Day 76 - September 14, 2007

We'd like to start off today's kitten diaries by congratulating Julie of Lorimnailie Siamese & Orientals on the birth of her new kittens, sired by our own Ashanti.

There really are no entries today as my day has not gone according to plan at all. In fact, I've ended up being very behind with absolutely everything and had no hope at all in doing kitten diaries.

Day 75 - September 13, 2007
Our Nuts have spent quite a bit of time downstairs this afternoon, mainly because I've had the front door open and the sunshine has been coming through the front hallway so they have been having a lot of fun playing chase and trying to annoy the adult cats. Cashew has been in one of those moods today where he wants to keep pouncing on, and wrestling with everyone. He actually made Pecan and Pistachio look quite calm in comparison and that's saying something. Despite spending time downstairs each day now, none of the babies have shown any interest in wanting to venture out into the cat run yet which does surprise. I don't know if this will change for the remainder of their time here or not.

Day 74 - September 12, 2007
The kitten diaries for the Water Baby, the Nuts and the Detectives are all the same today and basically they are just "photo" diaries. I have had an incredibly hectic day. First thing this morning I did the diaries for the 2 younger litters, the Chef's and the Ray J's and for these 2 litters I needed individual photos as we are still trying to determine colour and pattern. After that, the camera batteries died and by the time they were charged back up, it was 3pm. So I do apologise for not having any text to go with today's entries but at least there are photos :)

Day 73 - September 11, 2007
Our Nuts are getting better looking by the day I think and don't they know it :) When it is photo time, if I catch them while they are lazing around, they tend to look up at the camera with the most innocent of expressions, pretending to be angelic little babies. Nothing could be further from the truth because the only time these babies are angelic is when they are sleeping. Pecan and Pistachio decided to scare the heck out of the babies that were sleeping in the top bunk. The curtain was blowing towards the bunk bed because obviously the windows in the kitten room are always open, so Pecan and Pistachio both went up onto the windowsill, waited until the curtain blew out over the bunk bed, sprang from the windowsill into the top bed, but still behind the curtain. The poor children who were in the bed had no idea what was happening when the 2 boys, entangled in the curtain, fell on their heads! Life is never boring when you have an Oriental Tabby kitten in the home :)

Day 72 - September 10, 2007

There are no photos today of the Detectives or the Nuts as Ock is fading and as she is still in the kitten room with the babies I do not want to take any photos.

Yet again, another day where our Nuts are in fine form <sigh>. They decided today would be "stair playing" day and I have lost count of how many times I have nearly fallen down the stairs to avoid standing on a Nut. They have been running up and down the stairs like lunatics, they have been wrestling with each other on the stairs, and they have been tumbling down the stairs. They are dangerous little babies indeed bless them. But still, I am grateful that they have chosen today to be little terrors because I am welcoming their distractions.

Day 71 - September 9, 2007

There are no photos in today's kitten diaries as it's been a "relaxing day" as we had our very good friends, Caryll, Ray, Jim, Jacqui and Marcelle visit us (and their respective babies) so we have had a lovely relaxing afternoon and quite a few laughs.

Pecan had a special day today as his mum and dad came to visit him. Of course, being Pecan, he was most interested in playing in the bath tub than seeing his mum and dad. Typical Tabby really, but Marcelle did manage to have some cuddles with him so that is something :) He is growing into such a handsome young man, to be honest though, all the Nuts are looking extremely handsome now. They are starting to lose their little baby faces and are looking like proper young kittens which is quite nice. Marcelle's biggest concern at this stage is the name we shall be giving to Pecan and rightly so ;) We do have one name in mind but I shall be doubling my effort now to come up with something even more "unique". Pecan's dad, Jim, seemed more intent on playing with wasps than he did looking at kittens :) :)

Day 70 - September 8, 2007

Prior to typing today's kitten diaries, we would like to congratulate Linz and Martin on Tifa's fantastic show results and we would like to congratulate Julie and Andy on Mimi's fantastic show results today. Please Click Here to view the girls' results.

At 10 weeks of age, I am afraid to say that our Nuts are becoming more boisterous by the day. It seems the older that they become, they more they feel they should behave like little thugs. I swear I don't know where they get it from! Their mother, Amarula, is such a gentle soul, and Ashanti, well he is a lot of things but he certainly was never a thug, must be a throwback from somewhere. I am just hoping that as they mature, they will grow out of it a little and will calm down because goodness only knows what their new families will think if I send them home and they behave this way. Particularly as some of them will be sharing their home with other cats.
