Day 41 - February 9, 2004
None of the Little Warriors are speaking to me at the moment, except for Gabby who is obviously the most forgiving as she is currently sitting on my lap. The reason the girls don't like me anymore is because they were wormed for the first time in their lives today and they had no idea it was about to happen. I wormed them at lunch time because I like to have them in the same room as me for hours after I worm them to make sure there are no effects and everyone is okay. Well so far, they are all fine, except for the fact that they don't like me one bit. Even worse is that both mums (The Charmed Ones were also wormed again today) were horrified at what I was doing to their babies. Naturally it was no use trying to explain to any of them that it was for their own good, they just didn't want to know. I was really pleased though because apart from a tiny bit of a mess, it all went really smoothly. I'm just lucky that my little Gabby still loves me :) All Little Warriors can now manage the stairs really well, albeit a lot slower than the Siamese, but they can now go up and down them. Every now and then one of them will get half way and sit there and cry because she forgets how she got there, but apart from that they are doing really well.
Day 40 - February 8, 2004
As promised, yesterday's photos have now been added to the diary. Unlike the Charmed Ones, the little Warriors are still not 100% sure about the stairs. Hera is the most interested in trying to go up and down them and every now and then she can be seen at the bottom of the stairs along with the Siamese. Their colouring is really coming through beautifully at the moment. Both Calisto and Xena have really stunning colouring just like their mum. Gabriel's tortie markings are coming through much clearer now as well and she is a very endearing little girl. The little Orientals are still causing a problem regarding the litter training. Even though they use their litter tray on a regular basis, then still have a tendency to go to the toilet in their beds so as a result I am still washing all the bedding on a daily basis. I think I might rearrange their beds in the kitten room today and put another litter tray in the place where their bed is to see if they start using the tray instead. I'm still amazed by the fact that even though they are 2 weeks younger than the Charmed Ones, apart from the size difference, you truly wouldn't know because when they are all awake and playing, the little Warriors cause just as much havoc as the Siamese girls, and whatever the Charmed Ones do, the Ori's are just as capable of doing it as well.

Day 39 - February 7, 2004
Today's diary is very short unfortunately as I will not be around today which is why I have put it online so early in the day. The Little Warriors had some more good weight gains last night but it's no surprise as they are still eating like little piggies. Calisto who is always behind everyone else in the weight department (to be expected when she was born 31 hours after the others) makes tremendous gains every day. I think she's trying to make up for lost time. Gabby and Xena were very naughty last night, tearing up and down the hallway and scaring the poor Siamese by jumping on them. Poor little Hera has to learn to control herself a bit more because out of all the babies in the house, she is the only one who attempts to get out the door before I've even opened it to let them out. How she hasn't been squashed flat by now is beyond me! Photos from today will go online tomorrow.

Day 38 - February 6, 2004
For the first time since I started these diaries, today's entry is the same in both diaries. The photos however, are different. It's not due to lack of time, but due to the fact that I made the decision yesterday to let the babies start to grow up a bit. Up until now, as most of your know, our babies spend their evenings in the Kitten Room upstairs and then during they day, they are brought downstairs between 9am-10am to spend the day in the room with me down here so that can get used to people coming and going and all other household noises. It's obviously working well because we have happy, well adjusted babies at this point. The problem however, is that up until this point, both litters were beginning to think that their entire lives consist of just one room and they have no idea of the big world out there called "A House". I made the decision last night, that when I fed the babies their dinner, I would leave the door open and they could venture out and explore the upstairs part of the house. I did however, stay there watching them to make sure nothing happened to any of them. The babies came tearing out of their room, and just went running all over the place, into the bathroom, up and down the hallway, they were hiding behind doors and scaring each other, sniffing everything they could and generally really enjoying themselves. So I put their food down and let them have dinner. After dinner, I went downstairs with the plates and left them to it for about 5 minutes. I was a bit worried at what I would find when I went back up but you have to let them be independent sometimes and anyway, both mums were with them so I knew the babies would be fine. When I went back up they were still having a great time, they thought all their Christmases had come at once! The mum's weren't so sure as now they had their 8 little ones going anywhere they wanted. So Cacao kept walking up and down the hallway checking them all, Tia sat on the 2nd step from the top and as soon as any of the babies ventured near the stairs, she was there to turn them away. Obviously the babies don't need me to protect them and keep them safe because their mums do such a wonderful job. I thought I'd give them another 15 minutes of exploring so I went into the bedroom and then 10 minutes later came running out because I heard a massive squeal from one of the babies. Thinking the worst I went out only to find poor Xena sitting on one of the cat beds in the hallway crying because that nasty Paige had done something horrible to her! So Xena got lots of cuddles and felt much better after that. This morning, I repeated the procedure when I fed them their breakfast and the babies came tearing out of the room and went running up the hall and started playing with each other. I then came downstairs to sort out the washing etc. and just left them all up there doing whatever they wanted. When it was time to then bring them downstairs, I opened the door to the stairs and found to my surprise that all 8 babies were either already at the bottom of the stairs (no not in a heap) whilst others were still coming down. Obviously they figured out how to maneuver down the stairs with no incidents. As it all seemed to work so well, from now on the babies can have the run of the upstairs after breakfast until they come down, and then again of an evening. Hopefully, this will teach them that their little world isn't just one big room, and they will also hopefully get used to us humans thumping up and down the stairs, turning on the shower etc. etc. At the time of writing this, all babies are sound asleep in their cat bed with their mummies, down here in the room with me. It's due to the fact that they are sleeping that I managed to get today's entry written in one go, as opposed to yesterday when they created havoc for hours on end and the diary took me forever to finish.

