Kitten Diaries
Drambuie
January 2006
Week 13
Drambuie's 2nd Kitten Diary - January 2006 to April 2006
Day 76- April 14, 2006

Before I forget, I must tell the owners of our Pints and our Bush Rangers that I totally forgot to send off the babies' registration paperwork. So I sent it in at the beginning of the week and the GCCF have confirmed that the received it on April 12, so now it's a case of hoping and praying that they can get the papers back to me before April 28th which is when the first of our children leave us. This doesn't allow much time but I'm going to remain hopeful that we'll have them back in time. I actually thought I had sent them in already but when I was sorting through a mountain of paperwork that was on my desk growing higher and higher, I discovered the partially filled in registration forms at the bottom of the pile. Today's entries are not long one at all and there are no photos as we have family visiting and it is Good Friday after all.

Well Easter is upon us and I would like to remind all diary readers to please not give Chocolate to your cats during the Easter period, no matter how tempting it may be, remembering of course that Chocolate can be toxic to animals. Believe me, your fur kids would be just as happy and much better off if you were to cook them some scrambled eggs instead :) Just like the Pints, Ned Kelly and Joe Byrne have enjoyed wonderful cuddles from Nanny (Graham's mum) and have totally lapped up the attention. She fell in love with Ned Kelly's colouring, as does ever other visitor when they see a Red for the first time. She also was astounded at how massive Joe Byrne is and loved his soft, shiny coat. All in all, the babies are enjoying a fun day and they showed Nanna how energetic they were and how super fast they can move by turning into "zoomy babies" and zooming throughout the home, upstairs and downstairs.

Day 75- April 13, 2006
Both Ned and Joe are having exploratory time throughout the home today. Ned's favourite place to check things out is on the coffee table whereas Joe Byrne, to this day, is still fascinated with Graham's work surface. They have also been rather energetic today, pouncing on, and having wrestling matches with every baby that happens to be in the same vicinity as them really. They both truly are typical little boys, well not that Joe Byrne is particularly little, but still.............I managed to get a couple of photos of Joe today where you can actually distinguish his facial features so I'm sure that Lee and Susie will appreciate that because the poor guy normally just looks like a black blob. Ned Kelly on the other hand is so incredibly photogenic and always looks lovely in any photos that are taken of him. Both boys actually went out into the cat run this morning for about 2 minutes each. It's incredibly windy today and really did not appeal to them at all. Joe Byrne is actually the only baby who's made use of it really.

Day 74- April 12, 2006
Joe Byrne has been in such a very cuddly mood today (and yesterday) because he keeps climbing up onto my lap while I type away and he snuggles in and purrs away like crazy. It's been really lovely as I do have a soft spot for Joe Byrne and I'm really going to miss him so much when he leaves. There is just something about him, I'm not sure what it is but he and I have really bonded. When he's not been with me, all I have seen of him are black blurs tearing past me at tremendous speeds, followed by larger white blurs, and then I see a white blur tearing past me, followed by a black blur still running at top speed. This is of course Cointreau and Joe Byrne who are still getting along like a house on fire and they have the most amazing games of "tag" throughout the entire home. Ned Kelly is much more content to play with the Pints upstairs in the bathroom and the hallway. He is growing so much bigger now and so much heavier as well. I get a shock every time I pick him up because when I look at him, he never looks like he could weigh that much. As you can also see by the photos, Ned Kelly is growing more and more stunning every single day. He and Joe Byrne both look so very different, in stature, as well as in looks, yet both boys are just so beautiful.

Day 73- April 11, 2006
Ned Kelly (along with his partner in crime, Caffreys) has spent most of the morning upstairs creating havoc in the bathroom. Ned has been running around in there, diving in and out of the foot spa, hiding under the washing hamper lid so that he could jump out and scare everyone who walked past. He even managed to knock a bowl of kitten biscuits all over the floor in the upstairs hallway. This is the Red streak coming out in him again, he's been so good for so long but it now appears he is reverting back to what he was like when he was so much younger. I'm sure this will please Elaine to know that she will be getting such a big troublemaker in her home. Joe Byrne on the other hand, while he has been running around as per normal and chasing Cointreau, he also has suddenly become very demanding of my time. He now stares up at me and sings to me until I pick him up and cuddle him and he does this quite a bit throughout the day, more so when the other babies are sleeping and he still wants to play. It took me so much longer to complete the ironing yesterday afternoon as I had to keep stopping to cuddle Joe and give him attention. Both of them though are such wonderful time wasters. You've probably noticed that entries are not particularly long at the moment but it is a bit of a struggle to get 4 kitten diaries online each day.

