Day 41 - september 22, 2005
Tango gave me such a giggle yesterday afternoon when he was playing. I turned around and saw Twix sitting on the ground and Tango went over to him, remembering that due to the age difference, Tango is smaller than Twix and weighs a lot less, when suddenly Tango sat in front of Twix raised his front paw and started smacking him in the face. It was so funny because Twix was absolutely stunned that this little guy was daring to take him on. Sure enough Twix wrestled him to the ground, got him in a headlock and started chewing on Tango's limbs but Tango constantly fought back and would still be doing so now if I hadn't have rescued him out of pity. While this was going on, Lambada was rolling around on the radiator bed, entwined with Cute T having the most amazing play wrestle which Cute T won (no surprise there) and Lambada decided to pick on Whispa instead by pouncing on her tail. I really should have taken photos of both these events but typically, had left the camera upstairs. I have no idea how I ended up with so many photos of the Dancers today. When I take the photos, I quite literally just stand in one spot or sit on my chair and click away but I think due to their rich colouring, my eyes are automatically always drawn to the Red babies.

Day 40 - september 21, 2005

These are not particularly long entries and the majority of the photos are all just "general" photos as I seem to be quite behind on everything today.

Poor Salsa is not having a good day today through not fault of his own. Twice so far this morning he has fallen into the water bowl and was drenched. On both occasions it was because he was playing chase (well it sounds better than saying that Cute T was terrorising him!) and because he wasn't looking where he was going he just jumped into the massive bowl. It took me 10 minutes to get him dry and I felt so sorry for him. I was however, rather stunned to see him do the exact same thing just 20 minutes later. When I dried him off for the second time I had a chat with him about looking where he was going and the reason that God actually gave him 2 eyes.

Day 39 - september 20, 2005
Just how paranoid can one person become? I was sorting through the images for today's diary entries and heard what I thought sounded like a little kitten being ill. I was up and out of my chair like a shot with the worst things going through my mind and a few seconds later, I found the reason for the noise. It was not someone being violently ill, it was Lambada who thought that despite his size, he is "man" enough to open the kitchen door all on his own. The noise I had heard was him at the kitchen door, with both paws at the door, pulling and pushing and scratching at it trying to get it open. I have to give him credit, he is a very persistent little guy. What did amuse me was the fact that Salsa and Calypso were there watching him, looking on, but in no way prepared to help. I guess they figured that it would make more sense to let their brother do all the hard work while they watch on. Mind you, none of them were particularly disappointed when the door didn't magically open, despite Lambada's efforts.

Day 38 - september 19, 2005
Once again, during moments of sadness that we've had throughout the last few days, I can always rely on my Dancers to make me smile. They really are such funny little babies who love humans and love each other. Lambada and Tango have become very clingy with me recently and as soon as they've eaten and had a game or two, both of them want to be with me and no matter where I am in the room or what I'm doing, they constantly climb my legs now. This morning, Lambada did something he hadn't done before, he climbed up my legs while I was sitting at the pc, settled himself on my lap and then started to chew on my clothes which to be honest, was cute for about 10 minutes but then I started to worry about holes appearing. I put him back on the floor and next thing I knew he was climbing my legs again to repeat the process. The only way I could stop him chewing my shirt was to play with him and then give him some more food which eventually worked. Calypso has been nominated baby who is "Most Likely to fall off the Radiator Bed". So far this morning, he has fallen/been pushed off their three times while they have all been sleeping. The problem is of course that 11 babies all on one bed is quite a lot and inevitably, once they are sound asleep, those closest to the edge will get knocked off as someone stretches out their paws or head. It never phases them though because with a minute they have scaled the scratch post and got back on the bed and found a space to squeeze in.

Day 37 - september 18, 2005
I am feeling really emotionally drained at this present time and am constantly tired. Even now it's difficult to believe that Samba is gone and I am monitoring our remaining 5 Dancers very closely and am finding myself becoming paranoid and watching them for any hint of something not being right. Naturally, none of them have given me any cause for concern. They all rush to the plate at feeding times like the little piggies they are and if I don't prepare the food quick enough for them, they all scream at me telling me how hungry they are. Bolero had a slight memory lapse this morning and after their 2nd meal, he rather conveniently forgot where the litter tray was so instead he found my slipper under the desk and thought that would suffice. It was very fortunate (for him!) that I spotted him in time and managed to grab him and get him in the tray where he promptly proceeded to do his business. What really made me smile is when he had finished he clambered out of the tray, came trotting over to me, looked up at me with this very proud expression on his face as if to say "Aren't you proud of me mum". Obviously I just had to pick him up and have some cuddle time with him.
Day 36 - september 17, 2005

All entries are the same today.

This is a horrific day as we have lost Samba, with seemingly no apparent reason. He was way behind everyone else in the weight department by about 150grams and as mentioned in previous entries, he would not eat from the plate at all. He quite literally just dropped dead on us. It's so incredibly heartbreaking and what makes it worse is that this has happened when all our other downstairs babies are doing so brilliantly. They have massive appetites, they are little terrors and are so very active.

Day 35 - september 16, 2005 - 5 weeks old today!
The entries today have gone on slightly later than normal because I had to wait until the babies were awake so that I could take photos of them. This entry was a bit of a surprise for me because I did not realise that our Dancers were 5 weeks old and was rather amazed at how fast the time is passing. The older our Dancers get, the more havoc they wreak. They are so funny to watch when they're playing. The Red babies are always right in the thick of things whereas the Black babies are the ones that are usually found underneath the pile of wrestling babies. I swear that our Black babies never instigate any play fights, it's always the Reds. Mind you, the Blacks are little Houdini's and are constantly trying to escape through any door which is opened and they are so very fast. Bolero and Salsa are now starting to nibble at the kitten biscuits but they are the only ones so far. Mind you, at only 5 weeks of age, I'm not really that bothered. All 6 Dancers eat from the plate, apart from Samba who still is not keen at all but we'll get there with him in the end.
