We are 10 weeks old now!
Day 67 - November 2, 2006

Entries are not particularly long today as one of our older fur children is leaving home to live with her new family so it's been a very busy day as you can imagine. I'm also slowly losing the motivation to do any entries because I have had quite a few other bits and pieces to get through as well and time is just getting away from me yet again.

Up until 11am today, had anyone been in our home they would have thought we had a herd of elephants living upstairs due to the noise that the babies were making. Our burps are not small babies and as such, when they are tearing up and down the stairs and creating havoc, all you can hear is thumps. At the moment though, as it's quite late in the afternoon, they are all sound asleep and it is incredibly peaceful :) I now know who to blame for leading the Gamblers astray with regards to the book case and that is Sprite. After breakfast this morning, and after the morning grooming session, Sprite waited until Poker was playing with him and then climbed up into the 2nd shelf of the bookcase, peered down at Poker as if to say "Go on, I dare ya". Sure enough Poker followed suit and starting climbing in amongst the books as well. As per usual, 3 books tumbled out, missing the water bowl by centimetres. If I had to choose which baby was the most mischievous though, that would be Coke. He is always the first of the babies to do something that he shouldn't bless him.

Day 66 - November 1, 2006
Our Burps are becoming very clever indeed because they seem to know that if they want to escape from upstairs, into the downstairs part of the home, that they must wait until "mum" is about to feed them, because for a lot of meals now, the Burps sit on the bottom step and as soon as I open the barrier to try to get through balancing the plates of food, they all scoot past me, into the hallway, where they promptly proceed to trot along exploring. No matter what I do to try and stop them, nothing works. I can't even say it is just one Burp in particularly because all 4 of them are exactly the same. I keep thinking about Pepsi and am wondering what to do with him actually. As you all know, Fanta, Coke and Sprite all have fantastic homes waiting for them which I am thrilled about, but for whatever reason, at the moment, Pepsi is still not spoken for despite having numerous inquiries yet none of them have been "right". Which leaves me to wonder whether or not Pepsi should actually remain here to replace his father as a stud cat next year. We like to retire our boys before they reach 3 years of age (Sheridans is currently 21 months old). Pepsi has as good, if not better colouring than his dad, he also has better type, and by the time he would be ready to take on stud duties, his father would be approximately 2 1/2 years of age and ready for a family life. But I honestly don't know. Still, we do have a long way to go yet and possibly, the perfect home will come along for our man and that will solve the dilemma :)

Day 65 - October 31, 2006

Photos are not great today but I am still trying to catch up with everything and I did figure as we've not had any photos for so long now that is was far better to include just a few than none at all.

I was just about to start this entry when I heard 2 crashes from upstairs. I went tearing up there to find Coke and Fanta sitting on a pile of my books that were now on the floor! I am presuming that they have been climbing throughout the bookcase again and knocked loads of books off the 2nd shelf and they tumbled out with them. At this rate I will be very lucky if I have any books left by the time our current sets of fur kids leave us. Our Burps are doing much better today than they have for the last couple of days and Cointreau, fortunately, is quietening down a bit now as well with regards to the calling so hopefully she is coming to the end of this cycle. It is incredibly chilly today so our Burps have spent a good part of the day (when they haven't been eating!) curled up on the radiator bed, or on the larger bed that is right in front of the radiator. All four of our Burps still have a tendency to come downstairs and join the adult cats, assisted by their mum who is constantly pushing open the wire barrier door that blocks the stairs off from the rest of the home. This means that as I'm sitting here at the computer, every now and then, I spot a Chocolate Point Siamese kitten wandering around the room and this totally confuses me for a brief few seconds as all our Choccy babies should be upstairs.

Day 64 - October 30, 2006

Many, many apologies for the few days we have had with no entries at all. Basically, our weekend was full of unexpected events and news etc and everything has been up in the air and I have just not had the time to do any kitten diaries at all. There is a short entry for today however there are no photos because we are now just incredibly behind with so much and we need to spend the entire day trying to get back to normal. Tomorrow, there will be photos as per usual, and hopefully things will have calmed down again and diaries go back to having proper daily entries.

Right as for our Burps, they've not had a particularly great weekend with the respect that Cointreau came back into call about 4 days ago, and as a result, our poor Burps have gone very "off colour" and are looking quite shaggy :( So, whilst they were due to have their first set of vaccinations today, it has been put back until they are 100%. We can not take any chances and vaccinate babies who are under the weather as it may send them downhill dramatically and it just is not worth the risk. Unfortunately, this will affect one of our kitten families, Dawn and her family, because this means that Fanta will not be able to leave here until a week or two later than planned. Breeding never does go according to plan and whilst we do love our babies to go to their new homes on their due dates, we would rather send babies home who are 100% fit and healthy, than risk sending a baby home that might only be 98%. Fortunately, the other babies' new families will not be affected by this because Coke and Sprite were always staying an extra month anyway as their family will be on holidays, and Pepsi doesn't actually have a home yet. Other problems we have had this weekend is that Coke got his head stuck through the stair banister <sigh>, how he stuffed his head through in the first place is beyond my comprehension, but he managed it. So he had a little bit of a shock but is fine about it. Then Pepsi appeared to have injured his leg whilst playing roughly with the other babies, but again now, he appears to be okay. This really is all very typical when everything was going so incredibly well with the children.
