Drambuie
August 2005
Drambuie's 1st Kitten Diary - August 2005 to November 2005
Drambuie Day 101 - November 22, 2005

Yesterday was another sad day for me as Tango left me late yesterday afternoon for his new home. The rest of his brothers had all left a week earlier and I must admit that I had become extremely used to seeing him around the home and he was starting to become part of our own cat family. I think that if no one had inquired about him it would have been very easy to just let him remain here and join the rest of our crew. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't to be the case. Tango went home today with his wonderful new owners, Kim and her family to a home that he will be sharing with 7 other new feline playmates. He is going to have the time of his life at Kim's and I know he will be loved and spoilt rotten. Already, Kim has sent me some wonderful updates and our boy is already making himself at home which is so wonderful to see. The best part of breeding is knowing that our babies are in the same sort of home environment that we have given them here and I have no doubts about that at all for Tango (or indeed any of the Dancers).

This does mean that we now reached the end of another Schimmel Kitten Diary but for some reason, it feels like the end of an era. I don't know why, I guess because our last 4 litters during 2005 have been such very hard work with far more tears and heartache than good times. I can say that I'm incredibly proud of our Dancers, and of Drambuie who raised 5 of the most beautiful babies that we all fell in love with so very easily. Many, many thanks to each and every one of our owners for taking a Schimmel baby into their homes and please remember that I do like to receive updates on our babies whenever you have the time. Thank you also to everyone that I have managed to bore to death with this kitten diary, hopefully, you did enjoy reading it though. It does seem strange doing just the one diary entry for our current litter but I have a very strong feeling that by the end of December we will have started one, possibly two new pregnancy diaries................................................................

Drambuie Day 91 - November 11, 2005 - 13 weeks old today!

Well I was right, and our home was much quieter with Calypso. I'm always amazed by the fact that the other babies never seem to notice their brothers and sisters disappearing one by one. Today is another very sad day for me because at the time of writing this entry, Salsa and Lambada have both gone in the car with their new families. Lambada will be sharing his home with Rowland and Marie and he will have company in the form of a Manchester Terrier called Manchy and I think that once the bonding period is established, they will be best of friends. I know that Lambada is going to be so loved in his new home and no doubt, spoilt rotten as well. Salsa will probably have the biggest change of all as he will be sharing his new home not only with Martin, Debbie and their children, but also a Bengal named Monty who is 10 months old. This will be really good for Salsa because he's such an active, energetic baby and the Bengals are also very active, intelligent cats so once they make friends and establish some ground rules, they are going to have a fantastic time playing lots of games. Hopefully, they won't be too naughty together and drive their human family around the bend. As for Bolero, well, I don't really know what to say about him as Graham and I have become very attached to him and letting him go will not be easy at all. The fact that he's going to live with our good friend Jacqui, as well as Caryll, Ray and Bolero's "Aunty Kyla" does make his leaving much easier. Kyla (aka Pr Schimmel Chilli Tequila) is actually Bolero's proper Aunty as Drambuie (Bolero's mum) is Kyla's sister. Knowing Kyla as well as I do, I think it's safe to say that her nose will be put out of joint for a day or two, but being a typical, naughty tortie, I have no doubts at all that before long, she will take Bolero under her wing and will probably encourage him to be even more mischievous than he already is.

I am going to miss all 3 of our boys an awful lot but I know that each baby is going to a fantastic home with new families who will love them forever and that is all that we can ever ask for our babies when they leave us. As our Dancers are now 13 weeks of age and Tango (and Buttons) are both now currently available, I will be stopping the diary entries now, however, on the day that they leave, we will do one last entry here, as well as in the Chocolate Bars Kitten Diary. So do please check back in a couple of weeks for our last update.
