Day 62 - August 31, 2007

Entries are quite short today sorry, quite short with no photos, because our beautiful, but naughty, Canberra left us early this afternoon so it has been quite a busy day. I also seem to be getting the flu so I'm not particularly motivated to write entries to be honest with you. Also, one of our other ladies is due to go into labour today so my time has been divided between running up and downstairs to our bedroom to be with her.

Our Nuts shocked me yesterday afternoon. I got up out of my chair, went into the kitchen, and I passed an Oriental Black baby in the hall, nothing unusual there as all some of our older babies are Blacks and they are always all over the place. I then spotted an Oriental Ticked Tabby in the hallway, gave him a cursory glance, went into the kitchen, put the kettle on and realised that the Ticked Tabby was indeed Pecan! So for the first time ever, our Nuts have progressed to the downstairs part of the home. Cashew and Pecan were having the time of their life exploring the front hallway and even ventured into my room where the "big" cats are, they were not phased at all. Poor Lucy sat on the stair, peering through the wire screen barrier, absolutely furious that "her" children were roaming around and she could get out to protect them. One thing I found interested, and certainly no surprise, was that Amarula (who is doing so much better by the way), glanced at the babies, went up to them and sniffed them, and then turned and walked away. She had no idea at all that those babies were actually the ones she gave birth to less than 9 weeks ago.

Day 61 - August 30, 2007

Again today, they are not the longest of kitten diaries as I have one baby leaving home tomorrow and another on Saturday which means I really should get some paperwork done or their new families will not be very impressed :)

The photos below will prove to you that Pecan is just as feisty today as he was yesterday, and there has not been a single baby who has been safe from his mischievous games. Not even poor Thames who is only a third the size of Pecan. I have to say though, that for all his boyish behaviour and wrestling, he is actually quite gentle and to this day I have never heard a baby squeal when Pecan has been playing with him/her. Cashew decided that he really must know what is going on behind the closed door to the 2nd kitten room. I'm not sure why though because our 3 Ray J's are very quiet babies, mainly because with only 3 of them, they don't have to fight at the milk bar, yet Cashew knows something is definitely in there and each time I've tried to go in and out of the room, he has tried to go in as well. At one point, he did actually manage it but I was able to scoop him up and take him back out before Amaretto saw him. I remember back to early days in this kitten diary and right from the start I said Cashew would be trouble and he is starting to prove me right now :)

Day 60 - August 29, 2007
Pecan has been in "one of those moods" during the last 24 hours and he has been annoying all 3 of his brothers by constantly stalking them and pouncing on them when they least expect it. Macadamia got wise to his little games and decided that the best thing to do would be to get into bed with Toussaint, Miss Marple, and the Water Babies and pretend to be one of them. Even Pecan isn't brave enough to attack any of the babies when they are feeding from Toussaint :) Cashew unfortunately, being a bit of a mischief maker himself, actually welcomed Pecan's games and both boys have been having some rather volatile wrestling matches throughout the day while Lucy looks on and just signs bless her. Pistachio is so much more laid back than his brother and he figured that the best thing to do would be to climb up into the top platform of the scratch post and pretend to sleep. He obviously wasn't counting on Pecan following him up there however it was Pecan who got a bit of a shock because as he was climbing up the scratch post, Pistachio bit him on the paws and naturally, Pecan let go and fell off back down onto the chair :)

Day 59 - August 28, 2007

They are not the longest of entries today as our darling Liquorice left us to go and live with Linz and Lulu, so my morning was spent doing paperwork etc. but I did manage a couple of photos at least.

It was a special night for Pecan last night as he had some lovely cuddles with the Blue Paw Clan. I will not bother going into the relationship between Pecan and the Blue Paws because I'll just end up confusing everyone, including myself :) Pecan was such a good little child as he had cuddles with his Granny, Caryll and he was so well behaved which really is unlike him. As each day passes, our Nuts become more daring, and much louder when it comes to playing games and at the moment, their favourite place to play in is the bathroom. I'm just so relieved none of them are able to jump up into the bath tub......................................yet! They really are such funny little children, and each of them are so very, very different, particularly in looks. Not a single one of them is showing any similarities at the moment with regards to type. It's going to be so much fun watching them develop during the next month.

Day 58 - August 27, 2007

Unfortunately, there are still no photos for today's entry, not even for our newest babies. I had the best intentions in the world but sometimes, days just do now pan out exactly how we want them to. It's actually nothing short of a miracle that I have managed to get a few sentences in each kitten diary today.

Our Nuts are ecstatic about having total freedom now and they are constantly running in and out of their kitten room. They run into the 2nd kitten room, and they explore upstairs but so far, none of them have ventured down the stairs yet although that will come with time. I do feel some of their exploring is hampered however by Lucy who does not like any of the children to have independence. Sometimes I look at our Nuts and think they seem to be growing at a rapid rate, yet other times I am not sure. All of them continue to gain each day so at the moment I'm really happy with their progress. When they are awake, they are total little monkeys, into absolutely everything as you can imagine and trying to get into places that they shouldn't be.

Day 57 - August 26, 2007
As you will noticed, we have skipped a few day's entries. The reason for this is that on Friday, I was extremely busy and then on Saturday I was in Bristol at a cat show with Ashanti and Cacao, both of whom did extremely well. One of our older babies, Snow Queen, was due to leave us at 9am on Sunday morning, and then the biggest shock of all was getting a phone call from Graham during the afternoon of the show to tell me Amaretto had gone into labour. So between the cat show, the birth, and our baby leaving us, I have not had a spare second to get diary entries online. I am desperately hoping that the kitten diaries can resume as per normal tomorrow.
