There is no diary entry for today.

Day 40 - June 1, 2007
I think at the moment I am running out of things to actually say about Liquorice because she spends her days exactly the same. She eats, she uses the litter tray, she plays, she pounces, she climbs, she cuddles, she runs around and that really is life for Liquorice at the moment. Despite being in the same box as our tiny Capitals, I have noticed that she is very particularly about where she steps when she is getting in and out of the box, and she no longer tears around inside the box chasing the other babies. She only does this when she is in the box that sits opposite as the Capitals are not in that box. I don't know if she has some sort of inbuilt sense that is telling her that the small babies could be in danger if she were to jump about on them. Of course it could just be that she finds them extremely boring as they can't play with her and she is choosing to play with the bigger babies instead out of the box and running around the room.

Day 39 - May 30, 2007
In a desperate attempt to keep Liquorice out of the Capitals' posh box, I have had to relent and move the brand new (still unvarnished, sorry Tone!) posh box into the kitten room and I have put all the Tails of Hans Christian Anderson, and Liquorice, in the new posh box. Whether or not this will work, I honestly don't know. At the moment I'm not sure if it's the "mystery" surrounding the Capitals as to the reason Liquorice wants to spend time with them, or if it's the fact that they are now in the posh box and Liquorice preferred that box. Time will tell I guess. Liquorice is getting more, and more adorable each day, more mischievous as well, but I would not want her any other way. I could go on and on, boring everyone with just how special this girl is, and of course it doesn't help that this is only one child in this litter, but I'm sure if there had been more, they would be equally as amazing as Liquorice is.

Day 38 - May 30, 2007
And the screams go on.....................Cointreau's calling has just about reached it's peak. She can be heard throughout the entire home, even though she is upstairs in the kitten room with the door closed. Each time I enter and leave the room, Cointreau bolts straight out of the door, straight downstairs where she stands on the bottom step, screaming through the wire barrier at Ashanti and Tuaca to come and "play" with her. Of course Liquorice pays no heed whatsoever to her mum's calling, and she continues to pounce on her and does her level best to entice her mum to play chase with her. Naturally when Cointreau is doing her "rolling" thing as all girls do when they are in call, Liquorice takes this as an invitation to play so it is fun and games all round in the kitten room at the moment as you can imagine. Liquorice has now surpassed the 600 gram mark and is currently weighing in at 615 grams which I am very pleased about. She now happily joins her mum's at the food tray for each meal and it makes no difference at all to Liquorice what is in the actual tray because as far as she is concerned, if it's good enough for mum, then it is good enough for her. I've yet to see her turn her nose up at anything. We've now had numerous phone calls and emails regarding homes being offered for Liquorice and I'm rather delighted to say that it appears that the "right" home has now been found with a lovely, enthusiastic novice show exhibitor. Hopefully within the next week or two, Liquorices' possible new mum and I will be able to meet and make sure we are both right for each other and that this is right for my special Liquorice.

Day 37 - May 29, 2007
There's no photos in today's entries, and the entries are all the same for each of the 3 kitten diaries. I spent most of this morning doing the normal cleaning chores etc., and this this afternoon, we had a lovely visit from our mates, Teen, Tone, and Val of Maroochydore Siamese & Orientals. Tone had made us another new "posh box" which I am totally delighted with. That guy really is a star and it's not often that you find someone so generous with their time and hard work and Tone is one in a million :) We had such a fantastic visit with our mates, as we always do, and Teen and Val were able to have cuddles with all of our babies. The babies did enjoy their visits and did not mind at all when they were picked up and cuddled and examined, and the mum's were delighted to see some new faces in the kitten room and were all vying for attention, particularly Cointreau who is back in full blown call, her 3rd since Liquorice was born! It was so nice to be able to show off the babies and to chat with Teen and Val about colour, show potential, the "cuteness" factor, future possible matings for our girls and for the Maroochydore girls. Of course it was also lovely to be able to show off our darling Ashanti who is sister to "Sheep" who shares the Maroochydore home, and make comparisons between the 2. I was also really pleased to hear that our little Nocello is not really that little at all, and according to Teen, she is not much smaller than her sister, Dingo, who also shares the Maroochydore home. It really was a wonderful afternoon and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Day 36 - May 28, 2007
Liquorice has been in one of her mischievous moods today and she's been trying to start play fights, with anyone who is within reaching distance. When she isn't starting fights, she is stalking and pouncing on the rest of the family. Not even her mothers are safe from her, and I swear if she bites me on the toe just one more time then she and I are going to have serious words :) We have now made the decision that we need to advertise Liquorice for a new home, preferably a show/pet home, and despite the fact that I would love to keep her, I am keeping one of Drambuie's Black Tortie babies instead. This was a very tough decision to make and what will be even harder now will be finding the right home for her.

Day 35 - May 27, 2007
Weighing in at 571 grams today, I am delighted with Liquorice's progress at the 5 week stage of her life. I really just don't know what to say about Liquorice. She is just Liquorice, no explanation necessary. She spends her waking moments running rings around both mum's, climbing on everything she can, stirring up trouble wherever possible, walking through the food bowls, and creating total and utter havoc in my kitten room. At 5 weeks of age, she is a terror, but who on earth could even get the slightest bit cross with her, because for all her mischievous ways, she has the most fantastic, loving, nature, and is always up for a cuddle or two. At her very naughtiest, she has the most innocent of faces, and this girl could soften even the hardest of hearts with just one look into her eyes.
