Capitals are in our bedroom when I call out to all the babies for a meal, some of them, particularly Canberra and Port-of-Spain, flat out refuse to come out from the bedroom. So I have to feed the babies in their room, then go into the bedroom to play "Hunt the Kitten", and try and get everyone out just so they can eat. I've now started putting one of the triple bunks in front of our bedroom door for the time being to try and prevent Drambuie from getting in there.

Day 80 - August 8, 2007

Many, many, apologies to our kitten families, and to all our loyal kitten diary readers for the lack of entries recently. There are a number of reasons why no entries have been gone online, but I would like to mention the 2 main reasons..........

Firstly, we very recently took on a new addition to our fur family, we are extremely proud to be able to introduce you all to Jag aka Vom Saton Marcham. We would ask that you please take the time to visit Jag's own web site and perhaps sign his guest book. Jag is settling in very well and we are delighted with him.

Onto the next reason, and perhaps, at this point in time, a far more important reason. Many people are currently unaware that there is a campaign up and running in protest to the decision made by the GCCF to award it's show publishing contract to a brand new publication. This decision has devastating effects for ALL cat breeders, cat show exhibitors, and pet owners. This campaign is one that I personally feel very strongly about, so strongly in fact that it has been at the forefront of my own, and other breeders' lives for the past week. As such, I would urge each of our kitten families for every single Schimmel kitten out there, as well as our regular kitten diary readers, to please click on the banner below, please read through the web site, and then please, please, show your support by sending in your comments, by writing to the GCCF, and by signing the petition. If this decision is upheld, then Schimmel Siamese and Orientals, as of January 2008, will cease to support and fund the GCCF by way of show entries, cat/kitten registrations. Instead, as of next year, we will be applying for a prefix with TICA and we will be showing our cats and kittens, as well as registering them with TICA. I am not prepared to support any organisation who thinks so little of it's members that a decision of this magnitude was made without first consulting any GCCF cat clubs and their members and without a ballot being taken. This is after all OUR money and it is WE breeders and cat show exhibitors, and pet owners (who pay a £9 transfer fee for their babies) who are keeping the GCCF in existence, something which I think perhaps the GCCF should be reminded of!

I would now ask you to please visit the web site below:

We Don't......Fancy That - GCCF cat breeders, show exhibitors, and owners of GCCF registered cats again the new publication Fancy That