Day 37 - February 5, 2004
The Little Warriors haven't created much havoc yet today which makes a nice change! They all had a little wander up and down the hallway which they seemed to enjoy. Xena got woken up this afternoon by Piper who was grooming her and Paige who was biting her ears. I actually moved 3 of the Charmed Ones out of bed this afternoon because they all wanted to wrestle while the poor little Ori babies were trying to sleep and feed! Xena wasn't real keen on having lunch today, although the others certainly made up for it. Their weight gains were very good last night so they are all on the right track. Calisto has now joined the other babies in climbing my legs when I'm sitting on the chair for cuddles. She was doing really well until 5 minutes ago she nearly fell off! I obviously spoke too soon about them being quiet because at about 2pm they all woke up and have been going berserk ever since.

Day 36 - February 4, 2004
I've given up trying to stop them coming out of the kitten room now. When I opened the door this morning I let them just come running out. I figure if they are old enough to want to leave the room, then they are old enough to explore the top half of the house. They can only access the hallway and bathroom, as well as the stairs which they are still too young to manage so it's not like there's any dangerous places that they can escape to. It's much easier to let them expore than it is to try and keep them in there. Hera, for all her great points, is very clumsy when it comes to food. I have never known a cat to continually just run straight through the bowls of dry food scattering it all over the place. Calisto now eats the dry food as well so that's all 8 babies weaned now so it's really wonderful. The Little Warriors will still be feeding from mums for quite some time but they have proper meals now as well. They are also finally getting the hang of the litter tray and whilst I have seen all 4 use the tray, I'm still guaranteed to find little "nuggets" left in other places as well! Hera now climbs the CD rack downstairs now as well. She has obviously been watching the Siamese do it and has learnt from them. They still aren't able to quite reach my chair yet by jumping from the floor so they just use my legs as a ladder and then all 4 will come and sit on my lap for cuddles which is very sweet.

Day 35 - February 3, 2004 (5 weeks old today!)

I learnt today that it's impossible now to open the door to the Kitten Room, whilst holding 2 plates of kitten food, as well as try to stop the babies from coming out. As soon as the door is open now, the little Warriors come bolting out and as quick as they were coming out, I was stuffing them back in, trying not to spill either plate at the same time. Looks like I need a better system. I'm pleased to say that Hera now eats dry kitten food and I've even caught Xena having a few nibbles so it's just a case of waiting for Calisto to catch up. In actual fact, Hera is a little pig. That kitten will eat us out of house and home in a few weeks I think. Mind you, all Little Warriors eat well, which is why they had made some rather massive weight gains last night. It's hard to believe they are now 5 weeks old. They really are growing up very quickly indeed. They are fascinated with a little ball that has a bell in it and they still love the cardboard box with the shapes cut out that we made for them. However their favourite games are chasing the Siamese and each other, scaring each other to death and wrestling.
