Kitten Diaries
Cointreau
August 2006
Cointreau's 1st Kitten Diary - August 2006 to November 2006
Day 90 - November 25, 2006
There is no diary entry today as we have not been here for the majority of the day. Instead, we visited the biggest GCCF cat show in the country, The Supreme. We've not even been to the Supreme before as we were always too far away but now that we have moved it is much closer and easier to get to. Champion Schimmel Sun Chaser and Schimmel Mazpahs Castana had an enjoyable day out with pleasing results.

Day 89 - November 24, 2006
I actually sat here for 20 minutes this morning, staring at this page, with a total mind blank and I had absolutely no idea at all what to write about the Burps. Then I remembered last night and a little incident we had. Dinner was over so Mo was clearing the dishes and I was attempting to do the litter trays. I opened the cupboard under the stairs and as always, 2 of the Burps ran in while I was trying to get the tub of litter out. They wouldn't come back out so I closed the door and took the tub into the back room. I went back to the cupboard, opened the door, and Fanta merrily trotted through the open door, whereas Coke had managed to climb on top of the other tubs that were in there and he was obviously waiting for me to rescue him because as soon as I opened the door, he sprang from the tubs straight onto me, clinging on for dear life bless him. I gave him some cuddles and he was very relieved to be out of the cupboard but it didn't stop any of them Burps from trying to get back in there when I was putting the tub away again. They never learn. For hours last night they were tearing around like lunatics and it was such a struggle to get in and out of any doors, or try to get upstairs without the Burps getting into places that they shouldn't.

Day 88 - November 23, 2006
One of these days soon, I will endeavour to actually take some photos of the Burps while they are actually doing things, instead of just sleeping. I could not get them to wake up and move from the radiator bed at all this morning to have their photo taken. They were not having it one bit. Sure enough though, as soon as I had downloaded all the photos and made a start on the diary entries, they suddenly decided it was time to wake up and create havoc! They do always wait to the most appropriate moments, such as diary entries so they can add their own little bits in by running across the keyboard bless them. I actually have given up on the radiator bed down here because now matter how many times I put it back together and hang it up, the Burps manage to pull it down and then move the cover around the floor until it is where they want it to be. You watch them sleep and you think butter wouldn't melt but that truly is not the case :) Mind you, remember back to much earlier diary entries for the Burps and I was always complaining that the were too well behaved? I should have kept my big mouth shut!

Day 87 - November 22, 2006

Entries are not particularly long today and there also isn't much in the way of photos. It is hectic today as we've been in and out and there is quite a lot going on.

I can now confirm that Pepsi most certainly does a home as we had a lovely visit late yesterday afternoon from Barry and Andrew. Pepsi will be sharing his home with Andrew and I'm sure he is going to have a great home. Of course this now means that my hopes of keeping Pepsi here to replace his father next year is going to be a non event. But at least I know when Cointreau is next mated, we will definitely be keeping a Chocolate Point boy :) Our Burps were fairly well behaved for their visitors and they were happy to show off how energetic they were by tearing around the room as per usual and Andrew did get to have a few brief cuddles with Pepsi although this was not easy as all Pepsi wanted to do was play.

Day 86 - November 21, 2006
Well here we are, yet another day where I don't seem to have a moment spare, however, I did manage some photos, not that any of our Burps wanted to co-operate during photo time as it was much more fun to sleep. And sleep they should! They have been terrors all day up until 11:30am when it came time to take some photos for the diary. It is not their fault though that they are so mischievous now as the fault lies solely with Ashanti who is a little bugger. As he is the oldest male kitten (apart from Frosticles), he is the "leader of the pack" so the Burps follow his lead and he really is teaching them some awful habits. The other problem with the Burps is that they now move so incredibly fast when they are darting into places that they shouldn't be and there is no way on earth I can catch them, or even keep up with them for that matter. Still, having a litter like the Burps in the house means I don't ever have to go to the gym as I am getting more exercise running around after them, than I would do at an aerobic session. Later on this evening we shall be meeting a possible new kitten family for Pepsi which may mean that he will finally have a home at long last. But as we know, there are never any guarantees that the new kitten family will approve of us and vice versa so by tomorrow morning I will have more news on this.

Day 85 - November 20, 2006
Our Burps spent a couple of hours this morning rushing around like absolute lunatics, but once 11am hit, everyone crashed out like a light. I think they have been sleeping a little bit more than usual during the past couple of days and if I had to hazard a guess as to why, I would say there are two influencing factors. The first being that it is an awful lot colder now and we do find when it's chilly, the cats get more enjoyment cuddling up with each other than anything else. The 2nd factor is due to Amarula and Amaretto putting the Burps in the beds and mothering them. All 4 of the kids are enjoying this extra attention so much and they have discovered when they lie in bed with the girls, they are smothered with grooming and attention. I still have not managed to get any photos for today's entry but I will definitely have some in tomorrow's entry. Cointreau has been spending very little time with them at all, and has in fact, been spending a lot more time with her own mother, Sambuca. In a way, she has handed their care and upkeep over to the 2 girls and has been quite happy to do so. Having said that though, when Fanta was crying this morning (he ran upstairs and couldn't get back into the main hallway because of the stair barrier), she was up a like shot to go and see what was wrong with her child. Of course the problem was that Amaretto also went tearing out to see what was wrong with "her" child, so Fanta got double the attention he was originally seeking :) I still have not managed to get any photos for today's entry but I will definitely have some in tomorrow's entry.

Day 84 - November 19, 2006

It's been a real struggle to get any form of kitten diary online this weekend as it's just been one thing after another and I have not had a spare moment.

Well our Burps have made it to the 12 weeks of age mark and so far, all is going extremely well. They are still eating us out of house and home but then again, they are growing boys who all seem to take after their father when it comes to size. At the moment they are still being mothered by Amarula and Amaretto although Amarula is doing to them exactly what Tia Lusso was doing, and that is trying to pick them up by the scruff of their necks to herd them into the bed where she can "feed" them. I am just hoping that this means Amarula isn't planning on coming into call! As it is, Cointreau has been screaming her head off in call, and has only now started to quieten down a bit, Sambuca has been in call, as was Tia Lusso, who fortunately had her honeymoon :)
