Day 75 - August 3, 2007
I have come to the conclusion that I should take our Capitals to the vets more often! Never, since the day they have been born, have these babies been so quiet. During the entire journey, they didn't mutter a sound. In the waiting room, they all sat there in their carriers, ears twitching at every unfamiliar sound, and eyes staring in wonder as they looked around. But not once did they open their mouths. When it came time for each baby's examination and vaccination, I was expecting them all to misbehave, and was astounded to see how beautifully behaved they were. I did have to laugh though as Washington was the last baby to be done, and he was the only baby to let out a bit of a whinge as he lay there on the table. The poor little guy also had a tail like Basil Brush when he was taken from the carrier and I don't know what on earth he thought was going to be done to him. He is a remarkably large boy which Jo commented on when she saw him and I think he will grow to be quite a good size. All 5 of our Capitals coped extremely well with their first kitten vaccination and have actually slept most of the day away so far. I'm about to go and feed them their lunch shortly and that should wake them all up a bit :)

Day 74 - August 2, 2007
There are no entries for today sorry as we have had quite a bit going on and things seem to be all over the place at the moment.

Day 73 - August 1, 2007
I think it is very safe to say that the more they mature, the prettier our Capitals are becoming. Sometimes, babies go through what I call "The Uglies" (even Ashanti went through them believe it or not!) yet when I look at the Capitals, they are actually getting better looking as each day passes so this could well be our first ever litter that doesn't go through The Uglies. Mind you, I guess they are only 10 weeks of age so there's still plenty of time yet :) Each day, the Capitals continue to be total and utter "creators of chaos" and there isn't a moment goes by when they are awake and playing that they are doing something that they shouldn't be.

Day 72 - July 31, 2007

I did have intentions of taking photos today, however, the Water Babies have been moved into the 2nd kitten room, along with Lucy, the Nuts and the Detectives, and this means that I am up at every single sound, just waiting for a war to break out. So I am getting nothing done at all today as I've not been able to spend more than 10 minutes on any one thing as I am up and down constantly.

Our Capitals have spent today just like any other day, they have alternated between being out in the cat run (yes we did have some sunshine this morning!) and they have also been creating havoc upstairs in their own room and the hallway. I haven't had the heart to tell any of the babies yet what is going to happen to them on Friday and I think I will just leave it as a surprise for them and hope that when our Torties are on the vaccination table, it will be over and done with before they can react in tortie fashion! I do feel, that during the past week, Canberra has settled down in a bit and just maybe, Julie will manage to have some control over her when she moves into Julie's home. To be honest though, I think that no matter which baby goes to which home, each of our kitten families will go through some "hairy" moments with their new babies and will be throwing up their hands in despair at times :) Still, they are Orientals and they do behave exactly as an Oriental should.

Day 71 - July 30, 2007

I did actually take photos today, despite our devastating loss of Frost last night, but I think I feel the need to do "something" so that I am not thinking about him and we do have other babies in the home, all of whom need me, and there are diaries to be done, I think I'm just trying to have some pretence of normality in a very surreal world at the moment.

Like our other diaries, I am struggling to know what to write about, particularly as I have just gotten off the phone with our vets and I am about to take little Frosts' body in for a post mortem. That is never an easy thing to do. But I was able to look at these photos below and I did smile. There is something about our Capitals' that makes you think all is right in the world, even when it isn't. Their faces are irresistible, they are so very loving, and I think if you look at the images below, and look at their eyes, you will see what I mean. They are a very special litter.
