Day 48 - June 9, 2007
There isn't an entry for today as I had quite a few things to get done around the home, chores that I had been putting off that really needed to be taken care of.

Day 47 - June 8, 2007
Liquorice' special day had come at last! Her new mummy came to visit her. It was so great to meet "L". She and I have been in contact almost on a daily basis for a little while now and I can honestly say that she is every bit as fantastic as I knew she would be. We really had a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and "L" was able to see for herself just how difficult it is now to tell our 3 Black babies apart. Liquorice was more interested in sleeping when "L" first arrived but then she did wake up and was happy to have some games and show her new mummy that she could also be very active when she wants to. There were times when she was playing and when Ugly Duckling and Little Tuk were playing, that we had to double check to make sure we knew exactly which one Liquorice actually was! She really is such an adorable little baby though and is coming along beautifully. Her eye colour is starting to change now and is no longer the blue colour that it was and I'm really interested to see just how her eye colour does eventually end up. I do believe that Liquorice will have a fantastic home with her new mum and I couldn't be more delighted about this particular partnership between mum and baby. It will also be lovely for Liquorice to be in a home where she has one of her own kind to play with. Thanks so much again "L" for the bottle of wine. That was really sweet of you and it's one I've not tried before so I'm looking forward to it.

Day 46 - June 7, 2007
Liquorice really needs to get out of the habit of nibbling on my feet or trying to climb my legs each time I sit down to feed Edinburgh. It actually is very endearing but does make the feeding difficult as I have to keep stopping to remove Liquorice. She is such a bundle of energy, always on the go and always on the search for someone to create havoc with. I am pleased that she is such a sociable young lady, particularly as there is a very good chance she will be sharing her home with a Siamese playmate. She doesn't have any favourite games or favourite toys at the moment because Liquorice enjoys everything about life. She was a little cow today though when it came to photos and there was no way that she wanted her photo taken and I ended up chasing her around the room for a good 10 minutes and still didn't end up with any decent photos as you can see below. Mind you, I'm not 100% convinced that it IS Liquorice in all of these photos!

Day 45 - June 6, 2007

Today, we are trying to get back to some form of normality after losing our Sabre, so our kitten diaries have resumed as per normal, complete with photos just in case some of you have forgotten what your babies look like. Before I start with the entries though, there is a couple of things................firstly, we would like to congratulate the Maroochydore home for their great show results at the Somerset Cat Club show on June 2. We are delighted for Teen, Tone, and Val and extremely proud of both girls' results. Secondly, we would like to thank all those very kind people for their messages on Siamese Cat Chat regarding the loss of Sabre. Your posts are very much appreciated. We would also like to thank all those lovely people who were kind enough to take the time out of their busy lives to email their condolences. As of yet, I have still not replied to the emails but will do so very soon. Now, onto our babies................

I have told Liquorice that she has to practice "being good" as her possible new mummy will be coming to visit her on Friday and she is not allowed to do anything naughty in case she puts her mummy off. Whether or not she will heed my advice is yet to be seen. Suddenly, it seems like Liquorice has turned into a proper little kitten and is no longer a baby. She continues to grow at a rapid rate, she is getting prettier every single day, and her eating knows no limits whatsoever. If I were to think back to previous litters, I would have to say that none of our other female babies have ever had the same appetite that Liquorice has. It still doesn't matter what food I put down on the tray, I have registered Liquorice now because she is already 6 weeks of age and I knew from very early on what her pedigree name would be as it is name that her other "great grandmother" (Marcelle) chose for her when she first visited Liquorice. As her possible new mummy is a keen show enthusiast, I want all the paperwork completed so that Liquorice can grace the show bench from an early age. I know that the time is coming to give Liquorice full access to the whole of the upstairs because each time I enter and leave the kitten room, she tries to run out the door. I am of the opinion that if she is old enough to try and escape the kitten room, then she is certainly old enough to explore the stairs and the landing. Even now, Liquorice continues to be extremely gentle with our smaller Capitals and not once have I seen her jumping on them, or chewing their ears, like she does with the Tails of Hans Christian Anderson and I am very relieved about this. So I guess she can be good when she wants to :)

Day 44 - June 5, 2007
There is no diary entry for today.

Day 43 - June 4, 2007

All 3 diary entries are the same today.

During the weekend, our mature dog, Sabre, started to deteriorate. She had been suffering with arthritis and leg problems for a few years now and was on medication as well as herbal supplements. Whilst she was not able to run around like she used to, she was still mobile and had quality of life. Her deterioration was very rapid and with a heavy heart, we phoned our vet first thing this morning and we explained the situation and took her in at 10am. Sabre was suffering and was in pain and we made the very difficult decision to let her go to Rainbow Bridge. I stayed with Sabre while she was euthanased and in a week or so, her ashes will be returned to our home, where she belongs. Sabre was 16 years old when she left us and she had been Graham's faithful companion for 15 1/2 years and they both had a very special bond. I could not put into words, just how special Graham and Sabre's relationship was. Our home seems so empty without her and our hearts are broken. In time, Sabre will be added to our Rainbow Bridge page. We know that she is not in any more pain and that her suffering has ended, but that is little comfort for the pain and loss we are experiencing. We know that as time passes, we will learn to live without her in our lives, but she will never, ever be forgotten and she will remain with us always.
