Drambuie's 1st Kitten Diary - August 2005 to November 2005
Drambuie Day 83 - November 3, 2005
There is not much in the way of photos today as it's a busy day for me because Mrs T is leaving me today and I have to clean out some plants in the largest of our fish tanks so I don't really have a great deal of time. Bolero definitely does not understand the word No and you would think that after Salsa's little escapade, Bolero would have learnt something but it was the case. This morning, the mechanic knocked on the door, I went found the keys for both cars, went back to the door and Bolero was right on my heels trying to get out the door as well! If that wasn't bad enough, a parcel was delivered about 5 minutes later and sure enough, Bolero was halfway out the door as I was trying to sign for the parcel. I would like to wish Jacqui all the best in keeping this boy under control because I certainly can't. Of course, it's always possible that he knows as soon as I see him at the door, I scoop him up and cuddle him straight away and he responds by purring like mad so perhaps it's not that he wants to get out the door, but he wants to be picked up and knows that is a surefire way of getting what he wants. Every single one of our babies has had "mad moments" this morning for about 2 hours and then fortunately, they settled down to sleep, all in a pile upstairs in the hallway. I am sure that the weather has something to do with it as our older cats have also been tearing around like lunatics all morning.

Drambuie Day 82 - November 2, 2005
Prior to having Drambuie's litter, someone should have told me that in order to raise the babies I would need a degree in psychology and should have had training as a prison warden! These boys all belong in a juvenile detention centre! Last night, I had finished bleaching the litter trays, was about to take 2 massive boxes out to the rubbish bin and just as I opened the front door to step out, a horde of babies appeared out of nowhere so I'm trying to get myself and these massive boxes through the door without the babies getting out at the same time. Inevitably Salsa got out. It was a choice of either him or Bolero as both were neck to neck at the front of the pack. Bolero got pushed back with my slipper but as I was pushing him back, Salsa ducked between my legs, took a flying dive off the front porch and went and sat under the car in the driveway! Had he have done this in the daytime, it wouldn't have been so bad but as it was late at night, it was pitch black and I couldn't see a darn thing. So I'm out there, on my hands and knees, calling him in the dark, whilst screaming out for someone to come and help me and bring a torch (I should mention that I was also locked out of the house as I didn't take my key with me!). Finally someone heard me and Mo brought a torch out and I managed to recapture Salsa and get him back inside. As I've come back in the door, the hooligans are all sitting there just waiting to have "their turn". Then this morning, after bleaching the trays again, I was trying to sweep and mop the upstairs hallway and floor etc. and all the Dancers wanted to "help" me. I would be at a loss as to determine which baby was more "helpful". Every time I swept one part, 2 babies would attack the bristles on the brush, while 2 more would run through what I had just swept scattering it everywhere! When the mop came out it was even worse and what should have taken me 10 minutes took half an hour. My one consolation is that in a week or so's time, these delinquents will be someone else's problem and not mine :)

Drambuie Day 81 - November 1, 2005
Typing any sort of entry today is difficult as I have Sambuca and both Berries sitting on my lap and Loganberry is trying to "help" me type. When I fed the Dancers their first meal this morning at 7am they acted as if they were starving and hadn't been fed for days. They had their last meal last night at about 11:30pm and obviously there are bowls of dry kitten food throughout the house, however, straight after breakfast, what did they do but groom themselves and then 5 minutes later, go and feed from Drambuie! I bet she will be glad to see the back of these babies and just get back to being a normal cat for a while. Calypso is now feeling rather pleased with himself as he is able to sleep on top of the fish tank like all the "big cats" do so he has spent some time napping there this morning. Salsa has been far too busy getting into mischief to want to take any naps so far. Bolero still prefers the upstairs part of the house and he really likes to be in the same vicinity as his mum and his grandma which is really lovely. Although having said that, both he and Lambada have had a "thing" today about following me about when I go upstairs and then down the stairs and I haven't quite figured out whether or not they just want some cuddles or if they're deliberately trying to trip me up! As for Lambada, well he never knows where he wants to be or who he wants to be with, or which part of the house for that matter. I will see him hanging around in one part and then 10 minutes later, he can be found in a totally different room.

Drambuie Day 80 - October 31, 2005
Just in case you thought I had given all your babies away, I've put some photos, albeit, not very good ones in today's entry just to prove that they are still here :) Our babies spent an hour this morning playing chase throughout the upstairs hallway and the bathroom and it was so frantic that even our older cats were looking for somewhere to sit where they were out of the way. I would be hard pushed to have to decide which baby has been the most active this morning as all 5 Dancers have been as bad as each other. I'm actually rather relieved that I'm sitting in the back room where they can't "get me" :)
Drambuie Day 79 - October 30, 2005
Apologies yet again, for not getting the diary online on the correct day and again for no photos but it's been a hectic weekend and this week is going to be even busier as Mrs T will be leaving us which means loads more paperwork. I will definitely put a few photos in tomorrow's entry though. Our Dancers are now dividing their time between the upstairs and the downstairs, playing chase throughout the house, attacking each other on the dining room table and running up and down the stairs like lunatics. We still have to be so very careful where we walk because when they are awake and playing, they seem to spring out at us from nowhere. Our Dancers will be having their last vaccination towards the end of this week so that they will all be ready to go to their new homes starting on November 11th.
Drambuie Day 78 - October 29, 2005
My Dancers are giving me lots of extra exercise at the moment in the respect that they rarely come downstairs now during the day because they would much rather create havoc upstairs. They tend to come downstairs first thing in the morning and also during the night because the babies are no longer confined to the kitten room for sleeping any more. They have the run of the house day and night. This means though that if I want to actually see the Dancers, I have to go upstairs to do so. Lambada is now as large as Bolero, well either that or Bolero is shrinking! Calypso and Salsa have overtaken everyone in the size department and I have a feeling that when they are fully grown babies, they will be rather large. Calypso is, without a doubt, the biggest troublemaker I have seen in a long time and he has absolutely no fear at all of anything, including the older cats in the household. He doesn't think twice about sneaking up behind one of our adults, smacking them on the head, or biting them on the tail and then running away again. I had to laugh when he nipped Amarula on the tail this morning while she was sleeping curled up with some of the babies and it was unfortunate that Calypso ran away too quick and by the time Amarula turned around, she decided that the baby who bit her must have been Bolero (well they do all look rather similar) so the poor little guy got a smack on the head when he hadn't even done anything.

Drambuie Day 77 - October 28, 2005
Hectic and Chaotic! That is my house and life at the moment. With babies leaving me at different intervals, I don't seem to have a spare moment to get "normal" daily things done, including photos for diary entries as you can obviously tell. Due to having been kept so busy, it was a bit of a shock to realise my Dancers are 11 weeks old today! As each day passes, our babies get more mischievous, particularly our Red babies. I am afraid to say that Calypso, Bolero and Salsa are just uncontrollable and there is no stopping them. I'm actually starting to pity their new owners! That is not to say that Tango and Lambada aren't mischievous as well because they certainly are! They are also incredibly active but the one difference between our Blacks and our Reds is that Lambada and Tango, while they are being naughty, still loved to be picked up and cuddled and kissed whereas the Red babies have absolutely no interest in cuddles when they are one of "those moods" and I just can not calm them down at all. All of the Dancers had some great fun and cuddles with Elaine and Aiden who visited us yesterday. Elaine is the owner of Pr Schimmel Superhoops and our Dancers spent quite a long time acting up for the visitors and really showing what they are like. As I mentioned in the Berries' kitten diary today, I'm hoping that come tomorrow, I can at least manage to take some photos and start to go back to normal diary entries.
