Kitten Diaries
Cointreau
August 2006
Cointreau's 1st Kitten Diary - August 2006 to November 2006
Day 140 - January 14, 2007

Today is a very sad one yet again because Coke and Sprite have now left me to go and live with Jayne, Ella and their family. Both boys stayed here longer than usual as Jayne had holidays booked and we both felt it would be unfair on the babies to let them go to a new home for a couple of weeks and then get put in a cattery. We have loved having this extra time with our boys but it does make the parting harder because they really have attached themselves as family members now. I know they are going to have a fantastic life with their new family and Ella has been waiting a long time for this day to come and she is going to be a wonderful new mummy to both boys, I have no doubts about that at all. They will have a wonderful time playing games in their new home and snuggling up with their new family. Coke and Sprite are such gorgeous babies and rather mischievous, in typical Siamese fashion. They are also incredibly loving and the moment you pick them up for cuddles they start to purr. I know they will continue to do so with their new family. I don't think it will be long either before they eat their new family out of house and home because both boys are going to be quite big boys, as their new family saw when I first introduced them to Sheridans who is Coke and Sprite's dad. Not a single one of the 9 photos I took of Sprite turned out at all, they were all blurry unfortunately so the only photos I've been able to put in the entry are a few of Coke which did actually turn out.

This does mean that we have come to the end of another Schimmel Kitten Diary and have been thoroughly delighted with the Burps. Cointreau was an amazing mum considering it was her first ever litter, and she gave us beautiful, happy, healthy babies and what more could any breeder ask for. We know by now that Pepsi and Bailey (Fanta) have now settled in extremely well with their new families which is what we aim for with all of our babies. The hardest thing to do as a breeder, is to find the right, loving, homes for our fur children and again, we know that we have made the right choices for the Burps. I'm also incredibly sad when a kitten diary ends, because our babies bring us so much joy and love, and the Burps were quite an "easy" litter. I would like to thank each of our new kitten families for accepting a Schimmel baby into your homes and we know that your babies will bring you as much happiness as they did during their short time here with us.

Day 105 - December 10, 2006
Yet another sad day as the 2nd of our Burps left us. Pepsi went to share his home with Barry and I know he is going to a marvellous home. Again, he looked so small in his carrier and it really does just break your heart to see the babies being taken from you. We are so lucky though to have found such great homes for our kittens. The home does seem a lot quieter now with 2 of our Burps gone. Although Coke and Sprite will be remaining with us until January as their family has holidays booked. We are almost at the end of the diary now, but please check back approximately January 7th when our remaining 2 Burps will leave.
Day 103 - December 8, 2006
This has been a sad day today as our darling Fanta left us to go and live with is new family, Dawn, Larry and Duncan. I know he is going to a wonderful home and will have a fantastic life with his new family, however, this does not make the leaving any easier. He did look so tiny in his carrier when we put him in there but hopefully he will have had an easy journey to his new home.
Day 100 - December 5, 2006
Our Burps had their final vaccination today and all went very well indeed. All 4 babies were extremely brave. It's just as well Graham came with me because with 3 Chocolate Point babies, we had to be very careful that we didn't vaccinate the same baby twice. There were no side effects at all from the vaccines and within half an hour of being back home, the Burps had a meal and were then bouncing around as per normal.
Day 91 - November 26, 2006
Well our Burps have now reached 13 weeks of age and our diary is closing to an end. We always shut the kitten diaries off when the babies reach the 13 weeks of age mark as normally that is when they are leaving to go and live with their new families. As you know though, the Burps are here slightly longer than usual as we held off their vaccinations, so what will happen is this. There will be no more entries in the Burps' kitten diary now until they have their 2nd set of vaccinations and there will be an update on that day to let everyone know how their they fared with their jabs. Then, 2 of our Burps will be leaving shortly after that, and on each day that those babies leave, there will be an entry in the diary, again to say how their last day with us went. You may remember that Coke and Sprite are remaining with us a while yet due to holidays previously booked by their kitten family, so again, when those 2 Burps leave us, the diary will be closed off for good. So in the meantime, please do check back around December 4th, to see how the vaccinations went.