Day 72 - April 10, 2006
I asked Joe Byrne today why, when the other babies are having their naps, he insists on waking up and deciding it's play time. It wouldn't be so bad if he ran off to play with his mate Cointreau, but instead, he'd rather lie on the kitten bedding and torment the other babies until the wake up and a fight then ensures. I have explained to him that young babies need lots of rest so that they can grow big and strong, to which his reply is "Just how much bigger do you want me to get?". He does have a valid point I guess as he just seems to get larger each day. He is still beating Caffreys in the weight department at the moment, despite being 11 days younger than him. Ned Kelly, as always, is just an absolute delight and it appears that he has actually grown a bit longer, and he has certainly put on a lot more weight now. I think that Elaine will be really surprised when she next sees her Red boy. When Lee and Susie were last visiting, Lee asked me had Ned's ears grown bigger and I didn't think they had, but when I look at him now, I do think it's actually a very good possibility as sometimes they do look larger than they used to be. You would think then with ears that size that the little monster would have excellent hearing but nooooooooooooooooooooooo as he trots off into the kitchen because some idiot left the door open, I say "Ned Kelly, you come back here right now" and he doesn't even hear a word I have said and carries on marching through the kitchen, behind the rubbish bin and then behind the washing machine, where he knows full well that I can not get him out.

Day 71 - April 9, 2006
Again, an extremely short entry today and both entries are the same as Tia Lusso has given birth which you can read about in her kitten diary. But this was totally different to Amarula's babies so my Pints and my Bush Rangers were not "neglected by mum" at all today. They even got their breakfast given to them by me at a normal time, and then had scrambled eggs for lunch. I'm hoping tomorrow, if all is going well with our upstairs babies, that entries can resume as per normal, with the difference being that I am now doing four kitten diaries and no longer just the two. All of our babies are thoroughly enjoying Joe Byrne's blanket which was a present from his new family, Lee and Susie. They brought it over for him when they visited a few days ago and the babies absolutely love it. While Lusso was giving birth this morning, I do not know how she was able to concentrate as all 5 babies were running around upstairs like lunatics and making such loud noises. They now divide their time fairly equally throughout the home and spend half the day upstairs and the other half downstairs. Guinness totally shocked me today because as I was about to start the entries, I heard a noise on top of the large fish tank that resides in the back room and turned around to discover that Amaretto was on top of the tank, but so was Guinness! I do not know how she got up there but I took her down straight away, because if she fell from there, it could be disastrous. However 2 minutes later, the little minx was back up on the tank with her mum. She can be an extremely stubborn girl, in typical Oriental fashion. You will hopefully be able to see by the photos below (which were very kindly taken for our daughter as I was busy at the time), that all of the babies are looking really good after their first vaccinations. There weights are pleasing and their coats are really wonderful.

Day 70 - April 8, 2006
Remember how I was saying very recently how diary entries would be rushed over the next few days? Well that time has now started. As I write this entry it is 1323 on April 8th and to be perfectly honest with you, I have barely seen the Pints or Bush Rangers at all today. Both diaries are exactly the same and in reality, have very little information about the babies in them. My exhaustion is due to the fact that I have not slept in over 24 hours as Amarula went into labour but I won't go into that here as her kitten diary is now online for anyone who wishes to read it. I have vague recollections today of seeing babies spread throughout different parts of the home, upstairs and downstairs either sleeping, playing or feeding from their mothers. But for the life of me, I could not tell you any more than that. Even as I came downstairs three times between the hours of 3am and 6am, I still don't remember actually really seeing them properly at all. Thank goodness for Graham and our daughter who have all the babies' needs under control. I don't think the poor darlings could understand why their human mum was going in and out of the kitchen and wasn't feeding them, even when they were all waiting by the door expectantly at about 0415. There aren't any photos at all either for today which is such a shame as our Bush Rangers turned 10 weeks of age and it has not really been much of a celebration for them at all. Hopefully, depending on how things go tonight and tomorrow, I will try and take a couple of photos for each of tomorrow's entries.
