Drambuie's 3rd Kitten Diary - September 2006 to December 2006
Day 75 - December 1, 2006

There's not really much in the way of photos today as this darn cold seems to be getting worse not better and I am not feeling 100% at the moment.

You can no doubt tell that the most important item on today's agenda for the babies is sleep. It is quite chilly so they are doing what all kittens and cats do in this weather and that is snuggle up and have cat naps. Must admit that as the day wears on I do feel like joining them! This does mean as well that there is a bit of peace and quiet so I can try to get a few things done. Baccarat chose to sleep with some Burps and Frosticles on the radiator bed and she looks rather funny with them as they are quite big babies in comparison to her but she does not seem to mind being squashed at all. I've actually been sitting here for the past hour waiting for the Gamblers to wake up so that I can change the bedding in their cat bed and replace it with a clean one.

Day 74 - November 30, 2006
Individual photos..........of the Gamblers...........you are having a laugh! I really wanted to get some nice photos of the babies today as I've not had individual pics of them in ages and now I know why! They are little buggers, they will not keep still, all they wanted to do was jump off the bed and play. By the time I had finished, I had a rather bad backache from crouching down on the floor trying to get them to stay in one spot. So what you have all ended up with now is the best of a bad bunch of photos I'm afraid. Our Gamblers appetites have increased like you wouldn't believe. About 2 weeks ago, I would put down a plate of food, the plate would be the size of a normal human dinner plate, and when the meal was over, Drambuie and the 5 Gamblers would have left a good third to a half of the meal on the plate. When I feed them now, the exact same amount on the same size plate, the entire plate is cleared and there is nothing left at all. Obviously, the older they get, the more I would expect them to eat, but considering that the Gambler's are not the biggest babies in the world, it does come as rather a surprise to see them finishing everything on their plate.

Day 73 - November 29, 2006

Paper football has been chosen as the designated game of the day and Poker, Roulette, and Baccarat (as well as Ashanti) have had fun and games all morning. I swear I am going through so many notepads at the moment that it's getting beyond ridiculous. After breakfast, Two Up and Blackjack had no intentions of joining in the football match because they were smart enough to know it was much more comfortable sleeping in the bed curled up with the Burps, Cointreau and Amarula. Poker had a marvellous visit from his new mum Wendi, this afternoon. I haven't seen Wendi for a while and it was great to see her again. It was also great to meet Wendi's friend, Marie (apologies if the spelling is wrong), who is a lovely woman. Fortunately, all of our cats behaved themselves for the most part and did not embarrass me, and they were more than happy to show Marie that contrary to popular belief, they do actually have fur and skin :) :) :) Poker has changed quite a lot since Wendi was last here and I know she thinks he is absolutely beautiful and she is right of course. He is a stunning baby, following in his mother's pawprints. Our Gamblers were sound asleep when Wendi and Marie arrived, but at least this meant they stayed still long enough to be admired and have some cuddles because once they start running around, it is almost impossible to move, let alone enjoy any cuddles.

Day 72 - November 28, 2006
Yes I know I went overboard with the "bed" photos today but the babies looked so lovely and were just at that stage where they were about to wake up and I really did get carried away. But with such gorgeous looking fur children, it stands to reason that I am going to take an awful lot of photos of them :) I almost dare not say this, but I think, at least it does appear, that Blackjack and Two Up are actually growing. Their limbs are starting to get a bit longer, and their bodies are also getting a bit longer. Now I am not going to suddenly turn around and say that our 2 angels are going to be just fine because we are a heck of a long way off that. But................if I'm right and I'm not just seeing things, then it really does give me just that little bit more hope. Our Gamblers now accept coming downstairs for the day as part of their daily routine, so much so, that I prepare breakfast of a morning, place 2 sheets of newspaper on the floor, and as soon as the Gamblers hear me do this, they come tearing down stairs and wait to be let out so they can have breakfast. This is actually a very good thing because previously, I had been going upstairs, and carrying the Gamblers' down, two at a time, and by the time I had brought them all down, I was exhausted :)

Day 71 - November 27, 2006
Another day of our Gamblers spending the entire day with the rest of the cat family and again, then have coped extremely well. The only problem we are having is that when I hoover every morning, it's very difficult to avoid sucking up the babies as there are now so many of them downstairs :) One thing that really does please me is how well Roulette and Poker have accepted being with everyone else because out of the Gamblers, they are the 2 babies who have never really been quite sure about accepting new people and other cats, but they have both just made themselves right at home. As I type this entry, is so very peaceful because all the babies have recently been fed again and when I glance down in the big cat bed on the floor beside me, it is full of babies, the Burps, the Gamblers and Ashanti and it really is a lovely sight. I'm not typing too much today because a short while ago I installed yet another new wireless keyboard and mouse and am still getting used to the keyboard as it's different than my previous one.

Day 70 - November 26, 2006
Our Gamblers spent the entire day down here today, in the back room with myself and all of our adult cats and the plan is that from onwards, this is where they will be living during the day. At 10 weeks of age, it's time they fit in with the rest of the family and they have done this extremely well and I'm very proud of them :) Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Lynda and Graham for the first time. They will be Baccarat's new kitten family and it was so wonderful to meet them. They are a lovely couple and I know that Baccarat will have a wonderful home with them. She will also have the pleasure of sharing her home with another, more mature, fur child named Morse and hopefully he will approve of his new house mate. Baccarat put on a marvellous performance and was more than happy to have cuddles with her new mum and dad, in fact, she was so tired when they arrived that she totally zonked out and felt perfectly at home which was great. This does mean that all of our Gamblers now have lovely homes waiting for them, although obviously, this does not include Two Up and Blackjack who are staying here permanently as their futures are so very undecided, but it is so great knowing that our other Gamblers are going to have such amazing lives with fantastic people when they do leave us.
