Day 62 - October 13, 2005
I had to laugh yesterday afternoon when Graham, who had been in the bathroom, recounted a story to me which I could picture so well in my mind. What amused me most though was his telling of it. He told me that "a red baby was sitting on the top of the mop and bucket that we keep in the bathroom, while a white baby was inside the bucket trying to get out. Every time the white baby tried to get out, the red baby would smack it on the head and knock it back in. The white baby then pulled the red baby down into the bucket, climbed out onto the top and then sat there bopping the red baby on the head every time he tried to climb out." My question to Graham was: "which red baby was it". His reply "one of the red ones". I then ask: "Which Siamese was it" His reply: "A white one.........with brown ears" I would like to point out that we don't have any chocolate point babies in the house. I went upstairs about 20 minutes later to find Calypso, Bolero & Salsa all in the bathroom, along with Mrs T, who is a Blue Point Siamese. Brown ears indeed!

Day 61 - October 12, 2005
I felt so sorry for little Tango last night as just before I fed the babies their dinner, everyone was asleep and Tango was wide awake and desperate for someone to play with. He jumped on top of Whispa who was in the radiator bed, started chewing her ears in the hopes that she would play but it wasn't to be. She was furious at having been woken up so she shoved him off the bed and he landed on the base of the scratch post. Rather than get up and try again, he decided to just lie on his back with all 4 legs up in air and started playing with his own paws. As you can see by some of the photos below, our Dancers have all been in very playful moods during the last 24 hours although at the moment they are sound asleep, and the house is rather peaceful.

Day 60 - October 11, 2005
I'm delighted to say that some of our Dancers have now used the cat run for the first time ever. I was really surprised yesterday afternoon to see Bolero & Salsa out in the cat run having a fantastic time, while Tango had gone down the first 2 steps. I think it's the first time in ages that I've had babies in the house that haven't been that interested in going to explore out in the run. I'm also really pleased to see that both Tango and Lambada are now eating much more dry kitten biscuits which is great news. Whilst they would always be the first babies to the plate of wet foods and the last to leave, they still weren't eating as much dry biscuits as I would have liked. As you can see by some of the photos below, Lambada is in an extremely feisty mood today and none of the other babies have been safe from his attacks. My main concern is for poor Bolero's ears as throughout the morning, Bolero has copped the brunt of it. Guess it's his own fault for having such big ears :)

Day 59 - October 10, 2005

There's not really much of an entry at all today and the 4 photos are the same in each entry. As we were out all day yesterday, today has been spent trying to integrate Toussaint into the household and trying to catch up with everything that I am now so far behind on.

Tango has already had a run in with Toussaint today. Every time he sees any older kitten or cat, he automatically presumes that whoever it is, must want to feed him so he walks up to them all and starts nuzzling at them. It was rather unfortunate that he chose to do this with Toussaint and ended up with a smack on the head for his trouble. He has since been smart enough to stay well away from her! Just like all of our other babies, the Dancers have been tearing about upstairs all morning. Salsa was really funny because he knows that there is definitely more "playmates" behind the closed door in the kitten room and he spends quite a bit of time, sniffing under the door and listening to the rather vocal Berries. I think he can't understand why they won't come out and play with him.

Day 58 - October 9, 2005

Today's entries are almost all the same and are extremely short with no photos. The reason for this is that Graham and I left at 4am this morning to drive to Cheshire to pick up our fabulous new Oriental Black Tortie breeding girl. As it has been such a long journey and the remainder of my day needs to be spent with bonding with our new girl, and making sure she is not stressed or unhappy. It is so very different for me to be on the "other side of things" and bringing home a new girl myself. All the advice and common sense that I'm forever telling our own new owners has quite literally gone from my mind.

Our Dancers did not seem that bothered at all by getting an extremely early morning meal and were apparently all happy to just curl up and go back to sleep afterwards until Mo fed them a few hours later. As we weren't here, the babies were not allowed house access unsupervised so they remained in the back room until we arrived home. Then of course, after a meal and a few cuddles, they were all scratching at the door, waiting to be given full house access again and after that, we had Red and Black Dancers all over the house creating havoc. Lambada had some wonderful cuddles with his new parents, Marie & Rowland yesterday afternoon. He had been asleep when they turned up and wasn't particularly keen to have his photo taken but he ended up falling asleep on his new mum's lap which was lovely to see.

Day 57 - October 8, 2005
I had to laugh at Bolero & Calypso last night as they got into a bit of a predicament. Up until the babies are shut in their room to go to sleep, they roam about the house all evening and when I had finished spending some time with Sambuca and the Berries, I came into the bathroom to discover both boys were on top of the laundry basket, both of them looking incredibly worried because they couldn't get down. I didn't even know how they got up there in the first place but I took them off, put them back on the floor, and while I was still standing there, they both scaled the laundry basket until they were on the top again. I was amazed at just how quick they both were. After explaining to them that I was not prepared to stand in the bathroom for the next few hours constantly rescuing them, I took them out of the bathroom and put them back in the hallway where fortunately they proceeded to play chase games with everyone else. We are still having slight issues with the babies during dinner time as they think that they are also entitled to sit at the table with us and on more than one occasion last night, I heard "ouch" from Graham, only to discover that while he's trying to eat dinner, Lambada is climbing up his leg. Salsa had a much more simple way to get my attention and he spent half of the meal time biting my toes! Tango had some wonderful cuddles and playtime today with his new mum and dad, Diane & Spencer which was really lovely. The other babies were mainly all asleep and not interested in playing but Tango was happy to bounce around on the table and he was so very well behaved when we had a claw cutting lesson as I used him as an example to show how mum how easy it was to do their claws yourself.

Day 56 - October 7, 2005 - 8 weeks old today!
I can not believe that our Dancers are now 8 weeks of age because to me, it doesn't seem like it was really that long ago that they were born. I guess that I really should look at booking them in for their first set of vaccinations at some point next week. It always amazes me at just how quickly the 13 weeks of our babies lives actually goes by. All of our Dancers are doing really well and the more I look at Lambada and Tango, the more convinced I am that they are going to grow up to be very similar in looks and build to their Aunty Sambuca. Calypso, Bolero and Salsa are definitely going to take after their mum. At the moment, everyone is sound asleep and it is rather peaceful. When I was doing the upstairs litter trays and sweeping/mopping the floor, as per usual, Bolero and Calypso both wanted to "help" me and everywhere I went with the broom, so did they. As I swept, they either ran through the mess, or the kept jumping in front of the broom trying to catch the bristles with their paws. This is probably why it takes me 10 times longer to get anything done when there are kittens in the house.
