Kitten Diaries
Cacao
June 2004
Cacao's 2nd Kitten Diary - June 2004 to October 2004
Day 110 - October 6, 2004
I can't believe that Hermione has actually gone. She had integrated herself so well into our cat family and the majority of the time that she was here, I actually forgot that she was still only on loan to me so it was quite a shock when today arrived and she left me. I'm very lucky though that she's gone to such a fantastic home. I have absolutely no doubts in my mind that Philippa is the perfect new mum for my little Hermione and I know that Hermione will be loved for the rest of her life and, knowing Philippa, spoilt rotten. Hermione is such a dear sweet soul, very mischievous at times but what else would you expect from a Siamese baby. I hope it doesn't take her too long to settle in with her new mum and I am sure that over the years, Hermione, like all our other babies, will bring much love and happiness to her new mum.

This now means that we have come to the end of the Potters kitten diary and we're closing a chapter on yet another Schimmel litter. Looking back, we certainly had many more happy moments than sad, and like our other litters, I don't think there's anything I'd have done differently or changed. The Potters were a simply delightful, sometimes noisy, sometimes incredibly naughty litter but I love them dearly and even though they are now with all their new families, they will always have a very special place in my heart. Many thanks to all their wonderful new owners and even more thanks yet again to Andy Garton, my vet who looked after my little Potters as superbly as he looks after the rest of the Schimmel cats and babies. I'm actually incredibly sad that I'm at the end of this diary now, even though most of my babies left me a couple of weeks ago. I've been incredibly blessed though to have had them for the first 13 weeks of their lives and have also been very lucky to have found such loving, caring homes for them. We still have one current kitten diary running at the moment, the Gumnuts, (9 weeks old now) and after that, well.....................

Day 93 - September 19, 2004
My darlings Ron and Harry have now left me as well which leaves me with just my Hermione. I'm so very pleased that they have both gone to the same home and I do hope it won't be long before they settle in with all their other new playmates. I know that Yasmin will be a wonderful mum to my boys and they have gone to a fantastic home. Poor Hermione doesn't really know what to do with herself. She spent a lot of last night running about with Sami, Buie & Cacao, but there was the odd spell where she would be just sitting all on her own on top of the table, waiting for one of her brothers or sisters to appear. I was very sad to see my boys go and all in all, it was a rather depressing weekend.

Even though I still have Hermione left, she is actually remaining with me until October 6th or thereabouts so until the day she leaves me, there will be no further updates to the Potters Diary.
Day 92 - September 18, 2004
Well last night both Madam Hooch and McGonagall left me and it was just as difficult as I thought it would be. Late yesterday afternoon Graham had McGonagall on his lap (as usual) and I was moaning about not being able to take a decent photo of her before she went. He then informed me that I would have plenty of opportunity to take photos of her as she was not going anywhere because he wanted to keep her. Fortunately for John, McGonagall's new owner, I told Graham she was most definitely not staying here. Two naughty Black Torties in the house is more than enough for the time being!! Both Madam Hooch and McGonagall will be sharing their homes with another cat and I hope it won't take them long to settle in and that they will soon be enjoying their new playmates. I am already missing both girls are great deal because they were just so naughty and so loving and their absence is very noticeable. Many thanks to John for having our darling McGonagall and also to Debs & Gary for agreeing to put up with Madam Hooch :) I know that both my girls are going to be very much loved and very happy in their new homes and will be looking forward to updates on their antics every now and then. I'm afraid that I can't really tell you anything at all about Harry, Ron & Hermione for today as I haven't been home all day. The 3 photos below were taken of McGonagall yesterday afternoon as she looked so dreadful in the previous day's photos.

Day 91 - September 17, 2004 (13 weeks old today!)
The day I've been dreading has arrived, although as Madam Hooch & McGonagall aren't actually leaving me until early evening, the diary entry is like any other normal entry. At least I finally managed to get all the paperwork organised for the new owners. I sat down with both girls today and explained to them what would be going on tonight and neither of them were particularly phased. In fact, Madam Hooch went so far as to tell me that "We're not babies anymore you know, we KNOW we have new families that we are going to live with and we are well aware that you're only here to feed us for a few weeks or so. Quite frankly, we'll be glad to go to a place that will be much quieter than here!" That's gratitude for you I guess. Both girls though have enjoyed all their extra cuddles that they've had from us today. Graham is really unhappy at losing McGonagall as he's formed such a close bond with her recently. All our Potters spent the morning creating havoc apart from Harry who wanted nothing more than to sit on my lap for cuddles and drift off to sleep which was really lovely. They had some fun games with the Gumnuts today and even let the Gumnuts practice their stalking skills on them which was very funny to watch. After a while though I closed the door again as the Gumnuts wanted to sleep and as they are still so very young, they require a lot of uninterrupted sleep to help them grow. Whenever they are awake though, the door is opened back up and they can join in all the household activities. As it's my 2 Oriental babies who are leaving me today, I have only put photos of those babies below. Mind you, McGonagall absolutely refused to co-operate. Whenever I pointed the camera her direction she either ran away, or she refused to "show herself off" which explains the couple of photos below of her. Trust me, she is actually a beautiful girl :)

Tomorrow's diary entry will not go online until Sunday as I have quite a lot to get through tomorrow and won't have the time.
